The system is jacked against men and I appreciate what I've seen from this subreddit.

Quick background on my situation:

The woman I had a baby with was in college at the time, unemployed, and as such, I had to pay $1200/month in support. That was fine but fast forward to present day and I find that she has graduated with a bachelors degree and is now in a masters program.

The court paperwork (I did it all myself) had to be submitted to the court, the child support agency and the mother of my child. According to the instructions on the forms, I had to mail the mother, her copy of the forms. I had the forms notarized, went to the post office and sent it certified with a return receipt. The tracking on the USPS site showed that it went to its destination and was flagged as undeliverable, then forwarded across the country to an address I did not recognize, was rejected again and then sent back to me. I have this letter and have not opened it in case the court asks if I mailed it.

The courts have given her to the 20th of this month to reply to my request for modification.

My question to reddit:

I was wondering if getting her financial affidavit info would outweigh the obvious legal benefit of a default judgment.

UPDATE 10/16

I decided to have someone I know pay one of those background services for her address. Lo and behold she is now hours away from me in a different state/city than I thought she was in. She did not notify me or the court about her change. Information is power.

My head is spinning.
