If you replace "black people" with "men", this instantly becomes a racist post. How exactly does this get so many upvotes, so many comments? How does no one see this for what it is: sexism?
Because the sentiment is about sexual assault? I do understand the sentiment and intention here, and I do sympathize with women feeling scared they'll be sexually assaulted. But for God's sake, the cognitive dissonance in the wording of this post is unbelievable.

Like how you can't be racist against whites, you cannot be sexist against men in their eyes.
Had a lengthy comment chain a while ago about racism in the modern era. They simply cannot fathom that denying a job because of skin color is racist, even if that color is white.
[–]Reptilian_Brain_420 39 points40 points41 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This.
You redefine the terms in such a way that it supports your argument. Get those terms into schools and eventually the people who graduate from those schools have internalized them to the point that they actually make sense (to them).

If they weren't disengenuous yet still had this same bigoted mindset, black and other minority men would be a twofer hazard instead of being better than their white counterparts. Imagine feminist white supremacists.

If that racism is being used to balance the scales of pre-existing racism, then yes it would be unfair to call it racism. For example, if a police sniper shoots a terrorist who is gunning down children, the police sniper isn't really being violent in this situation.
[–]Daswhalegod 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
If that racism is being used to balance the scales of pre-existing racism, then yes it would be unfair to call it racism.
Racism is racism. Full stop, no argument. A person getting denied a job because of skin color is absolutely unacceptable in any context. Come up with an argument against that statement, I dare you.
For example, if a police sniper shoots a terrorist who is gunning down children, the police sniper isn't really being violent in this situation.
Strawman. Nothing to do with the argument, nor is relative to the conversation.
Also, disagree. The sniper in your strawman is being violent, but it would be justified violence. Big difference.
Edit: two wrongs don't make a right. Racism against the racists doesn't make it right.
[–]Tornadog01 -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Semantics aside, you appear to accept that violence can be used to combat violence. Why can't the same apply to racism?
[–]Daswhalegod 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Judging someone on actions isn't the same as judging on skin color. Not hard.
You chose to commit violent actions, you do NOT choose skin color. Big difference.
Judging on actions is appropriate. Judging on skin color is never appropriate.

Racism is a choice as well. White America has chosen to be racist. This has created racial imbalances. Can we not deploy racism as a solution?
[–]Daswhalegod 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Racism is bad. In any form.
Wanna back that up with some data? Edit: back up your claims with data.* That's why millionaires are only of one race, and the most famous person is white(wait, they aren't)
Sure, you could argue that the prison population is biased in one demographic, but also the murder rate is higher for the that demographic. The more violent crime a democratic commits, the higher their representation in the prison population. It's just statistics.
Can we not deploy racism as a solution?
No. Are you actually retarded? For example, say one demographic has a way higher violent crime rate(which exists), can you judge the ENTIRE POPULATION of that demographic by that subset? Obviously not, nor would it be morally just to.
[–]Tornadog01 -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
Ah so then you are not disagreeing with my argument, you are simply doubting my premise.
Meaning: if White America made the choice to be racist, and this has caused racial imbalances then you would agree that racism can be used as a solution.
But since you don't believe this to be the case, using racism to solve the problem is not justified.
Therefore you do agree with me that (much like using violence to solve violence) using racism to fight racism is fine. Just as long as you prove the first instance of racism does indeed exist.
Do I have that correct?
Eg: If Jews in Nazi Germany are being systematically persecuted, it would be ok for another country to grant special emergency visas to any Jew wishing to flee to their country. Racist because it discriminates against people who are not ethnic Jews, but is being used as a tool to combat greater racism (antisemitism) in Nazi Germany.

The analogy between men and Jews is better than the analogy with black people. Because Jews are discriminated against for their perceived privilege. To clarify: idiots think jews hold all the power (like in in Hollywood and financial institutions) AND idiots think men hold all the power.
The argument that "you can't be racist against someone with power" falls apart with Jews because people are racist against Jews for exactly that: for (allegedly) holding power.

