No evidence of any sexual activity, and she still insists she was raped yet can't remember anything.

If this guy is truly innocent i hope he gets a judgement for 6 million against her and she spends her life paying him. I would also sue the college and that employer.

[–]a__dead__man 544 points545 points546 points 8 years ago (54 children) | Copy Link

Reddington declined comment, calling it “a matter in the courts.”

She's hugely vocal about the whole situation even after the DA investigated and found no evidence of assault but as soon as she is asked directly and gets sued she shuts up

his summer job employer fire him immediately even though there was zero evidence of assault just to save their own skins rather than being supportive of an employee who wasn't even charged with anything

His college expel him after no charges are brought against him by the DA for unrelated undisclosed reasons

I'd say she's also running a strict 'agree with me or get lost' campaign on her social media where anything as small as stating facts from the investigation would be immediately deleted and that person harassed online.

If even the small amount of details in this article are correct then it's obvious enough she's bullshitting everyone! She said she woke up bloody, ripped clothes and had splinters but none of this was found in the rape test!

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt the morning after when she may have thought she was raped but after you've been tested by professionals and no evidence of sex (consensual or otherwise) is found then I have no pity for this sociopath

[–]Tallywort 80 points81 points82 points 8 years ago (51 children) | Copy Link

Even if he did rape her, I don't think the libel and smear-campaign she did was at all warranted. But honestly the inconclusive rape-test makes me wonder how/why she was allowed to ruin his life so much.

[–]NSF_Fill_InTheBlank 207 points208 points209 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The rape kit was far from "inconclusive". It was conclusive. No evidence of consensual or non-consensual.

[–]Scase15 93 points94 points95 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

But honestly the inconclusive rape-test makes me wonder how/why she was allowed to ruin his life so much.

What exactly about this is inconclusive?

A months-long investigation, which included a medical exam, rape kit and bloodwork within 26 hours of the incident, found no evidence Reddington was assaulted, drugged or even had a sexual encounter with Goldman, according to court papers and the District Attorney.

Or this?

Investigators found it “impossible to determine what, if anything, occurred that evening between Ms. Reddington and Mr. Goldman. There is no credible proof of any sexual conduct in this case, consensual or non-consensual,”

Just read the article man.

[+]Tallywort -27 points-26 points-25 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was more talking hypotheticals, less so about the article itself.

[–]d3dlyhabitz 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hypotheticals aren't necessary since we know all the facts.

[–]HaussingHippo 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How does that even make sense?

[–]JK_not_a_throwaway 34 points35 points36 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Check the title of the sub pal, that's the answer

[–]qtpie55555 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

If he had raped her you dont think he should be expelled and fired from his job? Smear campaign? He would go to prison.

[+]Tallywort -8 points-7 points-6 points 8 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Yes, and that is fair enough. Just don't need the smear campaign added on top.

[–]a__dead__man 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

If he actually raped her then it's definitely deserved on top prison time

[–]Tallywort 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I'm not sure, is it? he's already doing prison time and has to deal with all the stigma that comes with that. Friends and family already know. Job is likely already lost because of the prison time. And he's on a register. Does he really need a smear campaign on top?

[–]a__dead__man 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Murderers get them, pedophiles get them and almost all vulgar abusive criminals get them

it's a despicable act that deserves not only punishment in the eyes of the law but also in the eyes of the public

Rapists shouldn't be protected from public outrage

[–]badon_ 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Rapists shouldn't be protected from public outrage

EVERYONE should be protected from public outrage. That's why torturous lynchings by mobs are unheard of in civilized countries.

A 16 year old girl was burned alive in Guatemala because the mob thought she was an accomplice to a murder-robbery. She was actually just an innocent bystander, and they killed the wrong person in the most horrific way possible. Mobs, lynchings, and public shaming are uncivilized.

[–]a__dead__man 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's a big difference between a smear campaign and a lynching

[–]brokenkitty 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The problem with the public is not that they're harsh, it's that they sometimes are wrong. The legal system is the logical alternative to "the public".

[–]a__dead__man 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But a convicted rapist is guilty

You can't be wrong in your assumption that they are indeed a rapist

[–]Tallywort 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

And I don't believe any of them should necessarily get smear campaigns, which is the reason for my stance.

But clearly this is something we disagree on, and that is fine.

[–]badon_ 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're much more tolerant than I am. If I ever rise to become lord of the universe, this is the exact issue I would commit genocide over. Making people hate is the easiest way to control them. When governments resort to inciting mobs to raise or maintain their power, the light of prosperous civilization has already been extinguished, and it might too late to emigrate.

It's no coincidence the English-speaking half of Western civilization is widely acknowledged as being in decline (MAGA) at about the same time as they have instituted public defamation of "criminals" on registries that permanently block access to housing and jobs for the most economically valuable prime working-age men. Their real economic purpose is to ensure those men will never again compete with feminists for jobs.

That's precisely why LOUD AND PUBLIC false accusations of sex crimes are so popular right now.

Real rape victims are traumatized by it, and like all authentic trauma victims (regardless of the cause), they ALWAYS have difficulty talking about it, even in private with a professional trauma therapist. The shrill behavior of most public sex crime accusers is completely out-of-character for an authentic trauma victim. Most of those accusations happen before any trauma therapy has started. They are highly likely to be untrue. Any public accusation of any kind in a social and governing system that relies on gossip is highly likely to be untrue.

[–]a__dead__man 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That makes no sense. So you're saying a rapist should be able to commit such a horrific act, get convicted, serve his prison sentence, not have his face spread to the public and allow him to live his life free from the public's awareness of his crime or their ridicule?

[+]dexmonic -13 points-12 points-11 points 8 years ago* (28 children) | Copy Link

I know you guys hate women here but seriously, you want to protect rapists from punishment now?

[–]DarthyTMC 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Everyone should until found guilty

[–]dexmonic -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I agree, except that this guy say "even if he did rape her" meaning proven rapists, not just alleged.

[–]Scase15 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I'm pretty sure what she's doing whether or not he was found guilty, is still illegal.

[–]dexmonic -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I don't think anybody said what she was doing is legal or illegal. At least, not in the conversation I'm having.

[–]Scase15 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

You're advocating that someone shouldn't be protected from something. That's what laws are for, that's why rape is illegal.

So yes, rapist or no, he should be protected from someone else breaking the law and violating his rights. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

[–]dexmonic -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

So, you think rapists should be protected from people knowing that they raped someone? Because that's what I'm talking about.

Also this line you wrote is gold:

You're advocating that someone shouldn't be protected from something.

So what you're advocating is that someone should be protected from everything? That's sounds like some special snowflake bullshit.

"please, I just like to violate women and force them to have sex with me through the means of violence! I must be protected from people knowing I willfully rape others!"

