I'm a freshman (18) just starting at a state school, and just got back from orientation today. Aside from all the typical points of interest discussed, such as studying or financial advice, there was an hour dedicated to a presentation about sexual assault. The man who spoke for most of the time was a textbook white knight: he demonized men while removing all accountability from women. The speaker cited bullshit statistics several times throughout the presentation. I knew what I was getting into right as I walked through the doors of that auditorium, but the statistics were even crazier than anything I've seen from Tumblr! "1 in 2 women will be sexually assaulted some time during their college career." Some people gasped at these numbers, I could tell it was bullshit right away. My school has a student population of about 30,000, with 55% of the students female. According to those numbers, of the 16,500 female students at my school, 8,250 of them are sexual assault victims. Imagine that. On one college campus, there are over 8,000 sexual assault victims. There is no feasible way that's real. Even the most dangerous cities in the world have lower sexual assault rates.

Aside from the bullshit statistics, what really angered me was the white knighting regarding girls going to parties. According to the speaker, us men have to "hold ourselves to higher standards. No means no isn't enough." The speaker talked about how men encourage women to drink, and "take advantage of them." He also told in detail how men convince women to go with them to a place where they would be alone, whether it be a side room or even the man's own home. In short, all men who seduce women are pieces of shit.

While the speaker antagonized men, he went on to victimize women, and how it's never the fault of the victim. Full disclaimer before I continue: I don't believe women ever deserve to be sexually assaulted, I'm just saying that they often make poor decisions that land them in easily avoidable situations. The speaker told us that we should NEVER slut-shame women, that no matter what they do, no matter how skimpy they dress, they never have any responsibility for sexual assaults. "You wouldn't tell a man not to wear a nice suit in a dangerous area so he wouldn't be robbed, would you?" Except that logic is completely flawed. Let's say I park my car in the middle of Detroit, or for that matter, any major city, and I leave my Macbook sitting on my passenger seat. Did I deserve to get it stolen? No. Did the thief have the right to take it? No. Should I be surprised when I return to my car to find my window smashed and my Macbook missing, and could I have easily avoided the situation by not taking the Macbook or even hiding it? Yes. We were told that a woman should be able to "unwind after a long week by going to a party, and she shouldn't have to stay home to avoid sexual assault." This is bullshit. People don't go to parties to relax. People, especially high school or college students, go to parties to

  1. Get shitfaced drunk
  2. Have sex, and use alcohol to diminish responsibility

If a girl isn't interested in sex, she shouldn't be partying, not to mention drinking. Many "rapes" are just women who had a few drinks, and willingly spread their legs apart for Chads. Why is it that a girl isn't responsible for anything sexual while under the influence of alcohol, yet she can get in trouble for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated? And who's to say Chad didn't have a few drinks himself? Why can Chad consent, but she can't?

Finally, the speaker heavily encouraged the males in the audience to white knight. He said that we always have to get involved every time a man as much as disrespects a woman. He showed a video clip about a girl who had left her abusive boyfriend. The boyfriend went up to her and started yelling at her, but a male friend of the girl stepped in and told him to stop. I understand that there are legitimate instances of abuse where intervention is appropriate, but I'm not going to stick my nose in between every time I see a guy arguing with a girl. Additionally, the speaker said that it's wrong how rape is a "he said, she said" crime, unlike other crimes, where if somebody were to be robbed, the robber can't declare his innocence. So we should take all rape claims at face value, and charge men even when there's zero evidence.

Overall, the narrative is the same for every presentation about sexual assault: all men are inherently bad for wanting to have sex with women, and women should face zero consequences for their irresponsible behavior. I feel like I'm in college at a terrible time period, one heavily stacked against men. I'll be in monk mode for my four years here, I'll focus on my studies and keep lifting, but I'm not interested in hooking up with anyone. Sure, college is the easiest time for sex, where with a little work, I could have pussy on tap, but all this vitriolic feminist bullshit combined with the kangaroo courts on college campuses for sexual assault, where the man can be charged with zero evidence, makes the risks far greater than any potential reward. I really hope Trump gets elected so he can get rid of some of this bullshit.
