While it is probably true that individual fatness is influenced by many external factors such as culture, social status and access to information, this fact alone does not help anybody.

It does not help an individual to believe that its not his fault because it takes away his motivation to change. So while, possibly factually incorrect, its still beneficial for everybody here to believe that he is solely responsible for how he looks now - and more importantly - how he looks in a year.

As others have commented, the information you provide is publicly available to everybody who cares to learn how not to be fat. However, it is still a helpful compiliation of material that you provide to people.

In terms of physiology the medical establishment knew this seven decades ago but the government became bastardized by processed food corporations after acquiring control of the European, etc markets thanks to the funds provided in the Marshal Plan, ie after WWII. They also own Loma Linda University which cranks out much of the pseudo science used to support veganism and vegetarianism. They're part of the reason processed foods are a mainstream staple in peoples diets. Though the church's intervention in national diet had a very dark Eugenics undertone, still possibly to this day as almost half the population of the US is obese... With that a chronic disease epidemic the medical establishment makes a fortune from medicating with useless, contra-indicated symptomatic treatments that never deal with root causation.

This is either a comment or a question I'm not sure which but I think the core statement of fat cells releasing glucose into the bloodstream is wrong, fat metabolism results in ketones in ketosis for energy, not glucose.

The core point of the article is definitely correct re intermittent fasting and caloric balance, but if that small detail is wrong it might cause people reading to question the rest of the article which contains good advice and as a result disregard that good advice which would be unfortunate.

Blood glucose proper I believe can come only from either carbohydrates directly or protein via gluconeogensis, not fats. That seems to be OK because ketones from fat metabolism are perfectly adequate for the energy needs of the body.

Indeed the title is right. Problem is the article tries to be smart/scientific but gets things wrong.

There are many small issues which might be left out due to not being too heavy to read likely "cells store glycogen". That's wrong. Glycogen is only, and only stored in the liver. Other similar simplifications.

What really got me is:

Wrong, wrong ,wrong. If you have type 2 diabetes and are given Insulin, then it's malpractice by the doctor (if you are not dead yet).

Type 1 diabetes is when your pancreas stops producing insulin. Hence your cells don't take up glucose and you get high blood sugar. it's most likley an autoimmune-disease but not fully known yet why it happens.

Type 2 diabetes is when your cells become unresponsive to insulin because well you were eating too much sugary stuff for decades. You cells don't take up sugar so you get high blood sugar. Adding insulin doesn't help at all here (well maybe temporary but it just makes it worse in the long run). Only cure here is your diet and avoiding high sugar/high starch foods. In fact studies show that with proper diet like keto or intermittent fasting and adjusting your life style type 2 can be 100% reversed.

Besides that I don't like the circular logic. That industrially processed food is bad for has been known for decades. No one forces you to buy and eat this food. 100% your choice and hence 100% your own fault. Time doesn't count as excuse. Making a steak + frozen vegetables takes like 10 min. Even more complex meals can easily be made in 30 min.

For context I was very skinny-fat before TRP on the way to getting just fat. The only way to stop that cycle is willpower. As in "I don't want to be fat, I need to stop this" (since many relatives are fat I knew were I was going towards). To break out of the cycle, one needs the will to do so and the willpower to stick to it. Speaking from my own experience.

Didnt think i would have to down vote Wisper ever. The content of this post is simply wrong. While reality is more complex than the memes at the start, they are all you need to know. (and energy conservation always hold in any system relevant to the human body) insulin sensitivity is mainly a function of calorie intake. The reason people are fat is not because eating less and moving more doesnt work. It's because they dont do it.

In a calorie defecit you will always lose weight. But to make that fat mass you will have to have a sufficient protein intake and do resistance training. Also take diet breaks at least ever 10% of body weight lost.

Food choices when macros and calories are accounted for has no effect on body fat. Sugar intake in the US has gone the last 20 years and obesity up. IF is worse than other diets as well since it has lower adherance than normal calorie restriction.