What the hell kind of argument are you making? Like I said, I know you guys hate women, but now you are openly advocating protecting rapists?

[–]Scase15 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man Just FYI.

So, you think rapists should be protected from people knowing that they raped someone? Because that's what I'm talking about.

No, that's literally what the sex offender registry is designed to do.

So what you're advocating is that someone should be protected from everything? That's sounds like some special snowflake bullshit.

What I'm advocating is people obeying the law. Despite your pathetic attempt to paint me as a woman hating rapist sympathizer, I simply believe that laws are in existence for a reason and should be followed lest we descend into chaos.

If there is a law preventing them from doing what they did, and they chose not to obey it, they broke the law. The law in particular doesn't matter. Who broke the law doesn't matter. The law is the law. This includes things as menial as jaywalking all the way up to murder.

You need to take a breath, a step back, and inject some logic into the situation. Rape is bad. No one is condoning rape. Rape can and does happen to men, therefore by your logic I cannot be a woman hater as I don't think anyone should be allowed to break the law regardless of circumstances.

Take your attempts to be more inflammatory than need be elsewhere.

[–]dexmonic 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

If you want to see a strawman in action, look at what someone said to me here:

You're advocating that someone shouldn't be protected from something.

Oh wait, that was you.

Sorry if I get worked up when people try to protect rapists from the consequences of my actions. Oh lord, I'm so inflammatory.

[–]Tallywort 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

Honestly, yes. Is it really our job as a society to punish someone beyond the punishments they already got?

[–]dexmonic -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Stating facts about what someone did is punishment?

I know you guys hate women here but seriously, you want to protect rapists from punishment now?

[–][deleted] 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]dexmonic -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You'd have to be blind not to see the hate women get here.

[–][deleted] 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[permanently deleted]

[–]dexmonic 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, pretty much like that.

[–]Tallywort 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

No, of course not. But there is a difference between reporting to the authorities, and reporting to the media.

[–]dexmonic -5 points-4 points-3 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

So if someone is a rapist, we shouldn't tell anyone?

[–]Tallywort 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Why are you trying to read the most horrible things into my argument? Yes you should tell! you should tell the appropriate authorities so they can help you, you should tell your close friends and family so they can support you.

I'm just saying that IMHO you shouldn't tell everyone and their dog and the public and wilfully ruin their lives.

[–]dexmonic -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So... You are saying we shouldn't "ruin" a rapists life, the rapist who just willfully ruined someone else's life?

I'm not trying to read anything into what you have said, I'm reading exactly what you wrote.

[–]PsychologicalLawyer0 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

his summer job employer fire him immediately even though there was zero evidence of assault just to save their own skins rather than being supportive of an employee who wasn't even charged with anything

No fucking way you don't fire that guy, lol.

Your business wouldn't only be boycotted, it would vandalized and they would have fucking protests going outside.

[–]DarkRitual_88 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's legal 101 though. If you're getting sued, immediately stop talking to anyone about the case except your lawyer.

I definately think she's full of shit, but she's definately doing the right thing there.

[–]VulpesFennekin 747 points748 points749 points 8 years ago (30 children) | Copy Link

By that logic, I'm the first woman to walk on the moon, I just can't remember. Fame and fortune, please!

[–]palindrome_is_not145 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (25 children) | Copy Link

The really shitty thing is even after they found no evidence (including a rape kit done within 48 hours which came up completely negative for his DNA) the school still kicked him out and he lost his internship because she contacted those people directly to tell them he was a rapist. She went out of her way to ruin his life.

[–]VulpesFennekin 82 points83 points84 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

What the fuck is wrong with this woman!?

[–]Phoebesgrandmother 97 points98 points99 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

A better question is what are wrong with all these people who take it for gospel the word of anyone - without any sort of proof or due diligence. In this case a girl claiming rape. Furthermore, for a college (a place that demands you prove your claims via any scholastic endeavor, to cite your sources, to show your work and evidence) to not demand evidence and due process, well fuck that college.

[–]bugme143 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Can thank Obama for the kangaroo courts that expel you without due process.

[–]Janders2124 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Is this satire?

[–]bugme143 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

No. The "Dear Colleague" letter and accompanying guidelines penned in 2015 set back the standards of due process on college campuses by a good twenty years if not more. There's been no end of stories where the woman admits she made it up. They get a slap on the wrist, and the men are fucked for the rest of their life.

[–]Janders2124 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Do you have a source for this? Why would the President and the federal government dictate the policies of State and private universities?

[–]nekmatu 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Because if they don’t then their institutions won’t be eligible for all that sweet federal student loan money

[–]LowRentMegazord -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Jesus Christ, learn to google.

[–]FunkyFarmington 46 points47 points48 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

There are tons of action verbs in her posts, intentional infliction of emotional distress should be a slam dunk. Intent is usually a bitch to prove, unless you have words like hers.

The problem I have is the legal system (in this case) can only make him "whole" with money, but with allegations like these he cannot be made whole. She should face a criminal component to her actions, and even then it isn't really enough. The punishment should be so harsh and public as to make these kinds of situations very rare. He did nothing wrong, and will likely still be facing consequences 40 years into the future.

What happens when he has children and wants to coach his kids sports team? That will be a interesting background check and he will likely be denied. He will have to explain it in any job interview, any interviews for a decent job anyway. There will be psychological issues to be dealt with, basically for forever. She should be paying for that, too.

6 million isn't enough.

[–]Scase15 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

hat will be a interesting background check and he will likely be denied.

Why? He was found innocent. Never had charges brought against him.

[–]ThingYea 21 points22 points23 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just having rape associated with your name is bad. There always that 'what if' and such. If there are two equal candidates and one of them was in a rape trial, I wouldn't be surprised if they go with the other one 'just in case' or some bullshit.

[–]bwleung89 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yea plus even an Internet search will still pull his name up with a potential rape investigation

[–]trukilla420 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Trust me, a LOT of people believe women about this sort of thing, even when evidence of any kind whatsoever is absent. Just being accused of rape, even if it turns out you're innocent and did nothing wrong, does terrible things to a man's reputation. I can definitely understand why an employer wouldn't hire someone who has been accused of rape; you don't know if they'll "do" it again, and for the majority of society, an accusation like that calls into question the man's character and professionalism.

[–]htororyp 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because all it takes is for 1 parent to find out he was even accused to start a domino effect and whoever owns the team will always side with the parents over the coach

[–]FunkyFarmington 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

While a lack of a conviction on paper should be sufficient, most orgs can (and do) deny applicants for whatever reasons they choose. It's legal, as long as they follow the civil rights act, like not denying based on religion or race.

