I think it's bullshit that people say how women are less visual when it comes to dating. There’s always this idea floating around that girls rely emphasize emotion, personality, humour whereas men just care about looks. The first example that people usually point to is rich men. You might thank “well Danny Devito is ugly but he has a wife”. I think what people have observed is that there are a lot of unattractive men rich men with good looking girls. So they’ve deduced that it must be that women are more forgiving than men when it comes to looks. But that’s not the case. Women sometimes pick wealthier men for long term relationships simply because of that man’s wealth. It does not mean she is any less visual. She probably doesn’t find him sexually desirable either so she wouldn’t even select him for a short term mate.

Now if we were to put money aside and look at the remaining factors, I would argue that women are no less visual then men when it comes to dating. There are several physical traits that women HIGHLY emphasize height, broad shoulder, manly jawline, lean body fat percentage.

Height is probably one of the most important factors. It might be true that women may emphasize facial attractiveness a bit less than men, but that’s only because they have SO much more emphasis on height. It DOESN’T make them less shallow. I’ve seen people mention how women who date 6'4 Lurch are choosing him for his personality. Please, do you really think they would date him if he was 5 ft 4? Rarely do women date guys who are shorter so why do people keep insisting on this bullshit about how women are less visual. Surely we should see more couples where the man is shorter than the guy. Oh wait we don't and even short girls prefer tall guys. Out of 720 couples, only one existed where the man was shorter than the woman. If women are less visual, why are they so hellbent on one silly physical trait. Statistically, the odds would be 1 in 40 if you randomly paired men and women. Yet there is a massive difference. It’s because women have based a large percentage of their dating selection on one physical trait. That DOES NOT make you less visual. In fact, men don’t even go this far.

I honestly feel like I'm less visual than most girls I see. All I hear girls talk about is "Oh he's so tall", "he's so lean", "he has nice hair". Girls even worship male celebrities these days purely based on their good looks. I'm sorry it's just bullshit and I'm getting tired of hearing it. It's quite sexist too but being sexist against men is ok. Women are no less visual. Add on top of that, women aren’t critiqued and are free to express their preferences. If a guy writes he only prefers large breasts, he is thought of as shallow. The reality is that is shallow but for some reason, people are brainwashed in to thinking that women aren’t really emphasizing looks, when they absolutely are.

edit: I'm NOT saying that women are all shallow. I'm simply saying that this idea that women are less attracted to physical traits and are drawn to a man's heart and personality is definitely false. On aggregate, women aren't any less visual than men. Marrying a rich guy doesn't prove otherwise..
