I want a long term relationship, just without needing to pay alimony in case of a break up/separation. I never want to be legally married. I live in New Jersey where common law marriage doesn’t exist.

This seems like a generally better option, but is there some kind of catch? Is there still some kind of way I may end up paying alimony even though common law marriages aren’t a thing in NJ? Child support is fair to me, but it’s just alimony which I consider to be bullshit.

I’m only 20, but I’m stressed thinking about my future. Does anyone have any knowledge/advice about unmarried long term relationships, living under the same house with children?

Is it better just to work and die single?
