Had a partner who worked part time, lived in my apartment rent free only paying groceries she bought. Needless to say that didnt last. A relationship doesnt need to have people contributing equal end product, but it needs to be an equal effort put in.

She did give me one great thing though. As she never cleaned we got a cleaning service to avoid arguing, which I have kept to this day. They clean better and faster than I can.

[–]ThrowAway293078450341 points 3 years ago [recovered] (24 children) | Copy Link

Yep! This is what western 'women' have done. A maid is better than being in a romance. Fuck this CUNTry!!

[–]_BlueShark87 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

A normal romance where it’s 100/100 effort is better than a maid. Makes me sad to see the line blurred between respecting ourselves and hating women.

[+]Rubatose -73 points-72 points-71 points 3 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Goddamn. So your opinion isn't actually "men shouldn't have to do all the work," it's actually just a really really exaggerated version of "why can't things go back to the way they were when women did all the work." I think I'm in the wrong subreddit.

Like, you literally just implied it's better to have a maid/slave who does whatever you want and does all the housework instead of a normal loving relationship where you both put work in. Hooooly shit. I guess some guys won't be satisfied unless their girlfriend literally acts like their mother.

[–]nokappa1 67 points68 points69 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think his point was that

A maid is better

It's a transactional relationship and he gets what he pays for, as compared to

instead of a normal loving relationship where you both put work in.

Where she doesn't put her share of work in.

I don't see any statements on whether the contributions had to be housework or financially, he just didn't want a freeloader.

[–]Ketdeamos 22 points23 points24 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

While he phrased it horribly, the point he was making was it’s a better give take relationship to have a maid than what modern day romance is.

If he has a girlfriend/wife/whatever, he (the man) has to give them money, give them love, do all the work, and earn the woman’s love. Whereas the woman really doesn’t need to do Jack shit. The other comment even said so. The woman he was dating had a part time job and lived rent free with him. She got all of it and gave nothing back. No cleaning, no rent, no cooking, no nothing.

Compare that to a maid and while he pays for the service. At least they do the job of cleaning his house. In a solely give, take relationship the maid gives more than the girlfriend does.

Of course this isn’t every relationship, but it’s happening a lot and to many people.

[–]XennoJiiva 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When exactly did women do all the work? In what world? Cause as far as i remember men have protected women with their lives. Died at work, died in wars, dies in mines so women Can complain about cooking and having to bend down a bit too low to put the dvd in the DVD player for the kids. You can miss me with this nonsense.

[–]Frequent-throwAway 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All my married buddies have wives that barely work. A lot of these women cheated too. The guy I know had to quit a great job because his wife couldn't handle the tiny bit of child raising work (they also have full time daycare!).

They have no options to escape the abuse. Their option to divorce means extensive fighting, legal expense, child support and possibly Alimony.

They have no freedom. Zero. No choices. Boat anchor.

Do not marry. Do not have a kid. Do not cohabitate (common law). Even if common law isn't accepted legally in your jurisdiction, it can be changed literally overnight so that you're now lawfully married by common law.

I think I will. Experiencing nothing but hostility here. Thanks for the sound advice. It looks like there are some posts here that have actual good points, but a lot of them are just basically "why can't all women just act like my mom and not complain?" Idk what I expected coming here. Not this.

Like, you literally just implied it's better to have a maid/slave who does whatever you want and does all the housework instead of a normal loving relationship where you both put work in.

Where did Slave come from? From your crazy interpretation you are associating someone paying for a service as making them a slave? Being a bit over dramatic you think?

Also, how is expecting someone to do 2-4 hours of work a week (what he paid a maid) unreasonable when he is paying 100% of the rent. Hell I'll take this dude up on his offer, rent most places is $2K/mo, so for my share of $1K/mo or $250/wk, that is over $50/hr for doing some cleaning.

a normal loving relationship where you both put work in

How was she putting work in? She was only working part time, only paying for groceries and not doing any housework. Seems he was the slave doing all the work and paying all the bills.

Oh and if you want to bring up emotional/physical support, than she was a Ho.