People try to make fat loss more complicated than it is. I lost close to 50lbs using just three pillars:

1) CICO. If your energy expenditure is higher than your energy intake you will burn fat. Don't follow a starvation diet, use a combination of cardio and calorie restriction.

2) Track everything. Use MyFitnessPal and a TDEE spreadsheet, or something similar, to track everything you do. You want to keep track of your weight, how many calories you shove into your mouth and how many calories you burn with cardio. Taking measurements of certain body parts like your waist can also help to track progress.

3) Willpower. Probably the hardest part. Watching Netflix and eating snacks is a lot easier than working out and saying no to tasty food.

Everything else barely matters if you're obese and want to become normal.

Well written and my experience matches perfect. Always struggled with an extra 25 pounds no matter how hard I excersized and diet. I could painfully lose it and never maintain the success.

Then I found 44 hr diet and doing this once a week dropped it all. In 3 months. No calorie counting and no real change to my workouts. I got to my highschool athlete weight and would be the fittest looking guy in any room I entered

Maintenance is simple. I eat a small meal around 3pm. A large one around 9pm. I eat real foods until I am full. Lift 4 x a week, stret ch and meditate 15 to 30 mins a day to recover. Cardio maybe 2x a week, nothing crazy.

Cant gain weight this way. Impossible.

bonus has also been blood pressure dropping, mood elevating, aches and pains disappearing

But it won't. Your insulin falls, and you start unpacking fat, and your blood glucose rises. Then you actually have eaten. You just ate something you already had stored in your body. And if your blood effectively ate something, why would you be hungry?

I used to do a lot of hard long distance walking (Pyrenean Highe Route, Dolomites High Routes, that sort of stuff), mostly wild camping, mostly carrying my own food. In practice, that meant eating a lot less than normal. Start of each walk, I would be hungry for a couple of days, but then it would disappear. Sure, I'd come back from the walk a whole lot lighter (eat maybe 1800C a day, burn 3500C a day), but the point is correct. Once your body starts converting stored fat, the hunger disappears.

Get 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight.....eat at 9-10 calories per lb of scale weight...and as that weight goes down, ADJUST.....and most will get to where they want to be.

I've always thought measuring food in "calories" is really strange. Because a calorie is a unit of energy, not a unit of matter. A food is XX grams of thing 1, XX grams of thing 2, XX grams of thing 3, and so on. Calories as a food measurement is a shortcut someone came up with based on the amount of energy human bodies generate when breaking carbon-carbon bonds in organic molecules. It's like measuring the height of a building by dropping a rock from the top and seeing how pulverized it gets when it hits the ground.

But the amount of energy-producing food you eat definitely matters as much or more as what the food is made of. If I eat 10,000 calories worth of protein powder every day for a year or 1,000 calories worth of pure sugar every day for a year, I'll get a lot skinnier eating the sugar.

Once you get your diet to a point where you're no longer a fatass gorging himself on 6000 calories a day but can eat reasonable amounts of food, that's where fine-tuning your diet to eat good shit and not piles of insulin spiking crap foods starts to pay off.

I think these things are meant to be more of a guidelines than exact facts. If you go into specifics right away a normie won't be able to digest all the information. Also these general guidelines work for the most part.

I think you should look into what kind of shit you people in US shove down to your childrens throats when they get off from breast feeding. That's the initial problem there and that's one of the major reasons why you have obesity epidemy there. Increasing the amount of knowledge related to minor details doesn't really help when the problem is really deeply rooted. Also when I visited US, it was actually damn hard to find a restaurant which had actually overall healthy food so availability (unless you cook yourself) seems to be a problem as well atleast in certain cities and areas.

Once sugar is converted into glycogen it literally is just a molecule and does not store any information whatsoever regarding whether it came from cake, rice, or fruit. And it absolutely does take the same amount of effort to burn that calorie regardless of how you put it on. Losing weight is a matter of eating less and/or burning more. The author of this article sounds like one of these "muh genetics" losers who takes no responsibility for his own fitness.

