It is rare for people, myself included, to have the emotional maturity to be able to be honest to themselves and those close to them about every aspect of their sexuality.

I’m not sure I entirely follow. Are you saying that men don’t want to do anything freaky with women and are entirely vanilla? Or that because there’s certain things men aren’t down for, then that means they aren’t giving their sexual best? I don’t think just because men generally don’t want to do certain things sexually means they’re being lazy with their partners. And same goes for women. I don’t think if either man or woman said they weren’t down for getting shit on that it’s because they’re not giving their sexual best. You shouldn’t need to be open to everything out there in order to give your “sexual best.”

Edit: I just looked at the post you were referencing. They were saying how their belief is that women do more freaky stuff with one night stands and then tone things down in relationships, and that’s where they saw the problem. So unless your claim is that men are generally much more open to pegging and MMF threesomes with hookups and then are closed off to the idea in relationships, I’m not sure how this really relates or counters that posts claim.

Let's face it: no-one can give anyone their best all the time.

The best sex only happens once. And even if we include the 10% best experiences, we have to bear in mind that that is all dependent on momentary emotion. When feelings and opportunity align in just the right way, we get great sex. Relationships being what they are, it is unlikely that most occasions will meet those requirements.

And that is just fine. If relationship sex does not satisfy you, don't have a relationship in which your partner is your only means of sexual satisfaction.

I can't tell whether this is a serious take or just show off for wild sexuality. I think this is a good moment to entertain the idea that porn isn't real. I don't believe most men, or even a good portion of men, truly want to go in all holes and make her gag like a whore and do it with 5 guys with the Satan's gangbanger. As I said in the other thread, I think group sex is in its own category. Some people don't like the idea of bringing it into a relationship because of the risk of it ending.

Personally I'd be up for anything. MMF, MFF, MFMF and swinging. I'd be up for all in a relationship (with the caveat that we only do it with other bisexuals)

My wife would not however mostly because she's worried about how it would impact our dynamic. Which is fair. I think she worries too much. She thinks I don't worry enough.

There is only one problem with your argument. You are talking about "men's sexual best" but when it comes to the explanation, you are talking about your own (by that i mean women) fantasies. The two seldom has anything to do with each other. If you want to strap on a D and bang the dude in the bum, it is not his sexual best to allow it if otherwise i he's turned off by the act. It is you, living out your fantasies on the dude. Not allowing the act therefore doesn't mean that he's not giving you his best, it simply means that his best is not what you fantasize about.

The argument on men's side is entirely different however. By us saying "women don't give their sexual best" we mean that - for instance - she is more then happy, even get aroused by choking on a D or by taking it up in the bum and she did and enjoyed those acts with previous partners but she does not do that (or allows it only conditionally) with her current LTR, despite the fact that he'd like it, for whatever reason (mostly due to manipulation)..
