One thing that scares me is that a GF, wife, partner, BAE... whatever you call it. Loses her respect and if not mentally strong enough her affection towards her partner.

My ex broke up with me during the time I used my summer prep course for comp-sci as a form of break to play Bioshock. It seems like people lose respect for people who aren't employed regardless of their state. Women tend to lose it towards their partner which puts a dent into the stability of a relationship.

And it came to me as one of the bigger menosphere call that can be even a mantra of "Women love men who are successful." Or in this case are part of the workforce.

How can I during times of unemployment that's often due to a promising new business needing more time to work on, needing to learn a new trade, found a new job that I'm prepping for, or outright being dismissed from the company for no fault of my own. How do I keep or maintain a relationship in such cases?

EDIT: The reason I played Bioshock was due that after I finished lectures, it didn't take me more than an hour to do the assignments. Ended up playing 2-4 hours