You don't need to feel one thing for women scared they'll be sexually assaulted. Control of their emotions is on them. And this is a softball post. You knew last week when this post came out and it was removed that it was sexist. So why wait a week and ask a totally not "genuine" question as if it is genuine? LOL. Karma whoring at its finest.

I'm a man, and I'm more cautious around men than women. I don't know the stats, but I assume that men are more likely to victimize a stranger on the street so I'm more cautious.
I don't understand why everyone is upset by that.
I'd be more cautious having drunk sex with a woman than a man. Women are more likely to have a negative reaction to it.
Being cautious around the other gender is not a crime and comparing it to racism is not the same.
[–]MisterRegio 26 points27 points28 points 5 years ago* (26 children) | Copy Link
It IS the same. If you listened to the "right's statistics" on crime, you would see that Black communities have more crime. Now, I don't know if this is true or not, but they use it as an excuse to be "more cautious" around Black people, enableing their racism.

there is little difference physically and hormonally between a black person and a white person. as a woman who is already small compared to other women, there is close to 0% chance that a man would be unable to physically overpower me. we should note that the fear we are talking about is rape/sexual assault. men have around 20 times more testosterone than women, a hormone that contributes to men having a much higher libido. not to mention most women are not even attracted to other women. so of course i would be more fearful of being sexually assaulted by someone who likely has a higher sex drive and a much higher probability of being sexually attracted to me. your comparison of black/white people here makes no sense.
[–]LettuceBeGrateful 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Regardless of the physical differences you cite, both men and African-Americans are overrepresented within violent and sex crime statistics. You're nitpicking biological facts here to avoid the reality that a person from either group is statistically more likely to harm you.
They're both bigotry, plain and simple.
[–]ShortTailBoa 12 points13 points14 points 5 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link
This is litterally eugenics.
Using science to say men are more likely to commit crime is no different from using science to say blacks are more likely to commit crimes.
Seriously, open up a history book and read about how black people were treated in the Jim Crow era. Your post reads like something George Wallace would say.
[–]Metrodomes -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
This really isn't eugenics. The idea that a man is generally physically stronger than a woman is common sense. The idea that a man has more testosterone is common sense. I dunno how much that affects behaviours but you're completely missing the very basic points about why men would and should be concerned of other men more than women.
[–]LettuceBeGrateful 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Your comment is a perfect example of why it is bigotry.
You say "it's just a biological fact," which is irrelevant. I could say "black people have darker skin, it's just a fact." That wouldn't necessarily change whether someone is statistically likely to harm you. Both men and black people are overrepresented in terms of crime. Decrying one while embracing the other is hypocritically justifying bigotry.
[–]Metrodomes -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
They said they're more worried about men than women due to physical concerns. I stated that men tend to be physically stronger than women. That is a biological fact that men tend to be stronger than women. And if they're worried about physical issues, then my comment is perfectly relevant and uncontroversial.
If a man said "I'm more nervous when walking near a woman" in terms of physical threats, then that should be questioned due to human biology. Maybe they can justify it, but common sense and science says men tend to be stronger than women.
I could say "black people have darker skin, it's just a fact." That wouldn't necessarily change whether someone is statistically likely to harm you.
Not sure what your point here is. Yes, black people tend to be darker in skin colour than white people. And yes, they're overrepresented in various statistics for complex socio-economic reasons, not because of the colour of the skin.
If you're trying to equate it with men, then I really need you to explain how men have been historically and are currently oppressed in a way that is akin to black people. I don't follow your logic with the analogy. Until you do that, you're just making random analogies which don't work.
As for saying 'men are biologically x therefore they are more likely to do y', I never said that. Not sure why you assume I am but okay. I clearly said I don't know about that. And I therefore focused only on the fact that the person I'm backing up said "as a man, I'm more afraid of men due to physical reasons". And I focused on the point that men tend to be stronger than women, and backed that one up more.
Both men and black people are overrepresented in terms of crime.
Again, weird analogy. Need you to explain how half the population in, say, the US, is akin to black people. Fairly sure white men weren't enslaved, or recieved human rights far later than the rest of the population, or weren't able to be involved in making the laws of the land, or currently face incredible amounts of state violence against them, etc. Comparing the rights of men (or the lack of them) to black people's, is a pretty weird take.
If men are statistically overrepresented in crime, then we need to look into why that is. Personally I believe that it's due to capitalism. Men are forced to the be the breadwinners because we didn't want women in the workplace. Men are forced to go to war and die for oil or riches, and we kept women at home and didn't give them the right to go to war for various reasons in favour of the state and men. Men have historically been overrepresented in creating our society at every step of the way, so if men feel sidelined now we should be looking to the men at power who created this society. If men are violent than women, then we need to look at why men aren't holding each other responsible. Biology absolutely plays a role in male physical violence against women, and to deny this would be silly, but we have to look at the structural reasons as to why this is the case.
[–]sweatyapplejuice -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
since when does science suggest black people are more likely to commit crimes? please show me where you got that from.
it's nurture vs nature. a black man if raised in the exact same environment as a white man is no more likely to commit a crime. on the other hand, no matter what environment a man and a woman are from-- no matter what race the man and woman are-- poor, rich, whatever. across time, geographical location, culture, religion, etc, we've always seen the trend that men are more likely to commit violence, and overwhelmingly more likely to rape (the latter probably being as a result of a higher libido which, again, is a fact). comparing black vs white and man vs woman as if disparities between races are similar to disparities between gender is just ridiculous.
if you were alone in the break-room with a female coworker, how afraid would you be that if you made the wrong move you'd end up accused of sexual assault and lose your job, as so many men have experienced? now, if you were alone in the break-room with a male coworker, would you have the same fear?
[–]RockmanXX 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Only 1% of men actually commit crimes, fearing 99% Is just paranoia.
[–]ButReallyFolks 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think this is the most important counter to the original woman's statement. Data is so much more powerful than a story about ticks, and when we see that story out making the rounds - because it is - we need to counter it with this fact. Collectively. Imagine seeing a comment section with this fact repeated. If it is there enough, people will have to see it and consider it. Even the naysayers will have to look it up to try to debunk it, and be met with the truth.
[–]sweatyapplejuice -2 points-1 points0 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
maybe this 1% is the only relevant statistic to you if protecting the reputation of your gender is the only goal. but to me, the 1% seems off when a considerable proportion of women I've personally known (including immediate family) have been raped themselves, and not a single one of them convicted their rapist. i myself am only now pressing charges against my molester from when i was a child. if you want to raise awareness for the falsley accused, you should want to raise awareness for the rapists who never faced charges. telling women that their fear of rape is just "paranoia" is very indicative of how different our worlds are.
just how you should understand why women are told not to wear revealing clothing out alone at night in order to protect themselves from that 1%, it shouldn't be hard to understand why we would want to be more cautious on our own terms as well.