Also, he was NOT found innocent, there was no trial. Their were either no charges or they were dropped, leaving ambiguity of guilt in the eyes of many. If there were a trial and he was acquitted the outcome may be better, the case can be sealed, it's a clear not guilty finding, etc.

[–]Scase15 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not sure about the US but, I'm pretty sure in Canada that still counts as discrimination and would be subject to a lawsuit. The issue I think is proving that to be the reason.

It is absolutely absurd that a woman can mutter a few specific words on her own whim for whatever reason and completely destroy a perfectly fine persons life. Companies shouldn’t be able to fire a guy just because someone claims rape also... this is all asinine! This woman needs to lose this so a message can be sent to other privileged bitches who think this is a valid way to “deal with” a guy they don’t like.

[–]PelikanNutz 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That’s the scary thing of today. Your mistakes can’t get forgotten to local papers. You can google someone. Name changes. Changing countries. You can hide to a point.

There are people that you would not hire or date out there. They are too old for their mistakes to be known in forever google land.

Interesting times I gotta say. Don’t fuck your life up.

You would need a separate judgment for garnishments, though. Judges don't usually give that out in civil lawsuits if not involved with the IRS or other government agencies.

[–]imaknife 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

This is very false in ny, where the claim was filed.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Also false in WA. Was sitting in court as plaintiff in my own suit, saw at least 5 other cases where the "garnishment hearing" happened right after the judge decided the main case, and took maybe 30 seconds each.

Lawyer: "Your honor we estimate his salary at <x> based on his occupation, so this garnishment, spread over <y> months, would be approximately <z> percent of income."

Judge: "Approved."

(Granted, these were not $6M cases)

[–]alreadypiecrust 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Garnishment is job specific in WA, am I correct? This is a fascinating topic, btw. Anyways, I see a lot of people bounce around from company to company every couple of years to enhance their careers, lately. How does that work out for wage garnisment where you are?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Garnishment is job specific in WA, am I correct?

Not that I know of. They just used the occupation to estimate the income of the person being garnished, unless they're willing to provide that info to the complainant's lawyer.

[–]alreadypiecrust 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What I'm trying to say is, once you get the court order you must notify the defendants' job to "activate" the garnishment? If the person bounced from job to job, it's up to you to keep track of his/her where abouts at all times. Am I correct in my assumption?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I think that's correct. But I'm not a lawyer so...

[–]alreadypiecrust 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

How easy is it to get the garnishment judgment from the courts in NY? She currently doesn't have a job, so this will need to wait. Also, if she changes jobs then the garnishment on wages for that particular one is moot. Either way, the point is getting the money is through garnishment is an uphill battle.

[–]Wannabkate 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Welcome to alimony and child support where the garnishments are made up and wages dont matter.

[–]alreadypiecrust -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]realjefftaylor 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I don’t see anywhere in his comment that says he hopes that, but...if she has a shit job making shit money then this guy will never get close to the judgment he ends up being awarded. If she has a decent-paying job, then the state will garnish her wages until the guy gets paid.

It's not a theory it's literally New York state law. Men are far less likely to bring up sexual assault charges because they are ashamed. Had a friend in college who this happened to he blacked out and woke up in this girls room. He asserted he was raped but refused to go to the police. So she never got in trouble.

Yes, a mentally incapacitated person, which includes a person that is rendered temporarily incapable of appraising or controlling his conduct owing to the influence of a narcotic or intoxicating substance administered to him without his consent, is incapable of giving consent. New York Penal Law §130.00; §130.05; §130.90.

Broken court rooms

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I was confused about how it said she says she doesn’t remember anything from the night, but then also has a detailed story about exactly what he did to her. Which is it? She might have woken up and felt something happened that she didn’t want to, not even knowing if it did, and just decided to say it did

I also think that we have one justice system and if you are found to be not guilty of a crime you need to be considered to not have committed that crime in all areas of society. And yet even though our justice system found him innocent, the school still labeled him guilty and kicked him out.

Parallel justice systems in the universities are a terrible plague. It goes against everything this country stands for. If you are cleared of all charges by our courts you MUST be considered innocent by society. Sure an individual can chose privately to avoid you. But being kicked out of a school or fired? Doesn’t there need to be cause? The crime can not be cause, because he was absolved. He did not commit the crime. And committing the crime is the only “rule” the college claims he broke.

So what is the cause? They can just override the US court system? That is bonkers.

Being accused of a crime is not a crime. If you are accused and found innocent, then what right does a university have to implement their own parallel justice when in the eyes of the law you did no wrong. I understand it’s possible the courts can miss something sometimes but that’s the price you pay to avoid improsoning innocent people. Better to reject a truth occasionally then to accept a falsehood. (Preferring type 2 errors over type one, Studhing statistics for my CFa lol).

How can he legally be expelled from school when our country has officially determined his innocence. What is their cause for expelling him? It’s insane. This is an example of allowing type one errors to occur. Allowing innocent people to be punished so long as no guilty people are set free. No! It’s supposed to be the other way around. You occasionally allow guilty people to be set free in order to guarantee no innocent people are punished. This is monumentally important. And the university is just throwing it in the trash?

Parallel court systems must not exist. It’s such a terrible slippery slope. For some reason it only exists now for rape, but what if it starts expanding.

Rape is bad, plain and simple. No one deserves to be raped. Hopefully though, he wins his case and helps create a precedent that false rape accusers should be held accountable.

[–]outlawa 25 points26 points27 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've always thought that they should held accountable. However, there are people out there that believes that nothing should happen because it will deter real victims from reporting. I don't believe this.

Rape is a horrible thing and it should be punished. Ruining a person's life due to a lie is a horrible thing and it should also be punished.

And while I can't say that this woman is outright lying. None of the rape tests that law enforcement performed seem to point to any assault happening. Yet she's gone on a crusade to make sure this man is ruined. I find it disgusting.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She intentionally ruined his life. This isn't about her claiming false rape, it's her trying to destroy him. False rape claimants rarely ever get sued; the male victims are told nothing will change and that it will cost the male victim quite a lot financially without giving any benefit. This female let her 'empowerment' go to her head. It is no longer that she filed a false rape against him, she actively tried to ruin his life. The lawsuit is about her intentionally trying to destroy him; the false rape allegation is only a part of that

That was all in jest, of course.....but I agree that false accusers should be registered. I just think we can use the existing sexual offender registry. Why reinvent the wheel? If their accuser was found guilty, they would be on that list, most likely....so false accusers should face the same punishment.

[–]avalisk 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The problem here is a lot of rape cases are "he says it was consentual" she says "it wasn't". There is no hard evidence either way, so you can't convict or exonerate to anyone's actual satisfaction.

