This has been posted before and I hope it's posted again. My brother is the biggest dope with the least amount of game imaginable except for two things: he's fit, and he's practically mute. Women don't know what to do with him so they're inexplicably drawn to him. They learn the truth and they bail. He has a charmed life and routinely casts aside good to go 7's. He literally disappears some weekends to give his cock a break.
Keep your mouth shut. Let them fill in the blanks. Not speaking makes you mysterious, withdrawn. Deep waters run silent and all that bullshit. It's true though.
[–]Mouthpiece 24 points25 points26 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
What kind of quiet guys are "mysterious"? The guys who are somehow communicating on the nonverbal level that they have something interesting about them or they have something going on. The fat neck beard in the corner who doesn't say anything conveys the image that he just doesn't have anything going on in his life. There's nothing interesting about him, even if he's got his fedora perched at a jaunty angle. That guy have to spit some mad game to get play.
But if you look like Channing Tatum, then you can simply stand back and watch the girls come try to prove themselves to you.
If you're driving a Lamborghini and dress like you run a multi million dollar business, you can sit in the corner booth looking like you're conducting business, and the girls will lineup to prove themselves to you.
If you're jacks and you're wearing a Super Bowl ring, you can sit back and let the girls come to you.
These three examples, while obviously exaggerated, illustrate that verbal communication is not the only part of game. You're communicating whether you like it or not. What you communicate is up to you. The way you dress, the way you act, the way you carry yourself, and the word you speak all communicate whether or not you are the type of man that women want to be with.
To pull off "mysterious and silent" you need to communicate your value on another level.
Most of us are somewhere in between these extremes. That means we are at our best when our verbal and nonverbal communications are all working in sync. Be fit, dress well, carry yourself like a man, and be able to carry a conversation like a grown-up.
And most of all, be the kind of man that you want to be, not the kind of man that you think gets pussy. If you were filling your purpose and your mission, the pussy will take care of itself.

I like bullshitting more than I like sex so i'll probably keep being a loudmouth, personally. It's not perfect game by any means, but it's not boring to me.
I get a lot of approaches in, which is the only reason this is doable. If you embrace abundance mentality hard enough, you can basically do whatever you want, otherwise.
[–]evilkenevil 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I am like this too, I have to stop myself if I want to complete a deal. One thing I've been working on is being loudmouth-ish, outspoken-ish. Toned down basically with equal parts of not giving a fuck. This of course is the hard part because everyone can smell a bullshitter. To not give a fuck one must actually not give a fuck so when there is a 10 in the room that you're trying to land ignoring her while not ignoring her not giving a fuck is difficult. I have had enough success to mention it. It's actually fun because brooding in a corner, while successful for my brother, is outrageously hard for me to do.
The best is at a party or something making your best first impression and then wander away to go make your best first impression with someone else. Your targets become bewildered as to why you didn't hang around longer to try and pick up on them like every other guys weak game and begin to think you weren't interested. With defenses down and inhibitions at bay they often will come find you. This works surprisingly well with 8-10's.

so how does he get girls if he doesn't approach or talk to them? They just come to him?
[–]evilkenevil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
He will speak but sparingly. He'll gesture, walk around, maybe some very, very small talk. He's fit, dresses as though he cares, and looks confident. Women definitely want to know what is up with this seemingly alone "catch". Pretty awesome. I've tried to mirror him the best that I am able if I could just shut up more.

[–]evilkenevil 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sure he'll approach but it's hard to describe. Where I have 20 words he has 4. Where I have 4 words he has a nod. I don't I could ever get to his level because he's a natural but I can get close and when I am shutting down at least half of my verbal I do way WAY better.

Yes this. The more I speak the less mystery I maintain. Mystery is key to a woman. I've been trying the taking less and listening more for quite some time. I have noticed that when I'm around people who talk less, many times the things that they do say have more importance to them. You also give off a mysterious vibe sometimes when you aren't talking as much.
[–]PragmaticRedTruth 8 points8 points8 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
The mysterious portion adds much to the coolness; loud mouths are annoying and give away so much of what another's mind could have imagined, imagined for the better.