[+]Rubatose -20 points-19 points-18 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Who the fuck is "she?" Are we talking about a specific woman here or just the one in your imagination? I didn't respond to the original comment or say anything that even related to it.

This whole concept of "it's better to have a maid than a wife" is just so thick with the implication that a relationship is nothing but an exchange. Woman gives housework, sex, affection, etc. Man gives stability, money, security etc. So obviously when a woman doesn't do her "fair share" or what the man considers to be her "fair share" suddenly it's better to abandon all that so you can just pay someone to clean for you. Suddenly everything else that a woman can provide is not worth it cause she won't clean for you. I mean what the actual fuck. Communicate and negotiate like a fucking adult.

[–]gucci-poptart 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

How did you forget that the original comment you started this argument about was an anecdote to a specific user's (partner's) behavior pertaining to the original post?

Plus in both accounts the partner was not contributing their equal share, which would make a maid a better option...

An employee actually handling the cleaning and getting paid would make more sense than being in a relationship with someone who does nothing. How does the employee cleaning (their job) or the partner not doing their agreed tasks (not cleaning) equate to slavery?

*Also, weren't you leaving an hour ago because "all you've gotten is hostility"?

[+]skulldice666 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Your mistake was assuming you were dealing with adults. They dgaf as long as they get whatever they want. If they are broke they will want it for free. If they have money they might pay for it since it's easier to make money and stay the same basic asshole than reflect and grow into a decent person. Many of them seem to unironically prefer what you described in your second paragraph.

I'm glad that there are other people here that has some sense though and I have seen a few others push back as well. A lot of them are here for the circle jerk though so don't take it personally.

You don't have to feel like u have to leave the sub unless u want to. Stay real and don't let some baby brains make u feel unwelcome.

[–]ThrowAway29307845034[S] 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Oh yea, we want a sexless relationship where we get nagged all the time. Who the fuck said anything about women doing all the work? When the fuck has that ever been true? Never. It is comical how dishonest, hateful and brainless you have to be to actually think that evil horseshit. Your raft of false accusations are very stereotypical of western misandrists like you. I'm sorry you can't any dick, crazy cat lady, go pet some pets and drink box wine until you feel better about your obesity.

[–]corporate_robot_dude 141 points142 points143 points 3 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link

Unfortunately with how skewed the dating market is, there is always enough males willing to give in to this.

I have a single mom friend who has been acting all-mighty recently because she scored a doctor who flies in every few weeks to see her and takes her out to fancy dinners/trips. I don't think in any of her relationships had she ever really chipped in for anything. It's just become an expectation. No way she can fund all these trips on her own and support a child on her $40k/year job.

[–]Mother-Key582 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This doesn’t have to do with trips or new beaus exactly but that Morning Train song by Sheena Easton reminds me of what you said. She just sits around the house all day doing whatever, while the husband works his butt off all day then as soon as he comes home he spoils her rotten and that’s all she seems to care about based on the lyrics. Basically saying “I’m only happy when he gives me shit and has sex with me.” So … what does she give him in return?

I just really wish that song wasn’t such a banger because I hate the message it seems to give off.

[–]randonumero 17 points18 points19 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly child support can give her and extra 10-20k tax free. Add to that the child tax credit she probably gets every year as well as a low tax bracket and 40k is pretty sweet. Dollars to doughnuts the doctor's married though

[–]ThrowAway293078450341 points 3 years ago [recovered] (18 children) | Copy Link

UGH!! This pains me to see. A king like that settling for a loose slut with a kid that's not even his. We need to get him a trip to a non-Western country to see how real women treat men.

[–]corporate_robot_dude 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

To expand on my observations, the guy is an asian male (30) living in a small town. So dating is WAY harder even if he is a doctor. He is also younger, fresh out of med school so likely hasn't had that much life experience towards these things except that he's probably happy that a woman finally is giving him attention. I've personally also spent time working in the middle of nowhere small town as an asian early in my career so I can sympathsize on the feeling of loneliness.

