or be like i was and be a sadsack aimlessly wandering around not knowing any of the cool bands or songs or having anything to talk to anyone about
You need a foundation of social competence and well-roundedness before you can expect cold approach to yield more than just being numbed to rejection
[–]DeliberatelyInsane 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree with what you say. However.
Social competence isn't going to magically pop up one day. To get better in social situations, you have to put yourself in social situations and push the envelope. It is like lofting weights. You cant lift weights that you don't have muscles for. And you can't have muscles of you don't lift weights.
What OP has shared here is very important. Doing cold approaches is a great way to become a socially competent person. Do it like weight training. Everytime you do a cold approach try to do a little more than the previous time.
I remember when I had started doing cold approaches. For the first two days i just went to the places where o thought I could find quality women. Then one day i just asked women for time. Then opinion openers for a MONTH. Then I started stacking routines. Eventually, I was comfortable asking for numbers. So on so forth.
I remember one of the early RSD programs where they said that you're either a champ or a chump. And what you are is not determined by how successful you are at seduction, but by how you consistently keep trying in spite of getting rejected.
Seduction, I have learnt is a numbers game. The more women you talk to, higher the chances for you to get laid. I am fairly successful with hot women. Yet my hit:miss ratio is 1:4.
Going to sound a bit preachy here, but it's okay to fail. However, every time you fail, fail better.
So if you see a cute girl you'd like to meet. Go talk to her and try to ask her out. What's the worst that could happen? She wouldn't go out with you right? She is not going to go out with you if you don't ask her anyway. But at least when you ask there is some probability that she would.
Edit: please ignore the spelling mistakes. Darn my thick thumbs.
[–]vardarac 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I'm not disagreeing with that at all, but I view it as part of a whole rather than a one-or-the-other. I see lots of topics where it's like "literally become Jason Statham or you'll never feel like an alpha male" and you get these guys who do nothing but "work on themselves" and become rich ripped super smart guys who never learn to actually approach or talk to girls and then you have guys who only approach but they're flat broke and the only place they have to bounce is their parents' house an hour away with a boring room full of garbage
[–]Romantic_Adventurer 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
makes sense!
[–]vardarac 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah like, it's crazy - I even remember this one girl approaching me, asking for directions and having body language I read even then as interested, and then that interest dissipating quickly when she realized I was a tired and confused weirdo lol
[–]Romantic_Adventurer 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Were there any drugs involved? Things get kinda weird with drugs, especially when talking about these things.
I found that my biggest insecurities came out with drugs, which made it easier for me to fix them by doing therapy, reading books or studying courses (or changing habits, etc)
If pickup and all those things are a sensitive topic, it is best to just spark up conversastions and make yourself feel good, tell some stories, have some fun. If things happen, they happen.

vibing to the music
see other people vibing to music
"I've never heard of these guys before! They're awesome"
"yeah it's pretty cool!"
"You come to [festival] just to see them?"
"[basically any response]"
"You look more like a [slightly embarrassing band playing later]-type person"
OR
"I came for [some other bands] but these guys are a good surprise/my new favorite. Always fun to see something new"
if they say they came for another band, or don't know anyone playing there, or anything that gives you something to grab on to, you can get conversation going naturally from there
If it feels cold-shoulder, just move closer to the front or towards the beer stand with calm purpose if you're concerned about looking like a "sadsack aimlessly wandering around". And this is just one kind of shitty idea that I'm sure could be improved with either more thought or less, and definitely by finding something more spontaneous/in the moment. Whole idea is be a fun positive vibe, the words don't matter as much.

The internet is generally a place for people who lack social skills of course it's full of pc idiots and white knights.
[–]finallypickup[S] 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's so upsetting to watch people question something that can really dramatically improve their lives
[–]appypollylogiess -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Can you really blame them with all the propaganda? Not to mention the general isolation and anxiety of our generation. It’s easier than ever to be consumed by fear and despair. Just like it’s easier than ever to fuck 100 women in a month or whatever crazy stat exists out there
[–]ExtremeNihilism 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The worst dating advice you can get is from feminists, because they are filled with ideology with no basis in the real world and most women don't act or believe like feminists do. I've had enough women basically yell at me, urge me, tell me, etc to do what feminists would consider rape--thst is, not seek "enthusiastic consent" but make a bold move. Some women want to be taken and, to use a word WOMEN have told me, "ravaged."
[–]FaithInStrangers94 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
On the other side of the spectrum hardcore pick up guys are all egotists and Sex addicts
[–]7Birdies 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Right on brody. Ain’t nothing wrong with taking initiative to respectfully date, have sex, or get in a relationship.
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I saw the curvy post too, the guy just needed advice but since this is Reddshit the white knights jumped to attack.
[–]AutistNerd 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
English is my second language. Do you think i can do cold approach? Is that a disadvantage in dating?