I was, and am, able to use coolness as a form of polarity.

You sound like you're in high school.
You don't want to look 'cool', you want to look approachable. Yes, that means you should shut up and listen sometimes, but the ability to take command of a social situation or tell a good story is indispensable. Standing quietly trying to act 'cool' when in a group just makes you look like an autistic sperg who doesn't know how to behave in a social situation. Note that I'm not saying you have to be loud, nor am I saying that you have to reveal a lot of personal information.
The best way to play it out if you're going for 'mysterious' is to leave people with the impression that they had a great conversation with you, but only later does it occur to them that they don't know much about you.
tl;dr - you want to be the guy constantly socializing and chatting people up, not some cringey loser trying to act all mysterious. It doesn't work.
Say, "oh yeah?" lots more.
The only time I would ever say this is if I'm talking to someone I want to built a rapport with (someone who offers some kind of value to me) and they say something so retarded that I literally have nothing to respond, but I don't want to walk away.
Lastly, don't try to "one up" anyone, people can see it and it's corny as fuck.
This at least is some decent advice, don't put down other people.

Hey! There we are. Someone making sense on this post. Yeah it's a nice concept. "Be quiet and you become mysterious." Guess what? So is, "no one is watching you as closely as you think." So which is true? Is it that quiet guys are mysterious or is it that no one notices what you're doing 90% of the time? There's a reason that the most prevalent trait among 24 year old virgins is shyness.
The same line of logic that leads you to believe this led you to believe blue pill ideology. You know why this is appealing? It's easy. It's easy to be quiet. It's definitely easier to sit in the corner of the group saying nothing. I know I can do that. Same with blue pill. I know I can be super nice to girls. I know I can treat them like queens. It's a nice thought, but it's not that easy.
In one-on-one conversation, talk less and listen more. That's good advice. In group conversation, talk more and say things that actually have substance. That's not easy, but if it was everyone would be doing it. Trust me, you didn't just find a no effort way to be more attractive. Men would've jumped on it millennia ago if this worked.
Good post, but these comments are taking it way too far. Being quiet doesn't get you laid. Shutting up long enough to listen to those around you definitely does.
[–]melxer 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That whole notion of easy and hard is skewed. It's hard when you have to do an effort toward a given direction. Some people are natural extravert and are used to talking in groups since they are kids, it's not hard for them, it's who they are. It's hard for the shy beta that has to learn and implement a new way of being.
OP's post is directed to those jesters that talk a lot, make a lot of jokes but that always end up being orbiters with dry dicks. They have to make that hard effort of reflecting on how they behave in general and trim and reshape their conversational habits to be more attractive and bonding.
[–]beginner_ 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agree. Was shy and quiet, still quiet so. Did not get laid. (Ok, also was in an LTR but still would not have had much options). If you realize that people you "know" or have seen have no clue who you are, it clearly tells you just being quiet doesn't work at all. This was brought up in another post couple weeks ago. Being quiet only works AFTER you already have the attention. Being shy and sitting in the corner will only make you go unnoticed unless you look like a greek good or are famous.

Actually almost 30. I probably wouldn't be here pitching good advice as I have been if I was in high school.
Social is good, talk with as many people as possible, open women. Acting cool while you do it is better. Aloof is better. Let people prove themselves to you, don't let anyone make you think it's better the other way around.
The point is, don't talk for the sake of talking. Talk because you have something to say. Talking without it makes you look like you're trying to prove yourself to others.
[–]Senior Endorsed ContributorFieldLine 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You're right, if you are in a setting where you are already established as someone with a high SMV then you are better off letting new people prove themselves to you rather than the other way around. But, in my experience, if you are meeting a group of people for the first time, especially if they already know each other, no one is going to feel like they need to prove anything to you. In their minds you offer no value, so you do have to prove yourself to some extent, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I wouldn't be hear pitching advice as I have been if I was in high school.
You'd be surprised, TRP seems to have this sickness where newcomers feel the need to offer advice they aren't qualified to give. You also see this a lot in the fitness community. Whisper had a great write up about it a while back

I think this is best summed up by the simple fact that if you don't have a interesting story or a confident sentence to say, don't say anything. It is better to be silent than run your mouth. Confident speech bests both though.

