I think everyone has their own definition for these terms. More or less objective/descriptive will be "anyone who has lots of good options to date" or "anyone who is hard to get due to an abundance of choice they have".

From the other hand, these terms often are used for insults. "Low value" is anyone who pisses you off or who you find unattractive for some reason. I think it's demeaning in some way and we should avoid using these terms.

By changing "high value" into "a great partner" I can define that it's a person who:

Mature. They work on their own plans and inspirations, they're good at communication, they're emotionally stable and available, can express their vulnerability and feelings. They act according to their morals.
Has similar plans and values (no homophobe/sexist/pro-lifer/racist/deeply religious etc). They believe in equality, want to have egalitarian relationships and they care about environment.
Sexually compatible to me.
Has similar hobbies and interests (art, languages, drawing etc.)
Financially stable. Most likely has a good education and has a white-collar job. There's nothing wrong with other jobs, but I don't want to worry about my partner's health and well-being while they're working.
Supportive, honest, caring, attentive.

I might have forgotten something, but these are the first things that come to mind. It doesn't look that rare, but it's hard to find everything in one person and I think that these qualities do make one a great partner.

Kind, attentive, romantic, emotionally available, masculine, educated, and supportive of their partner.

A man or woman's value is set by the general desireability from the opposite sex within a particular marketplace. Other people recognize it and it raises your own personal stature.

In other words, if other people in your cohort look at your girl/guy and often say "I wish I had that", then they are high value.

For example, my wife is cute (even at 40), kind, feminine, doting, thin, and sporty by American standards. She's also the spitting image of a classy, educated UMC housewife and mom.

So, she is seen as high value, and raises my stature. Most of my male peers want a wife like her. Me? I'm not shit. Ain't nobody checking for my average ass in LA.

When we go back to her home country, I'm seen as so much more alpha than dudes over there. I'm taller, more charismatic, more muscular, richer, and adventurous. She's seen as just kinda average, so I raise her stature a lot.

Biggest thing is... value is not static. It changes based on the market.

Like a lot of things, sexual marketplace value is hard to define but most people know it when they see it.

Back in 2005 I dated two women who were superficially very similar. They looked so similar they could easily have been mistaken for sisters. They had similar UMC but ethnic backgrounds. However, one was just sexier and more fun than the other.

Personally I believe what is high value depends from person to person. A man who is an introvert may not find an extroverted woman to be high value at all and vice versa.

But for me I suppose a HVM and HVW would be:

Able to communicate issues and come to a compromise to solve them. People who can't communicate and won't meet you half way emotionally are probably bad relationship partners.

Financially stable (now this does not mean six figures)

Have a solid social network (because a person who relies on their partner as their only emotional support is going to be exhausting! And because having solid friendships mean they're good at maintaining relationships at all)

I'd assume attractive, or at the very least not unattractive (whatever attractive is will differ but obviously there are trends for beauty standards)

Are interesting and able to hold conversation well

Can clean and maintain a household and is able to come to an agreement on how to equitably split housework. Note I said equity because if one partner works 60 hours a week, I expect the other partner to do more chores. If you both work 40 hours then you should both put in the same time and effort into chores. If one of you works and the other doesn't, then the one who doesn't should do the housework.

Is not morbidly obese.

Now variable attributes can be:

Introversion/extroversion to match your partner

Physical activity that matches your partner (a gym nut and a couch potato are probably not good for each other)

Style of cooking (picky eaters and foodies should not share meals. Trust me. It sounds stupid but a vegan and a meat lover would be a bad idea too)

Sexuality. People with high sex drives should probably pair up with someone with a high sex drive. People who have high sex drives wanting a partner with a low sex drive (because maddona-whore complex) and then complaining about dead bedrooms make me laugh

High value traits across men and women are:

maturity, mental and emotional
self-sufficiency, as in they don’t need their hand held to live their own life, can support themselves and get things done, sets/reaches goals, etc.
good grooming beyond just hygiene - they present themselves well
integrity - they act according to their moral/ethical code and they’re true to their word
they can play the game and earn respect
they can communicate and work to build rather than break down (this one is more specific to being a high value relationship partner)

From what I’ve seen, men are generally rated higher when they show traditionally masculine traits like leadership, assertiveness, and physical/economic prowess.

It seems like women are generally rated higher when they show traditionally feminine traits like being warm/nurturing/supportive, home or environment building, and physical beauty.

A high-value man is one who is rich, powerful, and charismatic.

A high-value women is young, beautiful and kind.

Simplistic, but resoundingly true in a lot of people’s minds.

A true high-value man to me is a rich and powerful man who is kind, loving and honest. I have yet to meet one.