If it was just a list of proveably false claims that would be great, but even this guy in the news can't irrefutably prove he didn't rape her. Sure any reasonable person would see the evidence and logically assume his innocence, but you can also craft an unlikely but possible scenario where the rape occurred.

I think this will get settled out of court for a small fraction of what he actually deserves, and a "my client agrees to not make any more claims of rape however she will not acknowledge that the rape didn't happen."

[–]Daddyturtle317 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is true. But the problem is that the stories about him being innocent would be way down under the stories about being accused of rape. Like how newspapers will put crazy, wrong information on the front page. Then when it’s found to be wrong will put the correction buried 12 pages in.

[–]Mcmuphin 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, but there are plenty of employers who will see it and pass him over without a second thought in the interest of saving themselves any controversy. A hypothetical that I am imagining is that he does get hired somewhere even with the management aware of the situation, but some busy body makes a fuss big enough and most places will just cut him loose. Employers in this country feel no loyalty to their employees for the most part, despite any loyalty shown the other way around. A coworker of mine got fired for not wearing a safety vest on our receiving dock even though he was not on the clock at the time of the 'offense', and with that policy being incredibly unevenly enforced. He had worked here for 11 years and was a true asset to our team, but because he pushed back a little on idiotic changes they looked for a reason to can him and they took it. All the changes they made that he pushed back on were eventually reversed as they pissed off customers, just as he predicted they would.

I've known some guys who were falsely accused and while my career has taken off, their life was restricted because of the false claims against them. False claims ruin lives. The thing is, this is more than a false claim. She actively tried to ruin his life. She got him fired, tried to get him kicked out of school, etc.
Normally, false rape accusers don't get sued since the victims (males) are told there is no point since there is no payout and it will only cost them money. She is getting sued because she went on a massive power trip where she was intent on ruining his life. He is now in a position to sue, and will probably win.

[–]uft8 9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As the other comment says, his life is ruined.

Let's not forget that he is now at a high-risk for suicide. 40% of these victims commit suicide within 2 years of the false-claim (and have not been jailed or under supervision) during that period.

No one, outside of immediate family and friends, will support him. He is on his own with a permanent scar that will bring him down. He might kill himself within the decade, who knows.

That's the real tragedy here. We do nothing for these victims of false accusations.

Yet, if we try to help them, we are hurting "other victims" from coming out? Fuck that shit, anyone claiming that is evil and doesn't care about these people.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

It may help him in the long run that she actively tried to make his life hell after it was a 'no rape' judgement. Her name is published publicly, as well as the other things she did to make his life hell. If there is enough attention, a google search of him may result in his lawsuit. It will hopefully show that this was a female intent on destroying a man using every weapon available. He will hopefully gain allies with this. I'd buy him a beer if I met him.

[–]Nonyabiness 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I went through a few months of hell after a woman accused me of rape after we had a petty argument at a small get together. I got lucky because a friend of mine called me as soon as he found out she met up with the police, so I called them right away and gave my side of the story as well as a DNA sample.

We didn't so much as touch hands, and she had the gall to accuse me of rape.

Obviously no charges were filed. I was able to get the discovery on the case and every time she met with the police for interviews, of which there were 4, her story changed.

Most stressful few months of my life. What was worse was just having someone THINK you are a rapist, and all of the dirty looks I got from the people who knew about the situation.

I decided to leave town because even the accusation is enough to make people think you did it. Sucks because I loved living there.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am sorry to hear that, and I believe you when you say you didn't do anything. It is horrible how a simple lie can be believed by so many and how it destroys lives. We need a Believe Him movement.

I know that this (i.e. plea deals) is how the US justice system works, but it's really fucked if someone can reduce their sentence by more than 80 percent.

[–]CrystalineAxiom 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

If that's true it's pretty much guaranteed she'll have a history of behavior like this. Normal, well-adjusted people almost never do crazy shit like this. If she is making a claim like this for attention, she's done similar things before.

[–]gestures_to_penis 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

That information would be protected by hipa. We and any court would never be privy to it.

[–]CrystalineAxiom 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I'm talking about stuff like lying for attention and making up crazy stories. The people who know her would have almost certainly encountered behavior like this before. Moreover, if you know someone who is capable of making up a story like this, you've probably noticed something like that too.

Think about it this way. Imagine publicly accusing someone you know... maybe even dislike... of pedophilia or rape when you know it isn't true. There's no way you'd do that, right? It's so far out that it's hard to even imagine doing. Most people feel like that. The ones who don't have something wrong with their brains. Something serious enough that it typically gets expressed in multiple areas of their lives. That, or they've experienced some very compelling reason to lie.

When you look at the distribution of people who have been caught lying about rape, you'll find that this analysis bears out. In fact, the vast majority of people who lie about rape fall into only a few categories. A lot of them are children who are scared of getting in trouble with their parents. Some simply lie about it in order to get medical care; like the children, this group rarely accuses a specific person. Other than that, there are adult accusers with one of four motivations: personal gain, mental illness, revenge, and the need for an alibi.

I could go way more into depth with this if you'd like. It's actually pretty interesting. Suffice to say, if this woman is lying, there's an extremely high chance that she has a reputation for being less than truthful.

[–]gestures_to_penis -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

[–]CrystalineAxiom 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You're analyzing things without data

[–]CrystalineAxiom 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

OK... first, that's not what hyperbole means. Hyperbole means exaggerated statements that aren't meant to be literal.

Second, I do have data, I even referred to it in my post: "When you look at the distribution of people who have been caught lying about rape...". That part of what I wrote is based on what I discovered when I read through the national exoneration registry files for cases involving rape. I specifically kept track of the case details for rape convictions involving false accusations. In addtion, I'm also drawing on information from possibly the most detailed study of this topic yet conducted: A Gap or a Chasm. I've actually read quite a few other studies on the topic, but those two sources are by far the most helpful. I'm not sure why you'd make the assumption there was no data when I pretty clearly alluded to it in my first post.

Hopefully this clears things up.

Just because one person uses the #metoo movement wrong does not mean everyone is using it as a cry for attention. That movement put bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein behind bars so it's working.

[–]Paladin_Aranaos 20 points21 points22 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think they were implying that the woman is using the #metoo movement as a cry for attention. the movement has had some very good things brought out of it but also a lot of ugly falsehoods as well just like many other highly-charged campaigns.

[–]Razzal 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It also highlights one of the issues with it. I do not want a world where anyone can accuse someone with little to no proof and before things can even get sorted out, the accused person's career is over. It would be great if we could find some happy medium between no one feeling they can speak and as soon as anyone hints that a person has done something wrong the internet is clamoring for a person to lose their job. If only people could speak and be heard with the listeners staying objective until the facts are known

A months-long investigation, which included a medical exam, rape kit and bloodwork within 26 hours of the incident, found no evidence Reddington was assaulted, drugged or even had a sexual encounter with Goldman, according to court papers and the District Attorney.