[–]RP-Doctor 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Better yet, figure out where you stand. Do you talk too much or too little? Probably, you just talk at all the wrong times. You don't talk when there's a hot girl around, and when one starts actually conversing with you you won't shut your mouth.
The best conversationalists are extremely good listeners, but they aren't afraid to blurt out something random either. The key is random but relevant. It's less awkward than you'd think to just pull out some pre-packaged "out of the hat" question. Most people are just relieved to have something concrete to answer.
As for being more quiet, it works in one-on-one conversation, but most guys I know that fit the stereotype of the man who starts following TRP are way too quiet in groups. When in a group, strive to lead, just don't try to take over. Have you ever been in that situation someone mentions a few possibilities and no one can make up their fucking minds? Be the guy who makes that decision. If you're in a group of 10 people, be sure your voice is heard every once in a while.
My one-on-one conversations follow a very basic format. Answer the question, ask one back. It's not rocket science people. Most awkward silences are caused by a break in cadence and a lack of a new question. Usually you can't think of a new question because you're so focused on your end of it that you're not even fully in the conversation. Your replies to their questions should be 2/3 serious and 1/3 teasing. Guarantee if you do this you won't get shit tested, or she'll give you lobs because she wants you to pass.
My group conversations are a little different. Look, as much as a lot of guys here want the "mysterious" vibe to be a real thing, it's not. If you don't talk, you don't get heard. You don't get noticed. I've known two types of guys who do this. Guys who are solid 8s or 9s who some girls go after because they think their "cute" and guys who don't get laid. In groups you need to talk, but you need to avoid being the "oh yeah" guy. You need to say things of substance, and you need to let others talk.
[–]masterypill 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh yeah.
We had a post about book list not long ago. Dale Carnegie's How to win friends and influence people mentioned what you said at chapter "An easy way to become a good conversationalist".
What is the secret, the mystery, of a successful business interview? Well, according to former Harvard president Charles W. Eliot, "There is no mystery about successful business intercourse. ... Exclusive attention to the person who is speaking to you is very important. Nothing else is so flattering as that."
Your group conversations is valuable and probably can expend to a whole book. Company culture is needed to drive successful conversation like this. You need people who encourage shy people to expand their conversation.
There at least one of the person in the team understands the goal, then coordinate each member in order to fully functional.
[–]Expectations1 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This should come with a caveat though, when you do talk, it should be delivered with an inner confidence, even when its about something boring.
Also, one analogy i like to refer to is small dogs bark a lot more than big dogs.
[–]NeoreactionSafe 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Don't repeat Blue Pill themes.
If your words scream Blue Pill thinking then you come off as beta and will have no ability to attract women, however you will be allowed to be an orbiter.
But if your words scream Red Pill masculine thinking then they will either piss off the Feminists or create massive Tingles or both. Typically a woman will be both angry at truth and excited by it at the same time.
By having Red Pill thoughts but saying little you probably get the maximum value with the minimum hassles.

Start talking less and calm the fuck down.
I agree with the point of this post and i've tried implementing, but i've run into one problem, whenever I do this people instantly assume somethings wrong, and of course when I say no it's perceived as just not telling whats wrong, how do I deal with this?
[–]diskotanssi 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You probably appear anxious when you're doing this.
Check that you're not fidgeting, biting your nails, looking around sharply, those kinds of things.
When you're silent and smooth, nobody will ask if anything is wrong. You just need to be more contemplative, stare into the distance, but also be engaged when the time is right.
[–]Impun1ty 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
People have called me cool my entire life, it took me years to figure out why but it's just my general presence.
I don't let stuff get to me, so I don't get annoyed and panic unless it's REALLY justifiable. It's not productive to freak out, it makes you look weak and it just makes situations worse. Stay calm.
Mindful thinking over impulsive reactions at all times. This benefits me greatly in life, but it also creates this appearance of being in deep thought a lot. Almost as if being around that person doesn't bother you in the slightest, you care so little what people think of you that you are in your head and not in the room with them. It just looks cool.
This is why you see "cool" people so laid back, they probably look relaxed in every situation they're in even when they're not.

