It's a smart move. This will be a war, whether you want to admit it now - or not. She will stab you in the back as soon as you aren't looking. Women are incredibly cold and emotional in divorce.

My TRO worked out very well & I'm in a much stronger position because of it. Get into business mode now, she will likely not be able to do that because she is making decisions based on how she feels. Be smart and get the upper hand now while you still can. Before you know it, she will be falsely claiming you abused her to take advantage of a broken system. Man up.

How much money are you paying that lawyer just to ignore or second guess them? File the TRO, they know what they are doing.

You're divorcing her,she hates you, and her future income is dependent on how much money she can trick the court into taking from you and giving to her. If she has no life skills that can produce an equivalent lifestyle as she she had with you then you're a prime candidate for a TRO or DV allegations. The question is, is she the type of person who would be willing to do that, especially if she thinks the negative consequences to her will be minimal (which they are )?

If your attorney is advising a TRO, it's for a very good reason.

You need to understand that women have the upper hand in divorce. They will use any and all unscrupulous tactics, including lying through their teeth and making up scandalous accusations about "abuse", to get their desired outcome.

So stop thinking you know the legal process better than your attorney does.

Get the TRO. Them bitches play DIRTY! I was the victim of a frivolous one. Shit sucked but I'm way passed that now.

The person you married is not the same one you are divorcing. Chances are if she's talking to a lawyer now, I bet you anything, her lawyer adviced her already of getting a TRO on you.

When you file, you are in a battle. You can be civil, but still not take any prisoners.

You may not want it, but when it hits the fan, it's going to get everyone dirty.

You are fighting for your future and the future of your children. Fight for every minute with them. Fight for every resource you have to support and care for them.

I wouldn't be necessarily against the strategy as sort of a preemptive TRO to take the wind out of her TRO sails, but I'd want to know a lot more about it.

Having been on the receiving end of a TRO for absolutely no reason other than a legal tactic, I'd advise against it. There's absolutely no history of violence in my household, and the TRO was denied, but it was just deeply disheartening she would stoop so low.

Anyone can try for a TRO at any time. My stbx dropped six TROs on me and started the divorce war. Unwise imho unless there’s a real reason to do it. In the end (April trial) she looks like the aggressor party.

My wife started sleeping with her abusive ex who constantly use to false report on her and encouraged her to do the same. She did it. Heck she even got our 19 year old daughter to lie through her teeth and say I pushed her. If your lawyer thinks your wife is capable of behaving this way, I hate to say it but you have to act first. I am in the process of spending tens of thousands and jumping through hoops to be able to get my children away from her abusive ex who it is just a matter of time before he starts hurting them.

Get the TRO. Don’t think that she won’t do it. File first and move on her fast. It sounds harsh, but take the preemptive strike. This will set you in a better position to get what you want. If you don’t, you will be playing defense the entire time. If they do it so easily, we/men should do it just as easy. Good luck brother!