She's not bad looking, but at 35 with a kid that would be an instant disqualifier to me. Not to mention that I've lost track on how many partners she's been with as she spent her 20's dating bad boys/drug dealers. But when a dude falls in love, it's easy to throw logic out the door despite the red flags. So we will just have to see how this relationship goes

In asian culture, it's a huge taboo to bring home a single mom to introduce to your parents. If I were to have worked hard to get to where I'm at, then tell me parents I'm going to wife up some chick with a kid in tow (whose college I'd be on the hook for in a few years), I'd be disowned! "But mom, she loves me!"

[–]Perfectimperfectguy 25 points26 points27 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, is he really a king if he does stuff like this, when he could do better?

[+]qazwgdbcod -12 points-11 points-10 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Dude if we want women to respect and treat us like equals we can’t call them loose sluts like dickheads

[–]Frequent-throwAway 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

They trade their vagina for shit dude. They are literally prostitutes, all of them. Prostitutes are fun bro lol.

[–]Rubatose -40 points-39 points-38 points 3 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Oooh yeah, a real non-Western country like Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia, where women are basically slaves? Yeaaah, that's where the real men are, the kind who will stone a woman for being raped. Holy shit this subreddit is so fucking concerning.

[–]RedToiletPoopPain 33 points34 points35 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You just came here to argue with men didn't you?

[–]Rubatose -22 points-21 points-20 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I came here thinking it was gonna actually be "men's rights" and not "a gathering of misogynists" covered in glitter. I like how we're not acknowledging the guy who thinks women should live like they do in countries where they have few rights. Like I said, I'm in the wrong subreddit lol.

[–]RedToiletPoopPain 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Defo the wrong subreddit, remember men are angry, abusive, misogynistic, and only want women to be their bang maids. /s

[+]Rubatose -10 points-9 points-8 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Again. Still not talking about the guy who thinks women should be slaves. We're talking about how I'm being unreasonable for pointing that out. Cool. I'm just gonna keep mentioning that until you either acknowledge it or stop responding.

[–]RedToiletPoopPain 24 points25 points26 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Women shouldn't be slaves no, they should be equal. It's that women already have the advantage over men, yet are still crying out for more. And a select few men are simping to these women because they are just tryna get laid, or seeking approval in general from feminists.

[+]Rubatose 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

..women don't have the advantage over men. Manipulative women have power over weak men. Manipulative men have power over weak women. The problem is when men complain about basic rights and privileges that women have only recently gained and cry like it's unfair to them.

Also I think it's interesting that you decided to follow me. What's that about? You gonna try to follow me around and undermine everything I say or do you just like reading things that get your panties in a twist?

[–]Vioret 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Then why are 3/4 of homeless people men?

Why are the majority of crime victims men?

Why are the majority of suicides men?

Why do women get to vote without doing anything but men have to sign up for the draft?

Why do we women get half the sentences for the exact same crime?

Why do women live years longer?

Why are 90% of shelters women only?

Why are 2/3 of college admissions women?

Why are all the scholarships for women despite the fact they are already 2/3 of college admissions?

Why does affirmative action regularly give jobs to some women over men in cases where the men are more qualified?

[–]corporate_robot_dude 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think discussing men's rights is equally as important as those of females. In none of these discussions do I see people saying women should be slaves or any of that extremist stuff.

It's important that people be held accountable for their actions, regardless of male or female. The problem is that modern society/social media is causing people to behave poorly and have bad values.

[–]ArticulateApricot 123 points124 points125 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

There are plenty of men who would be willing to do a whole lot more (all the way upto murder) just for that crumb of coochie. The current state of the dating market allows women to trade sex for pretty much anything.

[–]penishead694207 50 points51 points52 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]Mother-Key582 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Not sure why that can never be an option for certain guys. Nope, has to be actual coitus with some gold digger, or suffering with blue balls. Is it really that bad to just crank it out in the shower?

