Hey ladies! There are quite a few threads floating around for recipes and beauty/health. But neither really fit the category of a couple tricks I learned recently for taking care of the homestead. I thought I'd make a post for these kinds of things that actually work!

1) Dried red wine stain

Soak the stain in vodka for 30 minutes, then wash the item as usual immediately after. This works for most fabrics I've tried, including whites!! The only thing it didn't work on for me was a waterproof mattress protector sheet.

Edit: This probably wouldn't be too effective on furniture and the like, unless you can remove the surface layer and machine wash it. But it's great for clothing and bedding (if you wine and netflix in bed like I do).

2) Remove scuffs/scratches on dark leather

Rub it with a walnut. It sounds silly, but it totally works!! I've used this on everything from cognac color leathers to blacks. I would be afraid to try it on anything lighter, though.

Any other odd bits of advice floating around? I would love to hear the secret knowledge! :)