[–]stupiddummydotcom 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nah man you totally still can
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cold approach changed my life. Before knowing the dynamics I couldn’t approach anyone.
Now, I set records in sales. My life is easier. I’m a better person.
[–]The_Snake_Plissken 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No cold approaches, no human race (before the Internet).
[–]itsazdeen 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Someone had to say that. It's Ok if you're newbie but If you're really don't believe in cold approach you shouldn't be in this community, period
[–]ProductivityMonster 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
reddit is overrun by female supremacists in certain subs. Their "advice" on dating for straight men is extremely biased against men. They also lack the nuance to explain how to do it correctly and instead give horrible blanket advice like never approach women in public. The biggest takeaway from this is that there are assholes of both sexes and many of them are on reddit.
It's honestly more entertainment than taking them seriously at this point. The dating subs are a joke. When you see blatantly oversimplified posts like "why is it bad if I (a woman) like physically attractive men" get 500+ upvotes, you know it's a joke of a sub.
[–]Alecstocker 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you 100 percent man. Doing things old school is the best. You have to make an effort and conquer nerves and be brave instead of just hiding behind social anxiety. It's normal to feel nervous. It's like any anxious feelings are always chalked up nowadays to crippling anxiety. Most nervous feelings are normal and human. I never have done dating apps and never will. It's not as genuine. You can't hear the tone of their voice. See their facial expressions. They can't see you. Cold approach is a gift and I don't care what critics say. If you do it in a nice natural way it's not creepy at all.
[–]OuchCharlieOw 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sometime around the beginning of the pandemic or maybe before, a large amount of incels and a large amount of women joined and now post and comment in this sub. I’ve lurked for years and can see the difference in trends. This was very much a pua/cold approach/field report subreddit a long while ago now idk what
[–]ExtremeNihilism 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
It's not the incels that are telling men cold approaching is creepy.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
What are you talking about, incels hate cold approach
[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
No women in general don’t want to be cold approached….
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There’s a reason people do it, it works. Why tf would I care what random women think? It’s always the virgins on the sub tryna make statements like this
[–]Kronuk 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like something you'd hear a woman tell you. I forgot we should all listen to women about what they want. Might as well let them make all the decisions in relationships too. I'm not a hater just a man that believes in making more men leaders. Leaders take action and go for what they want.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It doesn't matter what women think they want. It's your job as a man to decide and make it their reality.
Cold approach is the oldest game there is, it's primal on many levels. Go back a million years and you'd find female protohumans being selected by prime males for mating in this way.
[–]ExtremeNihilism 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They do, but only if they already find the guy attractive in some way and are in the mood. Women since the dawn of time have expected men to read their minds.
The only women that say shit like that are neurotic feminists. Every other woman has, and I quote, wanted "to be ravaged." I play things the feminist way because I have no intention of getting MeTooed, but the frustration and sometimes anger from women is fucking palpable. Taking dating advice from women, especially ideologically-oriented ones, is a virgin mistake. Listen to your female friend that says she hates other women, even if it's a bit hyperbolically, because they have a reason for saying that because they know.
The dudes pulling in chicks aren't waiting for women to ask men to touch them, and such.
[–]willgo-waggins 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
There is a vast difference between cold approach in a decent, normal and gentlemanly fashion, and being an aggressive asshat and harassing women.
I think you’re getting a little sensitive in your special spots with your post OP. I don’t see hardly anyone here saying that you should not cold approach in an appropriate way. I do see others and myself criticizing the overly aggressive and PUA based crap.
[–]InfectionRx -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
whats the COLD approach
[–]living_thylife -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]ExchangePowerful3225 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Lmfaooo the guy who posted about calling a woman curvy on a dating app WAS a fucking weirdo… it was a pretty unanimous consensus that he should not have said what he said. How is that “unbelievably PC” or related whatsoever to your point about the cold approach? 🤨
[–]jsbach123 -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I haven't read any post that tells others not to cold approach. But I've read reasonable posts to suggest doing the PUA thing is a bad idea (which it is). Is it possible these two things (being a PUA and doing cold approach) are mixed up? They're not the same things.
[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Use dating apps if they work for you, way more efficient than cold approach.
[–]Rich-Anteater-9468 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Someone who doesn't approach believes this.
[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Lol the amount of posts I see of ppl saying that have a 1% success rate tells me enough about cold approach.
While I’m here messaging my matches and inviting them over while not wasting a second.
[–]Rich-Anteater-9468 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah? And how often is that happening?
[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Like 5 lays for every 30-40 matches.
Which is better than any cold approach stat unless you a celeb.
[–]Rich-Anteater-9468 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Whats the average amount of time between having someone at your place though?
[+]Honest_Confidence804 -17 points-16 points-15 points 4 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link
so genuine question, when doing cold approach, you only approach women based on their appearance. don't you think it is f***ing shallow? how on earth you know you guys have compatibility on a minimum level? or you are after casual sex only?