“Unpaid work” is the latest and greatest area of “inequality”

A marriage or relationship is a partnership. If one is spending more time out of the home earning money, then the other can help out by maintaining the home. Simple

[–]McFeely_Smackup 144 points145 points146 points 3 years ago* (14 children) | Copy Link

basically, there's no division of household labors that will ever satisfy a woman raised in the Feminist victim fetish culture.

Stay at home homemaker? she'll complain about doing all the housework. working partner, and split household chores equally...she'll complain that she has to do ALL of 'her' chores. Pay for a housekeeper, she'll complain that she still has to cook.

There's literally no amount of contribution to household income and housework that a man can do that will satisfy a woman like this.

I always fall back on the position that I lived alone for over 10 years, working a full time job, paying all the bills, and doing 100% of the housework. Where's my fucking medal?

edit: damn, Reddit came through with the Medals.

[–]nokappa1 43 points44 points45 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Stay at home homemaker? she'll complain about doing all the housework. working partner, and split household chores equally...she'll complain that she has to do ALL of 'her' chores. Pay for a housekeeper, she'll complain that she still has to cook.

Apparently emotional labour is a thing, according to these modern women.

It's called leadership. In a traditional relationship, men are leaders when it comes to the overall relationship matters AND matters outside the house, and women are the leaders when it comes to household matters (i.e. they're in charge).

Being in charge comes with the responsibilities of making sure whatever they're in charge of play out as intended. It's just called being a leader. Men do this too for whatever they're in charge of, and yet women seem to be making a big fuss about this whole emotional labour issue... it's like they've either never taken charge of anything enough to understand this or they don't actually want to be in charge of anything.

[–]donut_know 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's emotional labor when it comes to determining what to make for dinner & scheduling Dr appointments for the kids. It ain't shit when we make sure our largest investment (house) & second largest investment (vehicle) are properly cared for. And if a man determines what's for dinner or takes care of the kids drs appts, well, better not mention it, they'll just sigh & say "wow we do that too" 🙄

I'm all for finding a fair system that works for you & your partner. I'm not a fan of belittling efforts. Spouses should be supportive & appreciative & understand their partner's strengths & weaknesses.

[–]nokappa1 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The emotional labour as the feminists define it goes by another name with men: follow-up.

I'm all for finding a fair system that works for you & your partner. I'm not a fan of belittling efforts. Spouses should be supportive & appreciative & understand their partner's strengths & weaknesses.

Agreed. In today's world it's hard to find someone who understands this, which is sad.

Exactly, make the genders neutral and it still applies, equality for all. Wouldn't expect a man/woman to stay with a man/woman who constantly burns their head out then threatens to call the police when it doesn't go their way.

My ex-wife of 7 years got $500K in the divorce (not including alimony) for being a drug addict that I kicked to the curb. For that amount of money I could have hired a full time housekeeper, nanny, escort, and professional cook and STILL come out ahead.

Any man who gets married in the 21st century is a complete idiot.

I am from an EU country and from what I read here, some things in the USA are way worse than in my country.

Nowadays both the wife and the husband work outside the home but there is a tendency for women to do the majority of housework - especially cooking. (Many couples get a maid once a week for a good cleaning of the house.)

There is a huge difference between my parents' generation and mine. My mother always did all the housework as did most women of her time. They did not work outside the home and they took great pride in their housekeeping and cooking. They will even refuse any help offered by men. Men, on the other hand were the providers and this system has worked for thousands of years.

The 'study' linked in the title is based on a questionnaire and worse still it was an opt-in questionnaire. I studied the hard sciences and it is difficult to play with data in physics or chemistry but when it comes to the so called social sciences you can get whatever results you desire by the way you word your questions, by the way the sample is selected, by the way the data is massaged and by statistical techniques.

[–]randonumero 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly there's still some "traditional" relationships in the US but with the cost of things and lack of safety net you almost have to have two people working. Even most young people choose relationships because they can't afford to live alone. FWIW most of the people I've known with a traditional wife live a very humble life or are completely miserable. The miserable ones have usually been that way because the wife wanted a life they couldn't afford on one income and refused to work.