I'm happy for people to be hung up on nutrition myths which have been disproven, just means as someone who tracks calories and macros, I can eat pretty much whatever I want (within reason) and still look great year round.

Do low-carb advocates and people who are afraid of insulin know that protein spikes insulin...? Yes insulin will shuttle nutrients into cells. Don't want to gain fat? Create an energy deficit. Your insulin will still spike (even on keto/low carbs) but it's secondary to energy balance.

Modern day deniers of CICO are as funny as flat Earthers.

Idk if the red pill to losing weight for good is intermittent fasting. You have tons of people swearing by keto, paleo, meat only, IIFYM etc.

But i can say there’s a lot of blue pill conditioning with the food industry and also other other industries (eg look up our banking system and see how our money really works).

They underplayed the dangerous effects of sugar back in the 70s/80s. Coca Cola funded studies to make fat the public enemy even though we need fat to derive all kinds of hormones. And since then, we saw an incredible rise in low fat alternatives like margarine or foods that took out the fat completely but increased salt/sugar.

The food industry is filled with blue pills like: trans fats, low sugar versions of shitty food, questionable sugar substitutes like aspartame and acesulfame K, bromine in bread flour, brominated vegetable oil in Mountain Dew, and all those weird dyes like Yellow 5, Blue 3 etc. A fair few of these are banned in Europe and other places eg bromine and the dyes, this should tell you what the US government values more: bribes from big food industries over public health.

100kcals of industrial made trans fat isn’t the same as 100kcals as saturated fat from meat or butter.

Aspartame has different effects on insulin than normal/natural sweeteners. All these man made artificial compounds are made to mimic their natural counterparts but in reality, they don’t. They typically have extra effects such as inducing bigger insulin spikes or promoting fat cell production or irritating epithelium.

The red pill is giving up Monsanto convenience easy food riddled with all kinds of toxic industrial preservatives and placing greater emphasis on cooking fresh meals with ORGANIC meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables.

Hmm not really accurate, goes into decent detail about the hormones but ignores the mechanics of how that all works and perpetuates the myth about "processed foods". From a biological point of view there is no difference between "processed" and "not processed", it's just chemistry. If we really had to nail down a reason, it's that "processed foods" tend to be calorie dense due to all the starch they add (not the HFCS). Starch is the plant analogue to human fat cells, extremely high density of glucose molecules just ready to be used in a biochemical process.

Our bodies are indeed complex but energy utilization isn't, it's actually fairly simple but poor terminology, myths and bro-science confuse the hell out of people. For example if I say sugar whats the first thing people think of? That white stuff in the store or kitchen right? Does any of us think of a sack of potatoes or a bag of rice when we hear sugar? Yet those are both far more common for energy usage then that white stuff. Breads are just plant starch baked into an easily consumable form, same with pasta.

Take that nasty carb loaded pizza for example, where exactly are the carbs at? Not the cheese (the culture process removes the lactose), not the vegetables, very little in the tomato sauce or meats, nope it's mostly in the bread at the bottom.

The prime reason so many people are overweight is that shitty foot diagram we were all taught in school. You know the one recommending 6-11 servings per day of high density carbohydrates. We all got used to eating a diet designed around rural farm workers that then lead to every food known to man having carbohydrates added to it in bulk.

As for the body obeying the laws of thermodynamics, sorry man but your pretty wrong there, all things in the universe obey those laws, every last sub-atomic particle and super massive black hole. Every single thing we do has an energy cost measured in calories. Every chemical process, every breath, even every thought. "Fat" is just stored energy in the form of glycorol / glycogen and we are both using and storing energy all the time. The very act of storing energy consumes energy and different energy sources consume different amounts with the cheapest being glucose and the most expensive being ketons. Losing "fat" really is just a simple matter of energy out > energy in. Now getting to that point might be extremely hard, especially for people conditioned from childhood to depend on an energy dense diet.

The article takes one set of false premises and replaces it with other false premises. The obesity pandemic and all modern chronic diseases come from one single source: pollution—mainly pesticides. Detox and replace with natural water and foods and your body will spontaneously heal itself.
