That's good to hear. As a left leaning person myself who agrees with much of what is said in this sub, I can vouch that not all liberal folks are psychotic misandrist hypocrites. Most decent liberals see both sides and just lean left on topics.

Anyway, kudos to her. Good educators know the stats when it comes to the bias in the classrooms and want to see change as it reflects poorly on the profession and society as a whole.

Where to begin.

Misandry isn't a partisan thing.

You will see a more visible side of it on the left for the same reason you will see other flavors of haters more visibly on the right.

It's the old "With us or against us" illusion.

Right wing misandry seems more subtle, but it's there.

Consider the draft and who is likely to keep it as it is. Consider domestic violence services and who is likely to keep it as it is. Consider traditional sexual norms of all stripes and who are likely to keep them as they are.

At this time both left and right. The right because it's "traditional", and the left because the mantra du jour is "women are oppressed".

What a wonderful way to make sure nothing changes, neh?

That said, I am happy when I see anyone partisan begin to realize that things need to change for both men and women, and that it means that both must make sacrifices (as opposed to only one or the other). So thank you for sharing your story. It feels like a bright spot in my day.

liberalism ≠ feminism.

I'm a liberal, and liberal values are what drive respect for individual liberties in the first place. Democracy itself is a liberal value.

Feminism is a perversion of liberal values, using the rallying cry for 'equality' while in actuality promoting the opposite, supremecy based on an intrinsic character trait.

That is not liberalism. Conservatives only think they hate feminists... Nobody likes them less than liberals who actually read philosophers like John Locke, Adam Smith, and Mary Wollencraft do. Those of us who know what equality really entails - where it comes from, and what it takes to get it and keep it - tend to view feminists as waste on the bottom of the liberal shoe.

Your teach may be a better ally for you and men than you realize. Cheers.

It's disturbing that young men are downplaying the importance of something in order to appease authority and protect themselves as normalised behaviour, particularly in an institution that has traditionally encouraged challenging of ideas.

Also worrying that the female student is being talked with rather than an opportunity taken for the class to be educated about the wrongs of hate.

I'm very happy for you to have had an experience like this with that teacher! Some of us women still respect men. I have a two year old son, and I refuse to raise him with a "all men are toxic" mindset, my boy isn't an "automatic potential rapist" or what have you. Men need to be raised up in our culture and not put down! I try to be a good wife and mother, and as good an example of a traditional feminine role as I can. I really don't see why so many women are so insecure in their own bodies and with their own gender that they have to kick men down in order to "rise out of an oppressive patriarchy," which is click-bait bullshit to me. I'm a tom-boy, I grew up surfing and playing outside, but I am very happy with being a woman and appreciate my role in my family life and my professional life, and am happy to stand by a strong man and raise my son up to himself be a good man who can be proud of who he is. I really am happy for you, I'm standing up here for you too, just like I am for my son! 🐱🤗

Its everywhere. I had a feminist biology lecturer trash her husband and trash the class. She wouldcrant about the white male and had us doing a privilege test in a double biology class. Im convinced feminists hate engineering and compsci because they cant turn it into a womens studies class if its male dominated. Women dominate everything else which is a shame.

I think some women are concerned about all of this. Imagine what boys are hearing in schools? Makes me shiver. Most modern feminism is not anything to do with equality. Its about rich white women who have to make money or thry do activism and its all politics anyway.

Sounds like your prof was taken back by the actions of that hatful girl. By the fact it took her a day to get to you guys, sounds like she will take care of it as well in a correct way.

Keep in mind this is the norm, and the way that girl was spewing hate is the problem.

Keep in mind this girl who spewed her hate is brainwashed, for lack of a better term, and needs help. By help I mean the mental kind and this is not a stigma; this is reality, permitting hate like this is mental illness.

Yeah your context at the start made this post hard to follow. I was confused thinking it was the teacher that made the sexist comment. For the record, most teachers have a view that a rising tide benefits all boats. Less confusing to consider that left, or progressive, as "Liberal" has capitalistic' implications that get confused, but really your interpretation to the teachers political views are irreverent to the story. The only thing that needed to be noted is this was a competent teacher that was concerned about you as a student.

This next part, I am not really saying to insult you, but am saying to leave a lasting impression, next time reach down and make sure you still have a fucking pair of nuts..... seriously wtf is this feel good story, why the fuck did you sit there silently and accept that. Grow the fuck up. I am not saying start frothing at the mouth and yelling and throwing things. Just raise your hand, and ask "Speaking of hate about a group is still hate speech right teach, and that is still banned in the school?"

Now.... you have two choices, you can either promise yourself next time you wont sit there silently during this hate speech, or you can walk in Monday and tell your teacher before class it has bothered you all weekend that you had to listen to that hate speech and that is against the school code(five minutes of reading research I bet you will find very specific rules in the school charter against that kind of hate speech, mentioning this code will force action so worth the effort) Then make it clear all you want is a warning given that hate speech is not tolerated at your school for anyone.
