I was falsely accused of rape. A bipolar ex told the police I had "raped her in the past" and filed a police report. Police wanted me to "come in and talk" but I gave them a lawyer's number instead. I was a nervous wreck for a month until they finally decided not to pursue charges against me. My false rape accusation isn't part of the statistics because they never filed charges but I had to wait a month thinking my life was over and I didn't talk to the police which prevented them from building a case against me.

When i was in high school a girl i had messed around with a couple times decided that she was mad that i didn't want a relationship with her. She was going to attempt to entrap me by inviting me to a "hotel party" and claiming that i showed up and raped her. I was tipped off by one of her friends. Played it cool, told the girl i was going to show up, then never did and established a solid alibi with several friends.

The news can’t report on this, because it will expose the possibility to their audience that women, can in fact, lie about sexual assault. Which in turn would take away the power that these accusers have.

I just saw a post on r/feminism attributing, in part, the general societal culture that creates an environment where men can more freely sexually harass women. Could I not make the same argument that it's possible for the #MeToo movement and prevailing social trends to create an environment that might be conducive to maliciously false accusations made by women against men?
