I have fantasized about having sex with someone much older than me: 34.2% of women and 48.0% of men

This one is surprising and seems to oppose the TRP idea about young women wanting older men and older men wanting young women.

That said...fantasies are not always representative of true sexual desires. So maybe it doesn't contradict it due to that.

"I have fantasized" != "I often fantasize"... This survey doesn't tell you much about the rates people have these fantasies in day to day life.

In the article they say anything 3 and up on a scale of 1 to 7 was considered a yes. I'm not sure how accurate that is. If 4 means neither agree or disagree and 3 is probably not, I'd like to see the percentages of 5 and up, and 6 and up.

However there is a lot of conflicting information on this. For example here's a study specifically on women's sexual fantasies which suggests women fantasise about some of those things at a higher rate than this article suggests.

The results of the study, (which also explored other sexual and aggressive fantasies, self esteem, attitudes to sex and other personality testing) are that 52% of the women had fantasies about forced sex by a man: 32% had fantasies about being raped by a man: 28% - forced oral sex by a man: 16% - forced anal sex: 24% - incapacitated: 17% - forced sex by a woman: 9% - raped by a woman: 9% - forced oral sex by a woman. Overall, 62% reported having had at least one of these fantasies.

The point of the study was to estabilish which sexual fantasies are rare and which are not.

It was not to compare the difference in sexual fantasies between genders and it cannot be used as such, because it lacks a certain critical component: frequency.

This is like asking a group of straight and gay men "have you ever engaged in anal stimulation" and then concede that there is no difference between the two groups because they both said "yes".

Oddly enough this post fits with my trip to a dungeon last weekend - there were more dominant women than men (although more women in general): I know as many submissive men as dominant men in the kink scene. It is accepted in the realms specifically dedicated to dominance and submission that males and females enjoy these things at roughly equivalent rates.

Well, that data set shows that women in the 30 and under age group desire men older than/the same age as them.

Also, it's inherently misleading because the factor of age has a very obvious indirect correlation with objective attractiveness. I don't think anyone on TRP says that the average 40 year old is more physically attractive than the average 20 year old.

What they do say is that greater age, up to a point, is an asset due to financial independence, established career (power positions) and general maturity.

Also, their relative attractiveness (compared to women their own age) increases drastically, that's the biggest factor, and is pretty much undeniable.

Look at what they do, not what they say. Read "A Billion Wicked Thoughts", which actually looks at porn viewing preferences rather than stated fantasy.

The issue with this study, and indeed nearly every Psychology study, is that it relies upon self-reported surveys.

Thus, we are forced to assume that people only have conscious sexual fantasies, people are self-aware or have introspected enough to deduce what those fantasies are, that these people are honest to themselves about their own sexual fantasies, and finally that these same people are willing to be honest on this type of survey.

I am of the opinion that sexuality is mostly a subconscious process. Sexual fantasies are thus very often in the category of (to quote Marx) "Sie wissen das nicht, aber sie tun es".

Ok thats interesting ut that does explain whay 75% of women in BDSM are subs %8 that are dommes and %14 that are switches, nor does it explain the 50% of doms, the 30% that ares ubs or the 18 percent that are switches for men.

I feel like the phrasing of these questions "have fantasized" is a skewing things a little. Maybe when I was 15 or 16 as a boy I would fantasize about older women but the age group of women I think about has never really changed. Also I know my sample size is small but in my experiences girls I have known have had varied fantasies and things they want depending on the partner. Finally saying you have fantasized about something could have happened once and may not be a common fantasy, I think if we could determine the strength and desire of these fantasies in each person would give us a better view.

In a way these results are very redpill though. What this tells me is that sex is about power, and people deal with that dynamic through fantasies of being totally dominant or totally submissive.

I think the more we try bring sex into a hyper-conscious, rationalist frame, the more people will unconsciously desire to make that underlying power dynamic explicit in some way.

A lot of these differences dont really support TRP thought. More than half of men want to be dominated? A third of woman dont? Half of women want to dominate?

How close all these percentages are tends to imply cultural not biological differences on most of these topics.

When tackling that question, you have to take into account that female on male-rape is an entirely different animal than male on female-rape. Since we can assume that the rape fantasy regardless of gender usually includes an attractive member of the opposite sex (I'm heteronormative here), the question how "rapey" that scenario actually is arises. And a rape scenario would have one very particular precondition: the woman is so horny that she practically forces the guy into having sex - which for men coincidentally equals "not having to do anything to get sex" (yay!!!), but "being hot enough that a (presumably hot) woman is willing to go to great lengths to have sex with you" (yay!!!#2).

Female rape fantasies are already probably extremely outlandish when compared to the real thing, but I dare to say that male rape fantasies very likely blow them out of the water.
