Curious as to how you found this sub and became aware of male issues from a politically left perspective. There's so few politically liberal male spaces online which is a shame, and as someone who's mostly liberal I hate the association being liberal has with wokism and SJWs, and how people are quick to assume you're those things for being liberal. Also the very negative association and stigma male advocacy tends to have with the Far Right, which is a big reason important issues affecting men and boys continue to not be given any attention.

It was probably around 2018 or so, when MeToo exploded. Constantly hearing about women being abused and mistreated, and how it was constantly ignored how men also put up with the same (by both women and men alike). Whenever you'd bring up that men are also victims but then you get the usual retort of "Stop silencing women when they share their stories" or "Quit hijacking the narrative when women speak." Seeing how the (now exposed to be a fraud) Time's Up organization was trying to pass for protections for women but not for men, which is clear discrimination as men also put up with harassing and inappropriate behavior just like women and in comparable numbers. The notion of women who claimed to have been mistreated being believed just on the basis of gender which is not only asinine but also discriminatory since it assumes the man being accused is guilty and completely eliminates due process and can result in innocent men being punished for crimes they didn't commit and the false accuser walks scot-free. But then when Gillette put out their infamous ad, that was something of a tipping point for sure. Also the equally stupid and insulting "educate your son" meme. Making it as if being male means you're automatically prone to bad behavior, which is both ridiculous and insulting. Don't even get me started when you have misandrists denying that misandry exists or that it's not nearly as severe an issue as misogyny and whenever they drone on about women being afraid to be out by themselves, as if men aren't also vulnerable to being victims of crimes.

I don't exactly remember how I stumbled onto this sub but I recall it was right around the start of 2020 just before COVID hit. It was great and refreshing to finally find a space devoted to male issues and advocacy, and bringing awareness to unfair double standards and mistreatment men and boys often put up with. Without the harmful extreme right-wing rhetoric you often find in other spaces that claim to adovcate for men but really just exploit male issues to spread their propaganda. I'm hopeful someday the harmful stigma and association that male advocacy has with the Far Right will die out and these issues can be properly addressed and rectified. Recognizing that men and boys are also victims of violence, abuse, rape, sexual harassment/assault, murder, etc. in high numbers (by women as well as other men), abuse shelters also accepting of male victims, the unfair bias that boys face in schools, recognizing and fighting misandry as much as misogyny, ensuring due process for accusations, eliminating conscription, etc. among other things.

I think sadly as long as the negative association with male issues and the Far Right continues, no progress will be made. I'm for the most part liberal with most of my views and stances. Maybe more of a liberal-leaning centrist might be more accurate, and there's very little I tend to agree with the Right on. But I hate how issues affecting men and boys get overlooked so much and how there's so little done to empower them, and also the stupid assumption that if you're liberal you're an SJW or part of the woke mob. I can't stand most SJWs and find wokism is more like a bastardization and parody of liberal idealogy posing as the real thing. I don't even like using the term Men's Rights due to the extremely negative association it brings, and just prefer to use People's Rights, as both men and women have struggles and inequalities that need to be rectified and it's time to recognize that being male doesn't mean you automatically have it easy or don't face difficulties in life. Important to stand up for men and boys as much as women and girls.