That was the argument I made when this was posted in cartoon form by vulgadrawings on Instagram. What's sad is there's still a part of me who tries to believe in the goodness in people.
I took in two homeless people off Cl a couple years ago because they had jobs and I was really struggling financially and needed the help.
One worked hard and really turned herself around.
The other I thought I could trust because he was military and I figured he'd be honorable and disciplined and he made more money than I did.
That went so poorly he left me owing thousands in rent due to not holding up his side of the bargain, ate more than half the food I bought--largely on food stamps, mind you--and ultimately wasn't even much of a friend.
I'm not as generous as I used to be but I still try to take people on an individualistic basis.

I believe only a very small percentage of male population commits the sexual assaults? And many are repeat offenders. Majority of males are our protectors. Most of them dream to be the Batman I guess.
I don’t think men as ticks. I think they are lovely superhero wannabes. You give them a chance to help you, protect you and you give them appreciation in return, they are happy as birds.
Men are lovely. ❤️

So rape is a disease, and men are the only carriers. Now that you say it that way, that doesn’t sound sexist at all!
Because the narrative today is "all men are evil and all women are angels sent from heaven above" and no one is brave enough to call bullshit out when it's there other than men's help channels on YouTube such as Donovan Sharpe, Better Bachelor, Kevin Samuels, and others.