I have tried both the strategies
When you talk less,do controlled talking not only women but also men see you as a higher value person.People in general respects you a lot more than you than a talker. However, there is a bad side to this.It is incredibly hard to do the mental work which can lead you to bed.You need to foresee things and talking isn't that entertaining this way.In fact, I have made women ask me out using this technique. This is indeed a very powerful technique.
When you talk a lot, you just have fun.People don't respect you but they will all laugh with you.Women consider you as equal or inferior to them.Of course, you have to initiate conversation every time. The advantage is you do not give a fuck about what others think or not.
My strategy with women
I am that guy who is into technical stuffs.Women do not understand it and although its so fascinating for me, its boring for them so what I do is to watch the most important keywords when they talk.I do not interfere when they talk but if there is a space, I reply them using the keyword they used. This is an amazing strategy if you do not get anything to talk with women. If you are rambling, all these do not really matter though.

I find this tough. Often in a social situation I have nothing to say. If I don't say anything there will be a lingering awkward silence. If I say something from top of my head I'd say something absolutely stupid.
[–]lJunKunl 2 points2 points2 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
This is difficult.
I've tried this and my head shuts down, I don't know what to say. A girl was unbelievably into me and I blew it by trying to be "nonreactive and not desperate" and she ended up telling everyone that I was socially awkward and didn't know how to talk.
In other instances when this doesn't happen, I'm creepy.
Advice?
[–]stawek 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Well, judging by this you are socially awkward :)
Just keep practicing. It's a learnable skill.
Btw: you might remember that episode for long time. Nobody else does. People don't give a rat's ass about anyone other than themselves. Don't be scared of "making an idiot out of yourself", cause most likely nobody will even notice.
[–]R3v4mp3d 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I advice against it, but up to a degree. People don't notice/ remember only it wasn't a big thing. If it was something huge: you get in a physical brawl with a girl, the cops arrest you for something dumb and everyone sees/ knows, etc; then you will be "JunKunl who punched a girl/ got arrested/ etc".
But stawek is oddly right: the more you try not to fumble, the more anxious you are and you will make a scene in your head about even the smalkest thing. This effect snowballs and even you tripping on a rock could turn into you falling or being a "omg shit I lost balance! Sorry, I'm usually not like this. I always walk correctly I swear!" wreck.
When you start being nervous, just switch to the "oh well, it's just a simple interaction" state in your mind. Imagine that you're alone and going to the corner store to buy some meat; that is the "simple interaction" mental state that you need.

I mean this is the only honest answer. I gave different advice in a comment just now but you have to build attraction to have those intense eye looks. No one needs to be stared down unless your going to fight or fuck or have good conversational financial deals.
But for people your not on the "in" with yet too much eye contact without a reasonable flow of conversation will make you seem awkward like your dragging things out. Make sure your actually friends with them. And just look away like in the distance if you were saying on a first date scenario

My response to this is usually something along the lines of "I'm waiting for us to connect through telepathy" or "I'm waiting for you to tell me a secret". A tad hit/miss, but able to be played for laughs if necessary.
Depends. Depends I think being conversational is fine as long as you actually listen. Propagating people's bullshit is okay until you meet someone smart enough to realize your adding nothing to the conversation.
I think being yourself is better. And some days taking a break from speaking if your a conversational type.

Generally speaking less with girls appears to be a good way of measuring your “progress“ in terms of attraction.
Whenever there's a break whilst talking to a girl and she reinitiates the conversation, you're doing it right.
It pretty much boils down to being mysterious - girls love that shit.

