For some reason it's like men have no social problems, their social issues are minimal inconveniences, or they deserve what they get.

How do women tend to or stereotypically use/express their anger versus how do men tend to or stereotypically use/express their anger?

[+]bluehorserunning -4 points-3 points-2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's almost like there's a social context there.

The comments read like Emperor Palpatine trying to turn Luke to the dark side:

“Good! Use your aggressive feelings, boy girl. Let the hate flow through you!”

[–]OldEgalitarianMRA 71 points72 points73 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism fuels women's baser nature by stoking their anger and hate. Justifying it as a response to the "Patriarchy". Hate only makes you old and bitter. Feminism is not serving women well. I suppose thats why women are less happy than in the past. It's hard to be happy when you're told to hate everything.

[–]PactScharp 23 points24 points25 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Read this in Palpatine's voice... lol

So accurate though.

What takes the cake is a comment that says

I defy anyone to try being female for a minute and see how far into that minute you get without feeling a boiling rage erupting at every discriminatory remark and action this world has to offer against females.

Okay, sure, I'd love to actually be acknowledged, recognized, treated as valuable, etc. just for having a vagina. I'm not sure boiling rage would describe what I'd feel; it'd be entirely alien just to get a compliment more than twice a year - even if it's "Why don't you smile, you're so much cuter when you smile!" kinds of compliments; it'd be alien just to be acknowledged as existing, flat out, whether it was offensive compliments or not.

There's the other mix of responses to the thread that go into legitimate reasons to be angry; being raped, being murdered, etc. - but they're doing it almost entirely through a lens of the whole meme of "1 in 4 homeless are women" - they're ignoring the as often, if not more often, occurrence of male victims of whatever crime(s) they're complaining about; but demanding equal/greater response to them.

Great, be angry, they might even bring change from it, but it just further shows how literally sexist Feminism is and has become; it hasn't been about equality (with several caveats) for a little over a century now. It's been about superiority, outside of a slim margin of issues, that they want to have all the privileges and benefits, without any of the responsibility, accountability, or duties.

[–]AndyCalling 26 points27 points28 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

A previously male friend of mine has come out as trans, and has gone through that journey. She has indeed had to cope with many a discriminatory comment, but the bulk of it has seemingly come from women. Certainly all the really nasty stuff that I've had to assist with damping down. Her approach, though, has very much been to take a reasonable and encouragingly educational stance, not to go with 'boiling rage' at all. Much more effective.

So, in my experience, it seems the author of that article may just be a bit anti-social and struggling to communicate well with others? Certainly sounds like they have anger issues to me. Bit of a red flag.

[–]BlackberryDull402 46 points47 points48 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They really think they're doing something against that invisible enemy of theirs (the patriarchy) by being pitiful and extremely unlikable. 💀

[–]Aimless-Nomad 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Anything women do is always good and acceptable. Or when its clearly horrible, society will bend itself into pretzels to downplay what she did. Common example wpuld be pedophilia where it seems every other week a woman is charged for having 'sex' with a minor.

Just ignore. Nothing can be done.

[–]DP12410 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Doubt it, even the women back in the days who actually had shit to protest about never really got violent.

These newer generations feminists don't even possess half the conviction women had back then, nothing will happen.

[–]mikesteane 28 points29 points30 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The Suffragettes were terrorists. They sent the first letter bombs. They attacked buildings and attempted to kill British Prime Minister LLoyd George. And they had very little to complain about; they existed at a time when men were being drafted and killed in their thousands while women (led by Suffragettes) handed out white feathers. The reality is that women have always been privileged. The only difference is that now they are wholly ungrateful.

[–]Odd_Big_55601 points 3 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

This is a disgusting fact. But if you don't mind, can you give me sources of it? I know they were terrorists, but I want to have a source to back that up.

[–]NameIs-Already-Taken 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The trick is to not be involved, that they can get as angry as they like but without it becoming our problem.

[–]EnvironmentFormer209 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, that’s not how the world works

[–]PopularEquipment5357 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Even if you never date, you will probably have to work alongside female coworkers or bosses. If you don't get comfy with them, you'll likely get fired because companies need everyone to communicate and work together.

