You can see it in action over at /r/science. Usually, if a study is in favour of men, people will scrutinise every little detail and that's if the janitors haven't deleted the post already.

When it's an article negative of men, most people accept the headline as truth without question because it falls in with what they want to or already believe. Sometimes there are one or two comments by people who've read the article and notice that the study is flawed, as is often the case with social science studies.

Well, there are normal questions about selction and such. As a scientist, I know thing or two about how easy is to skew selection, voluntary or involuntary.

But, personally, I am more skeptical, when I see articles about "Women are better in X" without "Men are better in Y". Because it sets off an alarm bells of my "cherry-picked-fucked-up-feminist-research"-detector. And most of the time that device is right.

The idea privilege based on gender or race is a myth entirely. Men are not a monolithic group. Western civilization is divided by class. The experience differs greatly among different socioeconomic classes and cultures. Being beautiful or smart or talented will greatly affect your experience as well.

The only question I would ask regarding this is, if men had it so easy and great, why is it that once women got similar opportunities, once they started making money (at times more than men), once they got all the things men did, why is it that women are at the least satisfaction level in the history (and still declining), why is that when women are getting everything that they wanted, pay like a man, job like a man, working hours like a man, yet they are the least satisfied, and all this while there is also an increase in the use of antidepressants medications for women.

They are getting what they always wanted, why aren't they happy with the outcome?

Women have consistently been shown to have an own-group bias. Coupled with men who have been raised to think all masculine traits are defects and who subconsciously want to always appear open to women (scouring for pussy) you'll never see an objective assessment of anything that favours the male of the species.

This is really not anything new. We've seen it for years, especially on reddit. Anything that reflects women in a bad light is automatically dismissed as misogynistic, downplayed or buried. Everything that puts men in a bad light, even when clearly a result of manipulated or tainted data, it gets to the front page and then used as hard data for decades.

Hell, people still argue that 50% of gamers are women, that women make 75 cents on the dollar for the same work or that over 80 percent of women have been sexually abused. It's absolute non-sense.

In the Western world at least, it’s simply unfathomable how anyone could think the world is easier for men. Men enact 3x more suicides than women, there are 3x more homeless men than women, 9x more prisoners are male than female, men work almost all dangerous jobs, child custody laws favour women, men receive longer sentences on average than women for the same crime, men work longer hours than women and are expected to, men have fewer friends than women, men are only valued once they are employed in a job whereas women can be valued even when jobless... the list goes on.

The process of “proving” something in social sciences often consists of getting other social scientists to agree with you about inherently subjective topics. Data and polls exist but the topics are so subjective that you can often interpret data to mean lots and lots of different things. It’s also not a hard science, so standards are different, which is what gives us things like wage gap outrage.

There is a fine line between professional review and peer scrutiny and quackery. At least from what I’ve seen in masters level education seminars, the majority of usable studies are really just papers written by people who already agree with each other and cite each other back and forth. The actual study in question is always like 5 layers deep in references. You don’t get to get away with that in hard sciences. Your reference better be the study that actually did the experiment.

I don't blame them for being skeptical. Nowadays it seems you can pay for research to come up with the results you are paying for. Expecially when things talk about political things I start to question whether it's reliable or not, or if it's just pudding an agenda or trying to move the population in a forced direction around election time.

However what this basically means is that the regular suspension on whether a research study is reliable is now first looked though whether you already agree with the findings or not. It undermines much ability to correct misinformation on men and women through studies that rarely do people know how they were taken to gauge if they were reliable or not. Maybe someone out there perr reviews them (often times they are not), but it's garenteed that the news article you read about one study or another does not peer review it. It just gets the conclusions passed to us who read the article.

Either way, I'm glad there are studies that point to men's hardships. Break through the culture mindset that men are evil, one piece at a time.

Let's face it. Men are better than women at almost everything. Call me sexist, I don't give a shit. You take 100 random women and put them against 100 random men in a series of competitions, the men will win 9/10 times.

I'm only talking about averages across the entire population. Obviously there are individual women who are better than individual men at all kinds of things.

I took a good look at r/science . Since I am a chemist I looked for chemistry posts but many of them had upvotes of less than 100 and very little interaction. On the other hand, a post with the following title had over 45000 upvotes: "A qualitative study of an incel discussion board says that incels justify their misogyny by seeing themselves as victims of women."