Law 4: Always Say Less than Necessary
There are times when it is unwise to be silent. Maybe, but this runs counter to the general advice of 'cocky funny' etc. I'm a quiet guy who generally smirks rather than comments, it really doesn't help.
[–]Benny757 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
True this, OP. It has been said that women speak 70 percent more words a day than men.
In my experience this percentage really should be like 500 percent more than men
Jeezus Christo, tell me all, how do we get the gals to shut the fuck up. Anyone else driven to irritation and even to the point of bursting at all the pointless, aimless noise and chatter, and irrelevant talk coming from gals generally? It's like a constant, constant demand for validation all day long. "Entertain me, Entertain me" they say, all day long.
Ugh. MGTOW

What's an example of trying to "one up" someone?

Random Guy: "This one time at a party, I had sex with 2 different girls in the same night!!"
You: "Oh yeah? Well the other day I had sex with 3 different girls, at the same time!!"

Lol, thing is.. I have actually had sex with three different people at the same time at a party.

"People will listen when you speak if you speak less."
In my teenage years I would talk so little that on the rare occasions I would open my mouth the entire room would go silent and listen intently on what I had to say.
[–]raisins3142 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is less true for witty and charming people. If you are funny and positive with good stories then people like listening more.
[–]Transmigratory 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So talk less = less chances to make a blunder?
[–]bleed_red_white_blue 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Different personalities need different adjustments but I was one of the hyper fucks that used this advice.
My two cents
See yourself as calm and possessing equanimity. You act from that place no matter what. Observe your thoughts and observe your body too. Watch how the blood seems to pulse faster when you feel anger and how your heart beats faster as you get excited.
One of the principal things is not to take the cheap shots all the time. I used to get lots of laughs outta people by doing this but it type cast me as this bitter clown. Nobody wants to be around that sort of negativity not even you yourself.

Great post. "Oh yeah" in particular works fucking wonders. This shit is my go to and has worked everytime I've tried it from like 5th grade to 11th grade and I imagine it will continue to work. Women are all the same, no matter the age.
The less you talk, the more they want you to talk. The more you say, the less valuable your words are. They carry less weight.

I don't agree with you, OP. I mean, you don't want to be a Sasuke Uchiha, or any other character like that because they don't exist in real life.
Are you going to be that quiet weird guy, waiting passively or do you wanna be the one to control the interaction? The later is a less manly thing to do, I agree, but it doesn't care if you have success, ala Owen Cook.

I have been conscious of my horrible habit of saying too much. Or just spouting off random shit that comes in my head. I've also found that I tend to do it when I am "too" comfortable with my surroundings. Letting the frame that I had been building, fall down.
eg. I got a job in a restaurant 2 years ago, a bit after swallowing the pill. In the beginning I wasn't tense but I also wasn't overly comfortable. Entering this new clique of people whom were all unfamiliar, I did good choosing my words and when to comment on topics. As said many times before. When I did speak, the people around me would quiet down and turn to listen.
I began stepping out of this frame I built, saying shit that had no place in any discussion (random mind). I could see the people beginning to distance from me. These people went from being welcoming and excited to see me, and I could more cold shoulders, less invitations to events out side of the workplace.
Keep your cool, Establish and maintain frame. You don't have to be fake about who you are, I am sure you are a cool person. But don't lean back to far where the chair may topple.

My god this sub has gone to shit, how the fuck did this get upvotes?
"People will listen if you speak, when you speak less." No they dont, you're just awkward at that point and uninteresting.
Next there will be top thread of "Stop socializing at a party, stand on the wall and talk to nobody, you will be mysterious and women will be attracted to you"

There is an inbetween area between talking too much and having autism. The crux of this post is to learn when to shut the fuck up and dial dosn your emotions so you don't overwhelm whoever you are talking with.

Spend all your time locked away in your apartment playing video games. If women don't know you exist, they will find you irresistable.