The only other alternative is living off food stamps for the rest of your life or picking male dominated fields.

[–]NameIs-Already-Taken 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

We can still make choices to reduce exposure, especially to the toxic women.

[–]EnvironmentFormer209 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A small reduction is all you can do. Then getting angry will still cause problems whether you want to be involved or not.

[–]Odd_Big_55601 points 3 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

Feminists or modern females in general are extremely delusional. I saw a female saying Andrew Tate kind of guys are intimidated by "strong women." and they envy women having a womb (like, what the fuck).

  1. No. I know what females mean by "strong women." You mean arrogant bitch who have graduated from Harvard University and are rich. But it that woman is not attractive or kind, then why should men like those? Do men have obligation to love the so-called "strong women" to satisty these degenerate modern females?

  2. Men do not envy women having a womb. Fucking retarded. I've never even thought about it before I saw that comment from a female. I honestly do not even care about female biology, as all I want from females is sex. What else can I get from them? Anger? Hate? I didn't even know females have a womb before I was a high school student.

And fuck that shit. I don't want to make babies. Those are females who are upset that some men see them objects while they only value themselves from the sexual purpose of the females. They're literally calling themselves baby making machines.

[–]mikesteane 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I didn't even know females have a womb before I was a high school student.

Well, there's actually some debate about that these days. The leader of the opposition in the British House of Commons was unable to deny or confirm that women had wombs.

[–]Foxsayy -2 points-1 points0 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think they were trying to make a point delineating sex and gender.

[–]NeoLosman 13 points14 points15 points 3 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Everyone's having a meltdown these days. In no small part, this is thanks to activists(including most card carrying MRAs) of all stripes having spread around lots of misinformation which dictates "Anger is a response to injustice". This flies in the face of all evidence regarding where our emotions stem from, namely our thoughts and beliefs about people, places, and things

Very few folks today encourage their fellow citizens to take a couple of deep breaths, then write out their the thoughts their experiencing when angered. Note: If you're saying to yourself sentences like "Men SHOULDN'T look me up and down when I walk through the office, even though I'm a double D with a heart shaped ass", or "Society MUST start sympathizing with men just as readily as we do with women, especially young attractive women", then you're dealing in fantasy, rather than empiricism

This sort of thinking has had a disastrous effect on our approach to men's issues. It's led us to devote all of our energies to vague, elusive crusades like fixing the so-called Empathy Gap, while devoting very little effort to launching tooth and nail campaigns to make shared parenting legislation the law of the land, or to end a drug war which disproportionately imprisons men

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Anger is an unmet need for accountability. It stems from any other emotion simply left unaddressed for too long.

The person experiencing anger can make themselves accountable- they can figure out how to take care of their own problem themselves. Or they can attempt to project accountability onto others.

This is a universal truth. Consider it the next time you feel angry.

[–]The_Dapper_Balrog 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Anger can also be the healthy response to perceived injury or wrong. The problem is that the perception can be very faulty, to the point where good is perceived as evil, and evil as good.

[–]ApprehensiveMail8 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

All emotions are healthy. What is not healthy is not understanding what they mean.

[–]The_Dapper_Balrog 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Well, not quite. Emotions can be unhealthy if they're in the wrong context. It's not healthy, for example, to be angry inappropriately (e.g. many feminists). If you only perceive injury or wrong without there being any actual injury or wrong, that's an unhealthy emotion.

That doesn't mean that it's bad or wrong to feel those emotions. Just that they aren't healthy in those contexts.

[–]PopularEquipment5357 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

When I'm angry or had a bad day, I drop to my knees and bust out some pushups or pour my feelings into my diary.

I don't start thinking about all the women who did me dirty like a female boss who shorted my overtime or all the times I was greeted by "nice" women who talked to me behind my back.

[–]The_Dapper_Balrog 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That's more regarding healthy v. unhealthy expression of emotion, but you're right.

Also, venting to another person can be healthy, too; men just tend not to do that as much as women do. Something that modern psychology conveniently ignores.