The definition of an sexism has changed. Well, any -ism for that matter. If you're perceived to be in a worse position than those you're targeting , you're not [insert your -ist here]. It's why these kinds of people cannot see their own hypocrisy. They've shifted the goal posts to be right where they want to.
So portray yourself truthfully or not as the victim and under the new definition you're automatically not [insert your -ist].
Note - I have boiled it down, but the gist is there. I'm not agreeing with any of this, it's just the way it is now.

Is this in reference to someone specific or a certain event? I'm active duty and I can guarantee that most of the people I've served with would not say they fight for women in general, let alone these women. Prison rapes are man on man, and are all locked together. The free world were humans aren't shoved together snd treated like shit, women are more at risk for being raped in the free world for just existing. Men are mostly attacked by other men, women are mostly attacked by men.

[–]That1Freak 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]myspacetrash 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not exactly equally but there is pretty much nothing you can put into place to fix that without interfering on the rights of one another. You either have equal outcomes or equal opportunity they are mutually exclusive.
[–]That1Freak -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I see many ways in which we can help this issue. Men are often taught growing up to keep asking till she says yes, bad or inappropriate behavior is excused as "boys will be boys," women are taught they must respect men and do what they can to cater to men, but that's not shown to women at all, men are more likely to side with other men. By changing the ways men are raised, and the bias is erased, I'm pretty sure the levels or murders and rapes will go down. Crimes are committed by every gender but the majority are committed by men, and it's no wonder as to why. Men are taught it's okay because they're men. You touched a girl without consent, oh it's okay, boys will be boys she should've covered up. Oh he hit you it's only right that you hit him back rather than trying to calm the situation.
[–]myspacetrash 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
When have you ever seen men be taught no means yes, every single person I know was taught that they should be loving husbands who respect their spouses from a very early age and the “boys will be boys” saying comes when you horseplay and someone gets a minor injury. The majority of crimes are committed by men but the same men who in our society today are put through the wringer by knowingly false rape accusations, Prince Charming standards, and over all discrimination by the modern feminist. There was a conference about male issues in America like the suicide rate being four times higher than females and there was another that was for women issues in America, could you guess which one was ultimately protested and shut down. We don’t need to change how the men are raised, except for the few that actually are raised like this, we need to change society to really be equal which means losing equal outcomes. I forgot to mention that men are predisposed to crime just because of biology but that isn’t a reason anyone should commit a crime, it’s just a thing to add to the melting pot that is the reason someone commits a crime.
[–]ApprehensiveMail8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's weird. Because I can tell you exactly which specific group of women is problematic.
[–]My_G_Zaha -4 points-3 points-2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
1 in 6 women sexually abused. Kinda different to 97%
Funny how she used that 98% stat,, ironically really close the the percent of people raised by a women.
It never, ever dawns on them that treating boys better produce better men. Most males who do commit crimes, all crimes, are raised by a single mother. It's almost as if the male issues we keep trying to bring up would actually produce better men.
"We need to teach boys XYZ" always ends there, they never will mention who the teacher actually is, because they know it all starts with them. I mean they put up the fight to take men out of the picture of parenthood.
When you have a major problem, you need to asses from the genesis of the issue, not the middle. Feminism only looks at the middle, they never look at the beginning root problem, which is and has always been known bad childhood can spawn bad people.

It's not sexism. It's not an attack on all men. They're valid for feeling and thinking that way. They're simply saying that they avoid all men because they don't want to risk getting hurt. They're not taking away your rights by avoiding you.
They're valid for feeling and thinking that way.
Big difference between feeling one way and trying to get laws, rules and regulations made based off such a wide and blanket statement.
[–]evenmoremeancomments 16 points17 points18 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

[–]ThrowMeAway666x -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Nope that's perfectly valid. Women do falsely accuse men of rape for their own benefit, for their own reputation with no regard for the man's life. Avoid women all you want. That doesn't make you misogynistic or sexist. Just like women have to prove to you they have no ill intentions, women have the right to keep their distance until they're sure about the guys intentions as well.