[–]finallypickup[S] 15 points16 points17 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
do i think its shallow to approach women I find attractive...? Are you serious?
How do I know we have compatibility? Of course I don't fucking know, that is literally the entire point of approaching, I say hi to find out.
Depends how you define casual sex, but generally I'm not into hookups with ladies I don't vibe with on a platonic level too.
[+]Honest_Confidence804 -10 points-9 points-8 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I think I didn't word it very well... what I'm saying is that when you approach your classmate, for example, you already know tons about her and you have some conviction that you guys are compatible personality wise. with a random girl off the street, you know absolutely nothing about her, so it will be highly unlikely to be compatible with each person, unless you approach 100s of women, which can turn into a full-time job real quick.
[–]7Birdies 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean what it so wrong about wanting to try and date someone you think is cute? Why are you even on this sub if you think sex and romance is so shallow?
[–]Honest_Confidence804 -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think a lot of people on this sub are socially awkward/outcast but I'm new and try to not be judgmental
[–]7Birdies 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I mean you are being very judgmental and out here cursing out people who wanna talk to a girl because she’s cute… like how do you think we all were born? Lol. Mama and dada said hello and did the deed
[–]thesubconsciousmale 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Picture your life once you’re out of school and then come back to this thought. Everyone is a stranger until you get to know them, and there is nothing wrong with approaching women you find attractive to figure out if you’re compatible. You could argue that social groups are a better way to meet women that are more likely to be compatible, but no use in limiting your dating pool. Just go approach.
Yup. Social groups are ideal and not always reality in a globalized world. Gotta adapt and say hello to pretty lil miss.
[–]Honest_Confidence804 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I wish I was attractive enough to do cold-approach. My classmate crushes somehow didn't care in the past that I wasn't super hot but women on the street only judge you based on your looks
[–]7Birdies 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Well then… Don’t attack the people who are brave enough to do what you choose not to do.
You can do anything you like, even if you’re not the most attractive person out there.
You’ll get the hang of this as you get older. Most people on this sub are adults 21+ and live in a different world than you. We’re not surrounded by classmates and community anymore like school and college age kids are.
Just try to stay humble and show respect. Don’t go shitting on people coz they’re braver than you.
[–]Velociraptor2018 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, that’s basically the idea. You base the initial approach on attraction. Talking to her you see if there’s any initial attraction, you go out and get to know one another a little bit, if you like each other still you go out again. Repeat until you wife up. Not a hard concept
[–]Crisia_1234 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah ofc you need to approach 100s of women to get good results. And that's basically a part time job (~20 hours per week) at the beginning. As you get better with time, you can reduce the approaching time because you will get more results. And in terms of compatibility, it's even better because you have the chance to meet way more women compared to your friend circle. So therefore a higher chance of women you find attractive (physically and personality wise).
[–]greenlight144000 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Shut up I bet you swipe left on 99 percent of guys on tinder based on their looks
[–]Emmy-bby 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I mean dating apps are basically the same thing u swipe if u like how they look I’m sure most dudes don’t scroll to see the interests and things like that. Ofc I’ve fell for people who didn’t fit my normal “type” even married one! I think cold approach is about looks and I’m sure how long those lasted or if it is just casual sex but it can definitely be a start to a relationship just not sure if it’ll be long term ?
[–]7Birdies 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I asked my waiter out once because she was cute and we had fun banter going. After a few dates we kept it platonic. We’re good friends now who keep up now and then. What’s so shallow or wrong about that?
[–]Emmy-bby 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I never said it was shallow og commenter did. I just said I’m not too sure how long the relationship would last! I actually said dating apps are like the same thing too and a dating app is how I met my husband! Not bashing on it bc physical attraction is a must in relationships
[–]7Birdies 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
My bad I didn’t mean it as asking you personally what’s wrong. I really like what you said actually! And appreciate you sticking up for human sexuality! Lol
I meant it in general towards the people on this sub hating on that. I should have delineated better but I didn’t and made you feel attacked as a consequence. Really sorry!
[–]Emmy-bby 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Ofc! Ur all good I don’t think it’s shallow to approach someone on just looks but also think broadening ur type/ bending the standards u have can be helpful bc I think it’s hard to find the right person in such a narrow box yk :)
[–]7Birdies 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for giving me a bit of grace :) I agree! I actually like in person interactions so much more than online for that reason. It’s very easy to set your filters online and move on but in person you get to notice so much more about their mannerisms, personality, etc. that attracts you outside of your “type.” At least that’s my experience
[–]Emmy-bby 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly! Plus online you don’t know if they are faking some kind of persona to sound like ur person but irl it’s hard to fake that long !
[–]7Birdies 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I like how u think :)
[–]Adjustedwell 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Cold approach is pick-up. Everything else is a a relative of pick-up.