That's kind of important. Historically, the DA wants convictions and will condone arresting men on the flimsiest of evidence. The DA pointing out that there is no evidence might be the only damning proof Mr. Goldman needs.

Edit: holy shit, the article gets better and better. The school had no basis for expelling him and wouldn't explain their position; the assistant DA confirmed the DA's recommendation; and Goldman was never even charged. Reddington is a borderline psychopath.

Edit: thank you /u/MalyceAforethought , psychopath vs sociopath is an important distinction.

Edit: moving this here for visibility.

For anyone not familiar personality disorders it may seem like a nebulous and interchangeable distinction.

'Psychopath' sounds scarier but they're typically less violent, more calculating and more manipulative; they don't experience empathy or guilt. Etiology leans toward congenital. They will have normal jobs and seem social and charismatic.

'Sociopaths' have high propensity for violence and drama. They're impulsive, risky and erratic. Their lives are frantic and they'll jump from relationship to relationship and job to job. Etiology leans toward upbringing and environmental factors.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty

Zero tolerance happened.

As there is no penalty for false reports and rape accusers are simply believed and supported, I wonder what would happen if a male student accuses a female student of drugging and raping him. Surely we'd see a comparably swift reaction by the university against the rapist in the absence of any evidence or even a lucid report of the incident

[–]MalyceAforethought 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not all psychopaths/sociopaths are sadists. The perceived "enjoyment" has little to do with the distinction.

The distinction, as I see it, is Reddington's complete disregard to what is apparent reality. In her mind she either truly believes she was raped, and sees the DA's failure to substantiate her claim as a vast miscarriage of justice, OR she does not believe she was raped and is pursuing a path of personal destruction for reasons we are not privy to. Either way, the actions speak more to psychopathy than anti-social personality disorder.

That being said, none of us are really qualified to state with fact that she is or is not either of those things. Even with the appropriate education, liscensing, and experience, none of us are assigned this case. If so, there would be the patient/doctor relationship which would preclude the voicing that opinion outside of a legal duty to do so. I doubt her head doc would use Reddit as a vehicle to issue such an opinion.

Historically, the DA wants convictions and will condone arresting men on the flimsiest of evidence.

What? No they don't. In fact, doing that generally messes up their conviction rates. They almost never arrest for a big crime like this unless they feel like they have a convincing case.

Arresting someone is admitting a crime happened. Not convicting someone is letting them get away. So if they just arrested people on flimsy evidence it would make it look like their precinct has a ton of crime that it never solves.

[–]SkeptiCynical 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I can't tell which country you're in but that isn't procedure in the US.

Arresting someone is taking them into custody on suspicion of a crime, whether there is evidence of a crime or not. You don't always get charged with a crime when you're arrested, you can be released without charge or 'un-arrested'. This happens commonly for domestic violence accusations. Lots of arrests, maybe some indictments, lots of plea deals. As expected, men are disproportionately arrested for domestic violence even when the man calls police and is the one bearing injuries.

Indictment comes from a grand jury. Arraignment is a formal charge - that's when the prosecutor is told whether they can pursue the case. The suspect can be ROR'd, bailed or bonded.

Conviction or acquittal comes after the trial.

Edit: DA's don't arrest people, the police do. But the commissioner and the DA do pressure precincts to follow through with more arrests in a certain area (domestic violence, gang activity, vehicle thefts, drugs) because they are politicians. Arrests prop up the numbers they highlight in their election campaigns.

Edit 2: DA's don't oversee a precinct, they are the main prosecutor for an entire county.

[–]mantrap2 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You aren't from a Common Law country, are you? Common Law = US or any British Commonwealth nation which use law derived from British Common Law traditions. So US, UK, SG, AU, NZ, etc.

What you describe is how it works in a Civil Law country which are derived form French Civil Law which are derived from Roman Law. The includes pretty much all countries that are not Common Law above. So France, Germany, EU-generally, Japan, China, etc.

Historically, the DA wants convictions and will condone arresting men on the flimsiest of evidence.

That is just not true. US attorneys bring cases when they believe sufficient evidence exists to achieve a conviction. They do not try cases with flimsy evidence except in rare circumstances. I can't imagine district attorneys in general will stray far from the rule, although they can be more ideological depending in the area and how they are selected. Arresting

Arresting

Arresting

Arresting men. The DA condones arrests. I'm not even talking about prosecuting. Arresting.

Source: was taken into custody and not charged twice for fake DV accusations. Responding detectives dropped the DA's name and DA's campaign focus as reasoning for why they would take me into custody when there was no evidence of a crime and I was literally holding the evidence that my ex was lying (audio on my cell phone and two emails).

The commissioner and the DA would not open investigations against my ex for filing dozens of provably false police reports because gender politics and liberal county.

[–]chr0mius1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

So the DA arrests people accused of violent crimes? Not shocking. Here we see an accusation with flimsy evidence that didn't result in an arrest. Anecdotes aren't a credible source when you're talking about generalized actions across a large culturally and geographically disparate area like the entire United States. Everything in your anecdote speaks to an ideological bent of your DA, and not DAs in general.

[–]SkeptiCynical 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

District attorneys don't arrest people. DA decides if and how the prosecutor can proceed.

Not shocking.

It becomes shocking when women can simply call the police, point at a man and claim assault, and the police arrest the man when there is no reasonable suspicion which is the guideline for detainment.

[–]Uilamin 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The school had no basis for expelling him and wouldn't explain their position; the assistant DA confirmed the DA's recommendation; and

Goldman was never even charged.

The reason for no reason is simple - it eliminates the school from making a claim around his guilt.

[–]SkeptiCynical 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's surprising because there was simply nothing to see. By this school's standards, I can have the entirety of the student body expelled and every member of the faculty relieved of their jobs by making a few phone calls and accusing each of forcible sexual contact.

[–]SkeptiCynical 98 points99 points100 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

For extra facepalming insanity, read her facebook post. This woman has a dim future in creative writing.

She's convinced that the only proof she needs to convince the world that Goldman raped her is that she says so.

She can't preserve continuity and cohesion in her own story. From the top, she doesn't remember any assault, she concluded this on her own, in the absence of any proof. The rest plays out like a shitty TV drama: she says the rape detective "wasn't listening to her" when she told them she was sodomized; but this would be in a written report. She criticizes the 'disgusting' ADA for confirming that her clothing was not covered in blood; but these would have been photographed and certainly would have made terrific evidence except... there are no photographs of bloody clothing.

She revels in Goldman's expulsion from school but acknowledges that universities have no standard when deciding whom to expel. Then she parrots every trope that belongs to legitimate rape survivors.