Cool. Apply the same logic to all demographics. I should be fine to avoid all Muslims because some fraction of them might blow me up, acid attack me, or behead me... right?
[+]ThrowMeAway666x -8 points-7 points-6 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Avoiding muslims is not racist. Muslim is not a race. It's a religion. Avoiding people from a certain religion is not racist. If their religion is a factor in their actions, or a large portion of their members are violent, avoiding them as a whole is fine. It becomes an issue when you're calling for everyone in that religion to be sent to death, or fired, or confined to certain areas of cities... I don't think women avoiding men for their own safety is at all harmful to men. They're not personally attacking you as a person.
[–]Daswhalegod 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
I think we can take that logic a bit further. If we consider all extreme forms of religion we can make a good case against all religions.
You want to practice your religion? Go ahead. You want to commit violence in the name of your religion, then that's a problem.
It's funny that feminists defend Islam so much, when the actual religious beliefs are absolutely antithetical to their beliefs.
[+]ThrowMeAway666x -10 points-9 points-8 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
This isn't about religion though. It's about how there are dangerous men that don't understand consent. And other men defend them by saying "they're just being boys" "it's not all men". The issue is men don't hold other men accountable simply because they aren't personally doing those actions. And when women bring up the violence, they're shut down by those statements. Just like the members in those extreme religions deny the violence others are doing because it's not the individual doing it themselves. The denial of the actions of others is the issue.
[–]Daswhalegod 9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
And other men defend them by saying "they're just being boys"
Pretty sure if you ask any man, they won't say that.
The issue is men don't hold other men accountable simply because they aren't personally doing those actions
That's what the court is for. False charges also do happen, however.
Personally, if I saw something happening around me, I would (and have) stepped in. Most men would. Vilifing the entire population for a small subset, which baised on 2018 rape statistics is somewhere less than 1%, is inappropriate.
On the counter, Islamic beliefs contradict most of western values, and as such the personal choice of that religion can be a point of criticism.
You can change religions, you cannot change your sex.(well, sorta, but not really.)
[+]ThrowMeAway666x -6 points-5 points-4 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I'm sure the number is way higher than 1%. Most men don't even know what consent is. Sure don't keep going if she says no. But there's way more to it than that. Sharing private photos, for example is a violation of consent. Sending photos of private parts when you're not asking first is a violation of consent. Asking her out after she said no, especially pleading and asking why not... Is a violation of consent. No means no but also silence means no, I have a boyfriend means no, I don't want to see that means no. Not saying that you don't know this, but a lot of men don't. Also women don't like being catcalled, calling a woman beautiful without her asking how she looks can be creepy and weird and give off rapey vibes. So sending a "hey beautiful" or anything similar on dating apps is a sure way to get called a creep. Your intentions may be great but you also have to factor in how you're being perceived by the person you're trying to talk to.
Being an ally to both sides of the issue is essential in finding common ground. Pointing fingers isn't helping anything.
[–]MrPernicious 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lmfao. Maybe your beliefs and your friends actions have given you a false impression of society.

