I have talked about this before here but I want to reiterate that I think that the rest of the Left is waking up to the fact that there are serious issues going on with men and boys.

I feel no need to debate this with anyone as it seems obvious. But let’s talk about what that means for us as a movement and what our goals should be moving forward.

It is no secret that there have been some sympathetic voices coming from the Left as it pertains to men’s issues. In general, this is a good thing. However, I think that we need to be extra diligent to ensure that the issues we are bringing up aren’t explained away or reframed by people who want to promote agendas which aren’t helpful.

Obviously, this isn’t a new trend. It’s no secret that YKW such as Bell Hooks (RIP) have highlighted the ways in which men are frequently the victims of empathy shortages and objectified as labor objects within society only to turnaround and use the point to promote radical-YKW rhetoric of patriarchy.

This practice seems to be getting more frequent.

Recently, YouTuber Anna Akana has framed the disregard/fear of men as an unfortunate product of White colonialism. Yes you heard that right! The reason guys get treated like poo has nothing to do with reflexive androphobia or the empathy gap, but because of White men. I have linked to Aba and Preaches video on it here

Well recently CNN has decided to have Richard Reeves on to talk about his book and the conversation went somewhat well (see here). That being said, as this issue goes mainstream there will be attempts by YKW and the corporate world to leverage this discussion to grift cash and prizes of the population.

What do you guys think are some cons that we can expect to see coming out of this and how can we combat the misinformation campaigns that may occur?