It's a terrifyingly clever campaign because doubling and tripling down on her lie is exactly how she is avoiding criminal charges.

[–]Slade_Riprock 40 points41 points42 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Notice she doesn't link the actual police and Ada report that flatly states there is ZERO evidence she was raped, drugged or evm had a sexual encounter with the man? Notice this isn't a case of a prosecutor saying we have evidence but we won't win... This is the police and prosecutor stating there is NO EVIDENCE this woman was raped or assaulted, anything.

But in her warped mind despite her remembering nothing. Despite no existence of evidence. Despite everything she knows she was raped and it was the police who didn't listen, write down anything, take any photos and it was a prosecutor disgustingly stating there is no evidence that makes her a double victim.

This girl is sick beyond belief...my God after the investigation and zero evidence why can't she be charged with a crime? Harassment, etc?

[–]SkeptiCynical 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's why I'm convinced she's acting and she knows she's acting. She's too far invested in the lie and the worst thing she can do for herself now is to back out.

You know we used to readily call out people who imagined shit that never happened. They were simply labeled 'delusional' and 'kooks'. Tawana Brawley is the first that comes to mind. #metoo has thrown a life line to false accusers.

[–]Slade_Riprock 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We have created this odd sub section where we grant women the right to be believed despite evidence. It is now politically out of favor to even investigate a claim by a woman of sexual assault or rape. If she says it, it happened.

You see Cosby, Weinstein, Spacey three cases where there is smoke there is fire. But then you have Chris Hardwick a woman who admittedly is mentally ill claims allnthis to destroy a person yet his wife and all other exs stated exactly the opposite. We have women branding women as sell outs if they don't automatically believe someone.

Mental illness is real. Can't judge this girl maybe she is ill. I know from. Experience those with mental illness can. Conflate and concoct things that happened in. Pieces into a different narrative in their head.

his employer on the other hand should pay for firing him on a made-up basis

That's never going to happen though. At-will employment is the law in the US. Employers can fire you for virtually any reason. There's a very short list of reasons they can't fire you; basically, they can't fire you for being part of a protected class (e.g. they can't fire you for being Jewish), but nearly anything other than that is fair game. Your boss can fire you because he doesn't like the color of the shirt you wore to work today, and that's perfectly legal.

The trade-off is that, if they don't have a good reason for firing you, they have to pay your unemployment while you look for a new job. So, if it makes you feel any better, his former employer most likely did pay for firing him.

It sucks that he lost his job, but I think that the girl who accused him is the one who needs to be punished for that. In order to punish the employer, employment laws would need to be fundamentally changed.

Yeah but if a woman does that to a man it’s called “forced sexual intercourse” . Don’t you read the news?

[–]Careless_Corey 40 points41 points42 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Nope, it's just called "having sex", don't you know!

Machete fetish.

[–]PaidInBacon 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Having understood that reference, its sad how double standards are a thing. Men rape, women “force people to have sex with them”.

[–]fredo226 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good luck and godspeed young man. The evidence presented in the article makes it absolutely clear her intent is to completely destroy and defame through slander and libel. She needs to be made an example because her actions are also harming the women who actually have been assaulted.

[–][deleted] 18 points19 points20 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

For the health of our republic we really encourage people to go back to the presumption of innocent until proven guilty.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Everytime I bring that up I get accused of "Blaming the victim" what a world we live in

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Which is odd, because the victim in this case is the man being accused. Everyone just wants someone to blame. Even if they’re innocent.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

right because it is encouraged that you believe someone if they accuse someone else of something sexual. They want us to believe the worst in people always and can't fathom that someone is lying

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If I were the judge in this case, I would order her to make herself available any time night or day to explain to anyone he wanted (at job interviews, etc), that she falsely accused him.

If she failed to do so within a half hour, I'd throw her in jail for criminal contempt.

(Yes, I know this would never happen, but it's my daydream leave me alone.)

[–]kittenblount 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

How do you not remember anything but you are certain you were raped?

She woke up fully clothed. And no evidence of ANY sexual activity.

She's desperate to be believed and she keeps doubling down on her lies.

It's just like that Mattress Girl cunt who everyone knows was not raped and wanted more dick even after the alleged rape occurred.

But instead of admit she made a mistake she just keeps hammering away at the accusation. It's hen pecking on steroids.

I hope he wins his law suit and I hope she has the money to pay him.

He should probably sue the university because his Title IX rights were not upheld. He had a right to equal protection and with absolutely no evidence they should have dropped the whole thing.

What a cunt. I never believe women when they claim abuse or victim hood anymore.

Prove it; and if you can't then STFU about it and move on.

[–]thegoldengamer123 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

It reminds me on the UVA and Duke cases. Those were exactly the same and barely anything happened.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Oh, something happened.

The DA got fired and disbarred.

The false accuser got a scholarship and then went on to kill a man.

I still remember feminists like Amanda Marcotte insisting that they were guilty even after all the facts came out and they were released.

No doubt she was still in Mangum's corner when she stabbed her boyfriend to death.

[–]SkeptiCynical 35 points36 points37 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

To clarify: this is a civil suit, she's not being prosecuted. She can't take a plea deal with the DA because she was never charged criminally. If she recants, she risks being charged with filing false reports (eg Yovino).

She's doubling down with her social media rants so that her only exposure is the civil case, which she will lose. If she can't pay she'll have to file bankruptcy. But she will lose the civil case because there is no evidence and she's continuing her campaign of character assassination.

There is good news here. It's not trial by jury which could be manipulated and derailed by a single feminist. It's not a decision for a judge to make whether to charge her with a lesser crime based on hyper-liberal, woman-friendly 'guidelines'. She's being sued for defamation in civil court.

Is'nt it fucked up that any woman can accuse any guy of rape and his life is ruined forever, and yet there are Feminist groups saying women are the oppressed group here. What is it going to take before society says enough is enough? How many more innocent men have to have their lives ruined for this shit to stop? Does society itself has to crumble because there just aren't enough men left to keep it running before this shit ends?

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

PoundMeToo is filled with false rape accusations. They resort to trial by publicity instead of going through the law, which is dangerous for society.

> Due to the severity of the allegations and our zero tolerance policy, we have elected to immediately terminate the employment relationship

AN ALLEGATION IS NOT A CONVICTION! I can't stand the fact that when it comes to allegations like this, it's "guilty until proven innocent". I hope this guy wins.

[–]SkeptiCynical 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hell, an allegation isn't even a charge.

I can allege that the entire student body at Syracuse had sex with me but I don't remember it. By the university's own policy they have to expel the entire student body. Number of matriculated students drops to zero, the university has to shut its doors.

I was called sexist when I made a public claim that the #metoo movement was only going to make things worse.