[–]Savings_Insurance_29 59 points60 points61 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm in the same boat. I do majority in my current relationship and luckily she just moved out to think things over. She's not moving in that's dead certain. I was sitting alone in my three bedroom apartment. That has enough room for my tools and even a motorcycle if I so desire. I come home to a quiet and clean place. Cook a nice steak, mix a light drink and have myself a fantastic evening watching a movie or moto GP recaps. And if I ever feel lonely I can always go out and meet some cooch in a bar. If anything women made it all too avaliable. What a bliss.

[–]RedToiletPoopPain 21 points22 points23 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's it, more of us need to be like this, then women will actually have something to complain about, and it will all be the result of feminism. Go your own way, nobody 'needs' a woman, it's a choice.

It’s interesting the opposite thinking of men and women. Women need equity in household work or they’re not happy, but men can earn 100% of household income and be proud of it. Doesn’t quite add up.

[–]FiveMagicBeans 18 points19 points20 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really simple solution.

Both of you work full time and then you hire a maid service to come in twice a week while you're at work and then you split the cost. Don't want to stay at home and watch toddlers? Daycare.

The problem is that most stay at home parents want it both ways. They want to spend their day half-assing it around the house and playing with the kids and then have their spouse come home and put in an extra couple hours of work to get everything in order while they put their feet up and sigh about how they had such a difficult day sitting there on the couch with their laptop and a cup of coffee while they kids watched Paw Patrol reruns.

That half hour whipping together a sandwich for the kids? Pure torture!

That 20 minutes it took to throw in a load of laundry and move it to the drier? Sheer agony!

People need to stop being dishonest about the amount of time they actually spend working during the day at home. I've been a stay at home spouse before and was bored out of my fucking mind because it took less than two hours a day to do everything except for the meals, which we often shared the preparation of. Eventually when I found fulltime work again, we just hired in a maid who spent less than four hours a week doing an even better job than I did and handling messes nobody wants to do like kitty litter duty.

The study collected data from over 700 women partnered with men who also had children. The new findings indicate that the decline in sexual desire may be related to two factors: 1) the perception that the labor division is unfair and 2) perceiving their partner as dependent on them.

The audacity to live in someone's house, eat their food, enjoy their heating, internet, water, gas, electric, etc .... and you think THEY are dependant on YOU o.O

Looking at your comments - it sounds like you're angry the gravy train is stopping.

You can either do homely duties, go work yourself and pay for someone to do those duties, or be the support person and let the other person do the homely duties.

I had a friend who worked 12-14 hours per day, six days per week. His girlfriend still expected him to do laundry and cook (he actually is a good cook though). She had no health issues. That is what we call a "leech".

This is one of those things that doesn't have an enforceable solution. Fuck boys exist and they will do anything to get pussy. It used to be that overweight women or women with kids were considered undesirable. A woman with 2 baby daddys was a big no no, wouldn't touch it with a 10ft pole back in the day. Now there's a fuck boy ready to take over and give her baby numbers 3. These women show zero appreciation for a guy that a single with no kids. No concept of baggage or sacrifice exist. There are no fat chicks anymore, just "thick" with the same set of demands and thin women. It use to be that if you were a fat chick you were nice, cause you had to be, otherwise no one would want to be around you. There is no solution to fix this. Im realizing the only thing you can do is date a foreign women while they are still out there. Those prospects are diminishing as these countries become more developed and western.

The Internet is a factor for sure. Girls dont even have to leave their couch anymore, let alone their house and still have a bunch or fuck boys messaging them. Even fat and ugly chicks have inflated egos. Now days every girl is an internet model. I see glorified fat chicks with 125,000 followers on instagram. You have to ask your self, if half of those followers are sliding in her DM's to get with her, what are the chances that there's a better looking guy then you out of the 62,500 ? How do you think its gonna go down if you, an average joe, approach her in person to ask her out? You're thinking, hey this girl is chubby but she has a pretty face, maybe shes a nice person, let me give her a chance, completely unaware she has 125k followers in her back pocket.