[–]PopularEquipment5357 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women will tell men that they aren't their therapist, yet they expect men to help them get equal rights, i.e legalizing abortion in every state, while offering them nothing in return.

[–]Foxsayy 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I meant in respone to this:

Note: If you're saying to yourself sentences like "Men SHOULDN'T look me up and down when I walk through the office, even though I'm a double D with a heart shaped ass", or "Society MUST start sympathizing with men just as readily as we do with women, especially young attractive women", then you're dealing in fantasy, rather than empiricism

[–]Foxsayy 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So what do you recommend instead

[–]NeoLosman 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Invest in some Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, read this article ( https://www.webmd.com/men/features/anger-control-men )or/and Charles Spielberger's decades worth of research on the subject. Prior to '15. learning to master one's emotions was just considered embracing adulthood. It wasn't until fairly recently that we all regressed, and began mistaking catharsis for something that's healthy

[–]bagman42069 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The top comment has me rolling. "Held to high expectations by everyone" I hate to say this but it's mostly women holding other women to such high standards. The only standard MOST men have for women nowadays is don't be fat. They then go on to talk about how they are systemically disrespected. This one has me confused cause for the past 2-3 years I'm pretty sure it was men who were systemically disrespected not women. Furthermore if it was women who the system has been disrespecting I'd love to see instances of the SYSTEM disrespecting women So laws, sentencing, job availability and the such. Idk I see jobs that straight up say they are only hiring women in Portland. The last bit was what did it for me they don't have adequate "support." Lemme ask, if women don't have adequate support then what kind of support do men have. Women have infinitely more support then men. They have abuse shelters, they have lawyers that'll help them just cause they are women. Jobs are hiring them significantly more then men just for diversity reasons.

[–]Strontium_9T 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Anger over . . what exactly? Modern feminism isn’t about equality. They already have that. It’s about privilege. It’s a female supremacy movement.

Men are walking away from these harpies in droves, and feminists are screaming. They’ll die alone . . well, they’ll have their cats, at least.

[+]AstoriaHat -11 points-10 points-9 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

I just posted on r/feminism under this article. Here is what I wrote. Please don't troll and make us all look like assholes.

