20s where I am is all about grafting, though I have met every kind of person under the spectrum of diligence: Impossibly ambitious, hardworking but lacking passion, and of course people who coast through life even in their 30s, no responsibility and no ambition.
You mentioned that your friends are high achievers, but it could also be that you have never associated with lazy young dudes! And there are many - barley scraping by in college, content playing xbox and smoking weed most of the day, living with parents and not pulling their weight in chores or finances.
Keep casting your line, and perhaps diversify where you meet women. OLD attracts a lot of low-effort people, you may have better luck mingling in social clubs, hobbyist groups and community service. All the best!
I think a lot of men think exactly like you do. What we however fail to realize is that their "hobby" or what's interesting to them is building and maintaining relationships with their friends.
You might not go to a cafe often with your buds... because neither you nor them care enough about that stuff. If anything you have a couple of beers a Friday or sat evening.
Concerning money. Women care and also don't care about money the same way men do. Mainly because it does not increase their fitness value as much as it increases a man's. Have you ever dated a woman because she was rich? Exactly... However, plenty of women like dating wealthy men because wealthy men can spend money and create a fun life/dating. If you're poor it's decently difficult to have an utter blast at a date. You want to be able to go on small weekend trips, fly abroad often...
Imagine if you could do anything on a first date, it would be pretty expensive... Probably run you upwards of $1000-2000.
This is one of the reasons why I think the wage gap between men and women is always going to exist, simply because men increase their fitness value by having resources.
it's unambiguous fact that women are exceeding men in education and qualifications. i don't think that's easy.
Yes, but education and qualifications don't necessarily mirror hard work, persistence and burning passions to achieve something. A lot of people are studying, just because it was expected from them to do that
this is very likely some form of mental illness which, yes, is running rampant in the younger generation.
What do you think is the cause of it and how can we make it better?
i think you are privileged almost beyond belief and should keep these sorts of opinions to yourself.
I came from nothing, my parents always had a negative balance on their bank accounts but I had their support (most of the time). I worked my ass off for the past 5 years, even working while on vacations / sick days so yes, I am privileged, but I invested my time, sweat, blood and tears to bring myself to this situation I am in. I am free to share my opinions with everyone I want.
Yes, but education and qualifications don't necessarily mirror hard work, persistence and burning passions to achieve something.
sure if you call the highest levels of education and academics not hard work, requireing little persistence and no burning passion; i guess that does defeat my argument.
What do you think is the cause of it and how can we make it better?
good question, but first things first,
I came from nothing
not very original, but quite evocative. i don't know many people who came from nothing and not only did they succeed but all their friends did as well. basically, this is your problem. you genuinely think you've struggled. your brain hasn't even fully developed yet, and you stand ready to pass judgement on the subject of effort? you're embarrassing yourself.
What do you think is the cause of it and how can we make it better?
60% of americans couldn't raise 500 dollars if the thing that got them to work relied on them raising it. you can't even fathom that, let alone what it does to a person over time.
there is no money going into the mental health sector, or any other sector that actually makes people mentally healthier.
fixing these things would be a start.
UPDATE: the only time downvotes are better than upvotes is when your downvotes are paired with zero rebuttals to the points you made. i think it's something to do with how obviously impotent, angry, and defeated people are lol