Tell me, why do you think it's okay that an overweight woman should have to lower herself before someone just to be liked? Why does a woman need to have low self esteem to seem polite to you? In that case, overweight men should also have to be overly polite, cause nobody wants to be around a fat man either, right? Or is that something that only applies to women? Hmmm.

[–]Whatever182837366 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Overweight women can be nicer and have lower standards then her thinner, healthier counterpart (if she has good enough inhereted physique: face, frame etc). On the other hand if overweight short/average men doesn't need yi lower his standards because it won't change much. Nobody want them anyway so why bother. The truth is such men must havr some redeeming qualities otherwise no women would touch them (unless drunk) meanwhile their female counterpart still can easly get laid

[+]Rubatose -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, you're wrong. Overweight men and overweight women can be nice or they can be dicks and it doesn't matter because people's preferences aren't exclusively perfectly fit and muscled bodies. I've known overweight men who have girlfriends and wives and they're complete assholes. I've known overweight men who were super nice and were alone. Same thing with women. It literally doesn't matter. Thing is though, you're not taking that into account. You're going based off your preferences, which you assumed are universal, that you like skinny women and you don't like larger women, so larger women should make up for their largeness by debasing themselves and lowering themselves before you. Skinny women don't have to do that because they're pretty and you like them better. And overweight men? Oh, they don't even need to bother doing anything cause they're just poor creatures that nobody wants anyway so their behavior won't change anything. It's an interesting and roundabout way to say "there are things expected of women that aren't expected of men," but it's still what you're saying.

[–]Whatever182837366 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I have never stated that overweight ugly men can't make themselves at least slightly attractive by buliding up some muscles and lowering body fat (I am taking normal fit level of muscles and bf no some ripped steroid greek god level) but topic which all of you pursued was that fat (not slightly overweight) women have/had to (debatable) be nicer and lower their standards to get laid/get into relationship with a man while fat men don't. And your ad persona comment towards my preferences for was weak and shows how that you don't have any more valid claims against my opinion hence you decided to take the "fight" to the ground. For your information i prefer taller well build women (not fat). They do not need to be skinny, aome muscles and body fat is desirable in the right places ofc. However i do not know how my preferences affect what i have said above (I am 6'3 so i do not need to hate women because they prefer taller men)

[–]Ikaros004 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Overweight men need to be nicer too or make up for it some otherway. Men have more options, they can bring money, talent, sense of humor to the equation. Women have less options. Im fine with womens rights and the right for women to choose. I am however highly disappointed in the choice's the majority of women make. Just because you are free, doesn't mean you should make poor choices. It reminds me of that female journalist from gawker who decided to date a famous chess player for the sole purpose of documenting the date to write an article talking trash, only to have it backfire. There was a meme going around with picture of her with some text that read, "they said i could be anything, so i became a cunt". Women can do whatever they want, but dont think you can make poor choices and not be criticized. 90% percent of womens grievances with men could have been avoided by making better personal choices and also choosing better men. Womens priorities today are completely messed up and devoid of logic. You have freedom of choice but what did you do with it? Are you happier than a woman from the 50's? I don't think so. The family unit is broken but if you ask women they have no idea why or just blame it on men yet men are the same as they were 100 years ago, they didn't change. Women changed.

[+]Rubatose -3 points-2 points-1 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are here saying you're fine with a woman's right to choose. You're just not happy with the choices they're making. What are those "choices" that you're unhappy about exactly? I can see a future where men will, when they’re young, work on their education and professions, and then, when they’re older, hire house cleaners and call girls. Women exercising their power to screw men over with divorce and paternity fraud are creating a generation of men who’re taking a good look and deciding to not get involved with women except under certain circumstances that they can control. Younger women are going to look at their female elders and thank them for nothing.

[–]CurveArtistic 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I wonder how it plays out when the man provides financially though.

I make 95% of the income in my household but also work a demanding and around the clock job. She also has a solid career by most standards (makes $200k a year), but we both agree that my career takes priority.

My gf takes care of a majority of chores, but says she’s happy to do so. I am also pretty clean and cook a lot of meals for us as well. Also, I think she recognizes that I provide a lifestyle that she wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.

