Is it also possible that the vast majority of Directors, cinematographers, composers, and editors are male, so it would make sense that you would see more males nominated than females. Unless of course what they want is for women to represent 10% of an industry, but receive 90+% of the recognition in that industry. In which case they may want to do a refresher course on the meaning of equality.

Fuck the Oscars, fuck Golden Globes, etc. They don't matter. It's a popularity contest over a subjective medium. If your favorite movie was Infinity War, buy the movie, support the people who made it, celebrate that yourself. If you think women or POC dont get enough representation on the screen, go to the theater and watch the movies made by women and POC. Buy the DVD. Don't rely on other people to tell you what the best movie is or who the best actors/actresses are or so on. It's for show and should have no bearing over anything. Support the artists you think need recognition by voting with your wallet and eyeballs.

I am fully convinced that outcries like this will only hurt women when the rubber band effect brings their movement back into the realm of reality.

It’s the outcry of “I do not care how I/she/we preformed, (insert pronoun) deserve(s) to be awarded”

This will only be cause for more scrutiny when stuff like this is said and the real numbers can be regurgitated because moments like these cause people to look and see that women film makers/athletes/actresses etc. just do not put out a product desired by the public, let alone other women. (There are accepting of course)

So there is ONE there that warrants discussion of snubbing, maybe 2 but I haven't seen it and Nicole Kidman's performance is pretty much a lock for a nomination in any film like this regardless of the director.
