A high status guy (startup founder/CEO) that I met on Sunday asked me tonight at 11pm (Thursday) if I wanted to “do something” on Saturday via text. I was actually really surprised to hear from him, because we hadn’t texted since Monday. The fact that he reached out relatively late in the week to make weekend plans made me feel like an afterthought. But I really enjoyed getting to know him on Sunday…so I decided to text back…

I asked what he had in mind…and then he put it back on me and asked me what I want to do (he said we can do “anything I want”). I gave him an idea (comedy show - because we had great intellectual chemistry when we met) and now he’s asking me to find a show for Saturday night.

I’m bewildered here. He asked me out, I gave him an idea - shouldn’t he be the one who puts in the effort to find a show?

I’m tempted to decline the date if he’s unwilling to put in even the most minor amount of effort here…but I don’t know if this is just par for the course with high status guys. Maybe he’s high status but not high value…🙄

I’m trying to learn the difference between submitting to my Captain vs. doing all the effort early in the relationship (it makes me worried that he’s putting in little effort, as he might just want sex)

UPDATE: I texted him this morning asking what time works best for him on Saturday (and he immediately responded with his preference). I am totally willing to plan this date to get to know him/his intentions better.

Thank you to everyone who responded - I feel like I stepped into a community of sisters/aunts here who are giving such great perspectives. You all helped me lessen my anxiety around this situation/see things in a more positive light! I’m grateful for this community 🙏🏼🙌🏼