I wonder if sexual desire on her end would dwindle with time solely due how she provides value to our household

I'd like to see a study that instead asked how much free time each person has. If one works 50 hours a week and does 1 hour of housework and the other works 40 hours and does 11 hours of housework, it seems more fair to me than for each to do 6 hours of housework.

[–]nokappa1 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'd love to see a study that asks how much both parties contribute to the household financially.

It seems like they want "your money is ours, my money is mine" AND "equal if not more contribution towards housework".

Apparently I've been downvoted to oblivion multiple times in AITA for simply asking whether they contribute equally to the household financially.

it seems more fair to me than for each to do 6 hours of housework.

The other thing is of course, 6 hours of housework from the wife and from the husband is usually going to result in very different output (quality & quantity of work done). Same goes for most chores.

LOL. What a dumpster fire.

The new findings indicate that the decline in sexual desire may be related to two factors: 1) the perception that the labor division is unfair and 2) perceiving their partner as dependent on them.

COPE much? Anybody who has ever tasted the red pill knows that decline in sexual attraction is WHOLLY #2. Your girlfriend can be your lover or your mother, not both. They're mutually exclusive.

Prior research has found that biology is not always the cause of a woman’s struggle with sexual desire

Disingenuous much? Prior research has found that women's sexual desire issues are almost wholly psychological. Not biological.

Emily Harris and colleagues recognized that little research had been done on the origin of these causal factors.

Because they do not want the truth. It goes counter to feminist agenda that bossbabes are awesome and you can have it all.

When household chores are not shared equally, there is a significant decrease in sexual desire. However, their second hypothesis suggested that sexual desire declines due to the perceived unfairness of the division of labor; the data only weakly support this. Finally, there was a significant correlation between lack of desire, household chore responsibilities, and perceived dependence of the male partner.

CALLED IT. It isn't the labor, it's the dependence.

These findings support the heteronormativity theory, which states that inequities in household labor can lead to a blurring of mother and partner roles, and that feeling like a partner’s mother is not conducive to desire.”

Wow. They admitted it? I'm shocked. Also validated.

EDIT: And then the dishonest throwaway poster deletes themselves after insulting honest respondents because, I suspect, they have no rational, coherent, intelligent response to counter with. Typical.

Genuine Q - do you think women spend 80% of the money because they are the ones doing the grocery shopping and shopping for their partners and children?

I do 99% of the food shopping and I also buy my own clothes and my husbands clothes/shoes. I definitely spend 80% of the money but rarely on myself.

I also work full time. Do you think women in this study were not working full time even though most households are 2 income?

If both parties work full time, is it not fair that they both split household chores?

spend 80% of the money

I've seen many arrangements where the woman's in charge of spending, but it's the man's money that they're spending. They spend their own earnings on their own desires and save the rest, while the man's income supports the household expenditure.

In such a case, or when most of the household expenditure is paid for WITH the husband's income, would you say that it's fair for the woman to take care of a larger share of household chores as compared to the man?

Without further information on a case-by-case basis sometimes we tend to judge prematurely.

My wife buys my clothes, but I wish she didn't. She buys what she thinks will look good on me, like someone buying a fleece or a collar for a dog. If I wasn't working when the shops were open I'd go myself and buy my own things, I think biannually I get a chance to do this, and spend £££ restocking my clothing in things I actually want to be seen in. She only works 2 days a week speaking to people on the phone in our warm house, I work 5-6 days 12 hours a day in the street in areas that feature a lot of drug and gun crime (the money is worth it though believe me), I'd swap instantly if the choice was there, I only need to miss my step on a telephone pole and I may be paralysed for life (happened to some poor fella last month), or some person to be playing on his phone while driving and run me over whilst half way in a manhole, worst she can do is fall down the stairs on the way to make a coffee.

Thread locked. OP seems to just be attacking people who think differently.

None of these scenarios work for a relationship. But we do live in a time where relationships are not working. Time to redefine relationships just like they did sec and genders.

I feel like this should only apply if both people are working full time. On hand washes the other..