Funny, this is exactly what I was talking about.

[–]SackOfHellNo 19 points20 points21 points 8 years ago (42 children) | Copy Link

Funny story. My boyfriend is doing a Ted Talk in September, and he is so afraid that, given some possible rise in his public profile, someone will try to take him down in this manner (using lies, of course, because there's nothing there). And he will never be able to save his reputation after that. Because the#metoo movement perpetuated a lack of due process. It has been powerful, and it has been important. But it has also created a false hysteria.

[–]ITS-A-JACKAL 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

I’m curious, does his talk have something to do with the metoo movement, sexual assault, or men’s perspective on this issue? Or is it completely unrelated to any of this?

[–]SackOfHellNo 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Unrelated. He suffers from severe depression, and his talk address how writing stand-up material about suicide and the things he's gone through (molested by his sister for years, etc.) helps him. How if someone decides to write jokes about how they were raped and we get all upset about it, we're effectively silencing a victim.

It's going to be great. I'm so proud of him. But the #metoo movement may compel someone to dig up things or lie because people are terrible and mean. It's more just "will I even be allowed to succeed in a world of random witch hunts"? An ex could come out and accuse him of being abusive (complete lie) and it would be over with no due process.

[–]Denny_Craine 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

As someone who has struggled with depression for most of my life now and has been helped immensely by expressing those feelings through art, can you please tell him I think that's a really fucking cool idea and it takes a lot of bravery to get up in front of strangers and expose your vulnerabilities like that.

Due to his history, and mental health, he’s probably suffering some anxiety induced paranoia about this. Not everyone who gets a small amount of attention will automatically become accused of something. In fact, this is not happening to the vast majority of people, whether they are celebs, have a blue checkmark, or make a Tedx talk. You should assure him these are just paranoid thoughts and everything will be just fine.

[–]SackOfHellNo 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I understand that. And my best guess is that nothing will come of it. Regardless, he's afraid and I don't blame him.

[–]paperairplanerace 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's amazing and wonderful that he's going to pipe up so publicly about not only that angle on coping, but on being a male victim of a female assailant in the first place. That takes a ton of courage, and I think he's right to be concerned about backlash. He's a hero as far as I'm concerned, the more visible these stories can become the better off all victims will be.

[–]SackOfHellNo 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I really appreciate that. Thank you so much. It means the world to me that people feel the same way you do.

[–]paperairplanerace 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It means the world to me that people like your guy are making a point to help advance these topics, and that people like you support him. It's been about ten years since I started advocating for men's issues/noticing that guys get deplatformed and maligned a lot, and I've caught a looooot of flak for it, but just in the last year or so I'm seeing a really visible turnaround in the public and seeing more people concerned about things like speaking up for male victims of assault and injustice, and it gives me hope.

[–]stakoverflo 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I have no "rising public profile" but just the sheer possibility of having my life ruined over a false rape accusation terrifies the shit out of me. Like all it takes is one unstable/unhealthy girlfriend and boom.

[–]SackOfHellNo 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yep. Someone in my life has an ex girlfriend who lied to the police, and he's in court over it. The reports even contradict each other. All it takes is one person with one lie and it's over. I hope that doesn't happen to you.

[–]stakoverflo 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

With my dating record I've got little real concern over it lol. But it's absolutely in the back of my mind any time I start talking to someone on OkCupid or Tinder

[–]SackOfHellNo 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link

[+][deleted] -10 points-9 points-8 points 8 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

[–]SackOfHellNo 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

Not really. The selection process is pretty rigorous. Plus, the TED people pull a lot of TEDx talks and upload them to the TED website. I'm not sure why you're determined to discount TEDx talks when I could link you to several great ones. It's pretty offensive and doesn't relate to my original post.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Smarten up.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points38 points 8 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

YOU smarten up.

I lived in Long Island for five years, fairly beautiful place inhabited by the most ignorant, bigoted people I've ever met on the east coast. From neighbours to cashiers to police, Long Island is guttertrash. I've lived in Jersey, Manhattan and damn near the rest of the tri-state are, SOMEHOW PHILLY IS A BETTER PLACE THAN ALL OF LONG ISLAND.

Here's an unfortunate fact, some places suck.

[–]The_EA_Nazi 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sounds like you lived in the shit hole that is Hempstead

[–]TheeSweeney 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah and LI is not one of those places. If you had some shitty interactions, that sucks, maybe you were just in a shitty part of the island.

But go fuck yourself if you think the entire 3 million person population of an 112 mile long island is "guttertrash".

[–]Capital_Knockers 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

I'm born/raised on the Island and lived for years in Philly as well.

You're being a drama queen. People are people wherever you go - it all depends on what energy you are putting out there.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Yeah im not gonna match my energy with the racist methhead who lived next door, or the cop who called my girlfriend a nigger for absolutely no reason, or the old ladies who sit and stare out their window for 16 hours a day. Fuuck that. Long Island is much like Florida in that shitty, old racist people go there to retire, and shitty young people thrive. There is not a single redeeming quality about LI, aside from Hofstra University.

It has less to do with energy and more with directed attitude. Long Island is all attitude, zero energy.

[–]Capital_Knockers 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Hahahaha, bro LI is almost 3 million people, which makes it larger than 10+ states, sounds like you picked a shitty part to live in.

PS no one uses meth on the Island, if you said blow you'd be a lot more believable and Hofstra is in Uniondale one of the shittiest places you could possibly go to.

Anyhooo, you can have your opinion thats fine, you're just wrong.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's not hard to pick a shitty place to live in LI. 3 million people and you know every single one doesn't use meth.

Hofstra, the campus, is far removed from the town it's located in. You're not getting random stragglers on Campus.

All your doing is proving you're actually from LI by saying a bunch of dumb things.

[–]Cidna 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wine country, world class beaches, fantastic bars/restuarants, access to NYC via the LIRR, Shelter Island, the hamptons, Montauk, fantastic state parks, niche communities, multiple high quality universites/colleges... I could go on.

Just because you picked a shitty part of it to live, doesn't mean a 112 mile long island of 3 million people is all terrible everywhere.

You said LI is full of awful people. I challenged that idea. You then said that compared to places that are more affluent than LI, LI itself is awful, which is both a separate argument and non-sensical since it is basically saying "compared to better places it's worse".

People tend to give you the energy you put off. If you've found every person on LI to be an "awful" person, there's one unifying factor between them besides being from the same place, they all have to deal with you.

If everywhere you go smells like shit, check under your nose.

Long Islanders are awful -> LI is awful -> LI has some problems -> There's plenty of nice people, I like to go and visit, but it's got some issues...

It would seem what you're saying is, Long Island is a place. Being a place, there are good parts and bad parts. So you're not really saying anything at all.