I was directed to this article by a mens rights group in which I am often the devils advocate.
As far as the actual article goes it is kinda all over the place. India and the west are two drastically different societies with drastically different values and histories. My opinions and experiences relate to the west. Mainly the US. I don't think it makes sense to really look at India in the same light as sexual assault and sectarian violence are very normal there.
What I see as the major men's issue is men being stuck in abusive relationships with little recourse. Being exploited and used financially and children being used as both leverage and a means of financial reward.
For women the threat in an abusive relationship is more real and direct as men are physically stronger. For men it is more subtle as women are given benefit under the law.
Now the Mens Rights movement is often used by people who mistake privilege for rights. It can also be a place people vent. I found that looking at that echo chamber about this article then looking at this echo chamber at this article I am simply looking at the breakdown of discourse and western society.
I guess this isn't a place to specify what rights women are loosing but I see a lot of vague rhetoric that doesn't seem to point to a specific transgression. TBH I see this amongst Mens Rights supporters as well.
One thing I see as a bit disturbing is the extent to which motherhood is being re-centered around the mother rather than around the child. There is a generation of men who were raised by feminists to be feminist and who are slowly realizing they missed out on a caretaker during formative years. They learned that it was their responsibility to provide emotional support to their mother and that they could only able to get conditional love.
These boys have become emotionally unstable men with deep hatred toward women from their lack of a childhood. They have also been taught they they are privileged and that their feelings of sadness or anger are invalid. There are many many men like this and they aren't going to go away quietly. They also are unlikely the channel these feelings into protest art or political demonstrations. Even rational people don't hear the other side of things anymore as algorithms like that of reddit or twitter or youtube or google and their unholy symbiosis channel people into echo chambers.
The main women's issue in the west seems to be the pay gap, which never seems to be actually true when examined closely. The 70 cents to the dollar figure ignores different industries paying different wages and ignores the high rates of death and injury in the male industries. When looked at within an industry women tend to earn slightly more when we see the amount of time spent in the industry.
Abortion is the other issue which seems more of an issue in the USA and more of a religious issue for the anti-abortion side that doesn't seem to be overly male. It isn't like men are anti-abortion more than women. The issue goes down party lines, not gender lines.
In both these issues there seems to be a sense of academic dishonesty and a forced doublethink over the population. Men will say women get 70 cents on the dollar when they don't really believe it. While abortion is an issue that impacts women more than men it does impact men. Men are held responsible for children and in the modern day are expected to do a lot of childrearing even if they the the sole financial provider. But the most important thing is it isn't anti-women people who are anti-abortion. It is christian fundamentalists.
I suppose the other major issue is domestic roles. Now this has been muddled with gender issues and trans rights and pronouns and all that but even without all that it is a complex situation that has never been a specific way and with a variety of nuances. Even in very patriarchal homes one would often find that the wife would essentially run the finances and make the decisions while the man would work and serve as a figure head.
For instance when making a financial decision men will usually say I need to check with my wife even if he claims to be or in fact is the decision maker. Now this can be a way to negotiate. Often it is that she makes the purchases and essentially weighs the finances and makes the decisions. Now if she is the full decision maker it is still beneficial for a man to be the front as men have physical power. I suppose it is sexist that men are taken more seriously in a negotiating situation but, especially if we look at history, negotiations can have an undertone of possible violence. True violence has always been the domain of men. War, violent crime and killing dangerous animals. While men take some level of pride in this it isn't done for pride but necessity. the same way women take pride in childbirth. Its great but given the option one might opt out. Men really don't have that option. Only to an extent to men have that option.
Anyway on the domestic front it is hard to generalize as every household has a completely different dynamic. It does seem that the courts greatly favor the woman. Women are given the benefit of the doubt in any case involving violence, even if the woman is the only one being physically aggressive her aggression can be ignored. Even if a woman cheated she can take the house and the kids. Men in abusive relationships essentially have no choice but to stay in them. Women are forced to stay in abusive relationships by abusive men. Men are forced to stay in abusive relationships by the legal system. Their alternative may often be to loose contact with their children and have those children alone with an abusive woman.
Women being expected to do more housework can be seen as a social bias in favor of men but it seems less and less the case in the west. This is an issue where we really can't look at the west and places like India and imagine we are talking about remotely similar societies. It seems western society is evolving to make gender roles more fluid. Now this is hard as only women give birth and produce milk. Men are also physically stronger. Putting women in the domestic domain and men on the frontier of danger makes evolutionary sense. Now we have evolved and aren't in the woods where men need to fight tigers and bears but these genetic differences are still valid. While there will be women who make great firefighters and men who can calm an infant in moments these are clearly tasks where genetic markers are relevant when looking at populations.
The last point I make in this endless rambling meandering comment is that rage is a feeling caused by many things. All the metrics used in this article aren't cross referenced against an earlier time. Women feeling or expressing more rage may have been the case throughout history. Men are taught not to express rage. The strong silent type. Laconic and sturdy. Men may feel rage but do not express it through emotion. Men are taught to keep it to themselves and channel it into violence in the direction of whatever their society has decided needs to die. Men don't yell at their wives in sitcoms. A man yelling usually indicates an unusual and dangerous situation. A woman yelling is often normalized and commonplace in comedy. Women benefit in that they are allowed to vent by yelling at men. Women lose out in their anger is taken less seriously as it is more commonplace.
Overall I think that this issue is much less a gender issue and much more a societal issue. People are unable to listen, even to the thoughts in their own head, and would rather just have the most convenient belief re-affirmed by going to an echo-chamber connected to an algorithm created by addiction experts for the purpose of being addictive. Whatever you think you are reading about the real purpose is to get you to buy whatever the last thing you searched on google was because actual discourse and communication helps develop meaningful relationships with other humans and distracts us from mindlessly consuming as we feed into the soulless algorithm under the false pretense we are expressing an opinion or championing a cause.

You need to learn to make a concise point, not resorting to a wall of text.

I make a lot of points. Your comment adds nothing. 15 seconds wasted.

