For ladies who don't like/can't wear rings, what do you prefer instead?

Paying off debt was my choice over an expensive ring.

In my personal case, I was also constantly losing the inexpensive ring I had (I lose a lot of things). Before I took it off for good, there were several occasions when I had to pull a bag of garbage out of the dumpster to find it. But I always knew it was easy to replace if necessary, so a cheaper ring was a peace of mind choice.

If I ever marry again, though, I will be clear with him that I will consider the engagement ring he chooses to represent how he values me and decide whether to accept or refuse the proposal with that in mind.

I am definitely a ring-lover and would want an engagement ring, but I suggest looking at anything that is in the spirit of the origin of the tradition: a monetary gift that will help you specifically, whether or not you remain together. Engagement rings were essentially an insurance for women as their "value" would plummet if they were to divorce or have an engagement break off and marriage is a far greater risk for women (due to the high rate of domestic abuse against women and also simply all the vulnerability that comes with childbirth), so make sure you ask for something that will be categorically a benefit to you. Jewellery is good because it has innate value in the materials and will retain value (particularly if you buy second hand or vintage), so the idea was that if the man screwed you over before he married you, or even after the wedding, you could pawn the ring and have something to recoup some loss in the endeavour. So if it's property or investments, make sure you have sole access to that and it's only in your name. Don't go for a car or a honeymoon or travel as those will depreciate in value, and frankly you should get a honeymoon alongside a ring or its equivalent. Someone else suggested paying off debt - that's a great idea. I think it would go against the principle to put the money towards the downpayment for a house or something you will jointly own as that will be split evenly if you break up.

I don't wear rings often because I'd be constantly taking them off to work with my hands.

He can buy us a vacation home in the Alps instead :)

I don't like rings because I lose them. When I was engaged I never take it off because each time I did I lose it. I lost it twice and my fiancé replaced it. Do I want a ring yes. But I know me Imma lose it. So insurance is going to be our best friend.

I dont like rings really. I would consider accepting property, a nice car, some of my debt being paid off, or a check I can just stash away. I do like necklaces and bracelets a lot so I would think about having those in leui of a ring. They would obviously have to be nice quality, good stones, to my taste, quality metals.