If you go to any local sub, you'll find plenty of people that say there is "a surplus" of shittiness in their area. SF has the Tenderloin, NYC has Brownsville and East New York, Paris has de Petite Ceinture, London has Canning Town. There's nowhere in the world that is all good. Every nice place has a shit side.

Yeah, if you drive around one of th emost populous cities in the world during commuting hours, there will be terrible traffic. If you plan your trips around the ebb and flow of people getting to/from their jobs, you won't have an issue.

I'm arguing most people are good, some are shit, not the other way around.

Ah yes, the Vanderbilt estates and the rolling lawns of the Old Mansions on the north shore just reek New Money. And those upstarts on Gardiner's Island with their land deed from 1639, clearly they're just some nouveau riche trash. /s

On a list of the most dangerous cities/highest crime rates in America, nowhere on LI is even on there, but two other places in the tri-state area are, both in Jersey. Source, where do your friends live that your constantly battling traffic and fending off muggers?

To sum it up: the claim that it is the worst suburban area in the tri-state is objectively false.

TIL; asking a question regarding proper punctuation is an “overreaction” (and I quoted that as an actual quote, not like air quotes in real life)

[–]paperairplanerace 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sorry, you were one of a couple people pointing this out and the double question mark made it seem emphatic and accusatory of the journalist, idk. It's just really baffling me that people seem to be expecting quotation marks to be used derisively rather than literally. If you weren't implying this, then I misinterpreted you and that's my bad. It's just confusing me that anyone would see it that way rather than the simpler answer, being that they're literally called quotation marks and that's their first main real job. It weirds me out that we live in a time where maybe people have seen "air quotes" used more often than they've read real articles. Not you, I mean, just in general this raised the idea for me.

It’s scary when you don’t even have to sleep with someone to get accused of rape and have your life ruined

[–]NecroHexr 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Awesome, we are accepting "in progress" stuff now? We all know this bitch would get a slap on the wrist at most.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

$5000 in restitution

[–]UglierThanMoe 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't say that this is a PPD just yet. It's a work in progress that I hope will turn into an ironclad PPD once the judge/jury slams her.

[–]Heterospecial 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How does she claim to not remember anything but knows she was raped? As a judge that would be my first question

[–]TooBadForTheCows 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He should also sue Syracuse and Bohler Engineering for expelling/firing him without there being an actual guilty verdict against him.

[–]periwinklebarbie 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Legit makes me mad to read this article. If she made this up (like it sounds like she did) this poor guy. Does she not realize how sadistic what she's doing is?! I tried posting a link to this article on her fbook wall. Oh well, considering how psychotic she is it's probably a good thing I wasn't able to post unless I'm her friend.

[–]clwu 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lucky to get $6 from her

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She should be executed for this. Absolutely no excuse, she’s out to ruin a young man’s life and I have no tolerance for that.

[–]bman0001 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Makes me wish for a return to honor-based culture where reputations mattered more than life itself. That bitch should commit seppuku.

[–]ssenkraH 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You think they would have used a slightly more appropriate picture of the dude...

[–]smacksaw 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I love how they portray her as a nice girl with a puppy and he's a hairy mook with a creepy moustache.

Still, her eyes and smile betray her.

[–]Binarytobis 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I would say he doesn’t have a case since he would have to prove she knowingly lied, but it sounds like she was aggressive enough online for him to sue for libel.

[–]Aivias 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How can someone who wasnt raped not be knowingly lying when they say they were?

[–]Binarytobis 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The rape kit came back negative, but they aren’t infallible and that’s the only real evidence either way. Probably enough evidence for a civil suit, though.

She also may be mentally disturbed and truly believe she was raped.

[–]mdification 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

TBF that's a rapist moustache

[–]Ghostofcockroach 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But shouldn't he sue his university & employer instead?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You start with the ones that don’t have a staff of lawyers.

[–]Jeremy-x3 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

!RemindMe 1 year & 5 years

[–]burgernow 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why did he sue and persue a criminal case?

[–]SkeptiCynical 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Civilians can't initiate criminal cases; that's done by the prosecutor and the DA. Civilians can only bring civil cases against other people.

[–]trafridrodreddit 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I hope he receives some justice for the terrible things she has done to him.

[–]Shadowacer614 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Never trust a redhead

[–]Rubenn13 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is great and all, but don’t be too hopeful on the dollar amount. Even if he wins for $6m, doubt he’ll get even a fraction of that. If she’s broke, he isn’t getting much, if anything. Winning and collecting are two very different things.

[–]xandel434 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It sets a precedent to go after the university

[–]Rubenn13 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

True, good point!

[–]turtleh 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a fucking mingebag

[–]ryuut 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah a new episode for svu

[–]Phazon2000 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Did they take pictures with their respective lawyers? Should be a good case.

[–]rumblith 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So she couldn't remember anything and there was no evidence of rape. Very convincing. /s

[–]Mr_Ted_Stickle 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'd shoot her in the face with a buck shot 410 straight out the Judge and serve my time in peace. sorry not sorry

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

if only more men did this to these life destroying cunts man.

[–]Mr_Ted_Stickle 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I dont know how I havent been banned from 2 tits chromosomes yet. I fucking hate that cringy bullshit

[–]RiotRoBot 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I like she practically screams rape from the rooftops regardless of the state of the complaint and when asked for comment about the lawsuit says it’s a matter for the courts.

[–]JohnnySkidmarx 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He needs to sue the University and the company that fired him as well.

[–]HNutz 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Innocent until proven guilty", except for when a guy's accused of rape and they don't bother investigating?

[–]alc0 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She started a conversation though!!

[–]Edetolla 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This isn’t a ppd

[–]Mundt 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She claimed it wasn't the first time he had raped someone, however the article doesn't really go much more into that statement. Is that even true?

[–]lawschoolbreak 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She doesn't say anything else that supports it in her Facebook psycho rant. But now you are asking for facts which is not the point /s/

[–]A_Bot_Named_Vlad 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bleed this bitch dry.

[+]Vermontplates -9 points-8 points-7 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Rape her then.

[–]SackOfHellNo 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck right off with that.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Go fuck yourself

[–]Dithyrab[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

oh look r/braincel is here lol

[–]Golgon3 -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

you ask for 6million, they offer 3.5 then you go down to 5 million and then they go up to 4.

Then you realise that you have no chance anyway and take the 4 dollars they offered.

[+]chicagoanimal -18 points-17 points-16 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

She's pretty hot

[–]curious-children 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

bad

[–]chicagoanimal -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yeah but she is sexy.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

But crazy. Don't put your dick in crazy.

[–]sloburn13 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If you do might want to get a signed consent form.

[–]test1442 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You just raped her