See, that comment will actually get read and it made a point. You’re learning. 15 seconds of useful feedback in my opinion. 😎

It didn't make a point. If it did the point was specific to my comment. Your feedback isn't useful as I already mentioned my comment was meandering. I get the sense you give a lot of unsolicited advice/feedback that you feel is useful and that you feel under-appreciated by the people who seem annoyed rather than grateful to hear it.

You have no sense of humour at all do you?

[–]Epipha-tree 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't read your wall of text, who has time for that? But I check your follow up comments and you can't even take VERY good advice with any kind of grace, there isn't a chance I'm reading that wall of text, it will be a waste of my time. Half a good message is in its delivery mate, no one is reading it.

Why insist on being a 'devil's advocate' to positions supported by data and empirical evidence?

Or is your oppositional position confined to unlettered venting on reddit?

[+]AstoriaHat -8 points-7 points-6 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

What empirical evidence? This is isn't science. it's barely social science. Everything on this and r/feminism is essentially opinion and infinitely subjective. What data is there that goes against anything I stated?

[–]reverbiscrap 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

So the nature of IPV, male scholastic failure, the abuse of boys, the legislative failure to address male mental health, is... barely social science?

Do you follow any academics who specialize in male issues? Or was I right in that your 'devil's advocacy' restricted to talking shit to men who are venting about personal issues?

Edit: did you get banned from 2x yet?

Most of what i see mra supporting arent mens rights issues. Like this. The right have a start to begin platonic relationships with young children in their early and mid teens then the relationship becomes sexual when the girl becomes legal isnt anywhere close to any of those things you mentioned.
Most of what I see MRA adcovates arguing for are things like this that arent mens rights issues at all.
Of a 30yo wan were to start datong a stident once he turned legal you would consider her actions predatory yet you defejd the same actions taken by men. By doing this you delegitimize the movement and all those issues mentioned above.

This is what I meant when I asked if you just argued with people venting; the answer is yes.

The rest of your post is just straight deflection; you ignored, for example, the Title IX poster who files legal briefs challenging sexist school programs. Or the posts offering legal advice to various situations men may face.

No, no, they don't matter, posts about studies of men's topics do not matter, only posts like this that are in poor taste at best, troll posts at worst (that are deleted btw by the mods) represent MRAs. Men like Dr. T. Hasan Johnson, Dr. Thomas Curry, Dr James Sidanious, Dr. Ronald Neal don't fucking exist.

You are not a 'devil's advocate', you are a bitch basic troll. Devil's advocates are knowledgeable about what they try to oppose in the goal of improving the conversation. Pointing to the unlettered as somehow representative is nonsense, but it works if you are just trying to defame and demean.

Sprry i posted on this thread thinking itnwas another thread so my posts didnt make sense.

If you read my long ass comment it mentions alot of issues.

It was long because it was designed for r/feminism as a response to the article and a general attempt to show a different opinion and break up echo chambers.

I also wanted to see how respponses to the same post differed between the two groups. I have gotten no response from r/feminism.

[+]AstoriaHat 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wait i think my comment was jist deleted by mods and i wasnt notified so my attempt to communicate woth r/feminism was a total failure. Mayne a more concise attempt will work but i habe noticed silencing divergent thought os the reddit norm

2x chromosomes

The devil has enough advocates. And the MRM talking points are empirically backed, while feminists claim their talking points are evidenced, but that evidence fails to stand up to even cursory scrutiny.

[–]AngryTails 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I read this whole thing, looked at the graphs, and am now more interested in what happened between 2017 and 2019 where both sexes reported anger. Went from ~25% to 35%+ for both.

My blood is boiling at the moment. I just saw a comments on an article about the Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt situation, their immediate responses to Brad Pitt being kissed without consent/sexually assaulted was that nobody was mentioning that Brad Pitt s a Domestic Abuser. It's like they are saying that it doesn't matter that Brad was sexually assaulted/kissed without consent all because he is a domestic abuser. I highly doubt that they would say it doesn't matter if an actress is kissed without consent/sexually assaulted if she has a history of domestically abusing someone. These people are so fucking hypocritical and there double standards never cease to amaze me.