[–]Skeith154 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So your advocating that 50% of the population live in abject fear of the other 50% of the population, due to 1% or less of the male half being potentially dangerous. that's encouraging Sexism.
Alright, then Women dont get Kids. Statistics show it's overwhelmingly women who harm Children. We dont know which women, of course, will harm a child, so none of them get children.
Oh and women are just as capable of Harming men, and with how society works in the west, Women can freely attack men in public (THere are quite a few videos showing this) so Women need to keep a safe distance from men and children at all times. they are violent unpredictable creatures prone to emotional outbursts. It's the only way for men and Children to feel safer. We can't tell the bad ones so all of them will just have to give up their kids and stay away from men, lest one of them snaps like a twig and hurts someone.
Oh, and lets not forget, that women are much higher in the domestic violence ring, when their lesbians. So we also need to keep gay women away from other women, cause we dont know which gay women are going to be violent to their partners. best just stop that nonsense entirely.
you see the problem there Choomba?
As for "Consent" the definition of Consent changes on a such a regular basis that it's almost worthless even listening too. Especially with how women can seemingly revoke their 'consent' the next morning and claim rape or cause other lasting harm. the leftist types keep changing the goal posts cause they dont have a clear definition of what their consent is. However the moment something happens they think violates their vague rules then it's "You didn't ask my consent". Most men know very well what consent is, and that basic definition should be enough, but People keep trying to change the rules. thats why you think most Men dont even know what Consent is. I dont think you know what Consent actually means these days.
[–]MBV-09-C 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Buddy, we know what consent is, the problem is a good number of women don't and those that don't end up making false accusations that broke most of the trust between us. We get that No means no, but when we take No as no, we occasionally get "why didn't you try harder?" "Why didn't you fight for me?" etc. We even try to say no ourselves sometimes and a fair amount of women don't take it well at all because THEY were never taught how to deal with rejection, you can ask around here, I know that some of the men here have been in that exact situation and then somehow managed to get accused of rape ...for saying no to sex. The sooner the TwoX crowd and similar realize they're just a big a part of this mess and they think the men are, the sooner we can hopefully find a way to fix it.

It is demographic prejudice due to deliberate false narratives designed to incite hysteria and panic. The same methods have been used successfully throughout history in order to control societies e.g. Spanish Inquisition, French Revolution, witch hunts, anti-black hysteria, McCarthyism, Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany...etc.
Those living through the above examples and similar ages of deliberately designed fear-mongering made the choice too - they either accepted the prejudices, supporting and perpetuating them as was expected and encouraged or they refused to support what they knew to be incredibly harmful falsehoods despite the risk of danger to themselves.
Repeating the falsehood that some women are validated in their purported constant fear of men is indeed harmful, it is harmful to make other women believe there is a need to live in fear, it is harmful to encourage the widespread belief that a whole section of society should be viewed with suspicion based on gender, it is harmful because it creates division within societies, it is harmful because it is affecting the mental health of men and women, feeling you are constantly suspected of being a ‘bad’ person or a victim creates paranoia, withdrawal and inhibits freedom...etc. Genuine victims are overlooked in the tumult of accusations. It also has the damaging effect of creating ‘panic’ reactionary legal implications e.g. erosion of rights including reactionary arrests of innocents in order to appease public, execution of innocents e.g. during the inquisition, French Revolution, witch hunts, lynchings of black men wrongly accused...etc.
These are just a small snippet of reasons that such erroneous beliefs and behaviour are incredibly harmful, no doubt those that cheered on the hanging of ‘witches’ or the ‘just lynchings’ of black men or the gassing of ‘dangerous ‘ Jews felt their fears and reactionary behaviours were justified too, history has taught us that prejudice of any kind can never be justified or validated, 20, 30, 40 years in the future, people will be horrified at the calls to ‘Kill all men’, ‘Men are trash’ ‘Male curfew’, that people are judged guilty on a mere accusation, that innocents lose their livelihood, freedom and in some cases, lives, just as we are of similar behaviours in the past.
Unless such prejudices are challenged and eradicated, history has shown us they are in danger of growing in magnitude and posing a threat to us all.

Unfortunately, I don't agree with the idea that we, as debaters of such topics, get to pick and choose whether we're discussing discrimination based on power structures or individual act.
Also, it does absolutely feel like an attack on "all men". The entire post could be summed up to: "It's not all men, I recognize that, but I've got to pretend like it is."
Did you directly and specifically ask any or all of "them" if they had avoided and/or not established any platonic, romantic, sexual or any form of non-essential social relationship with a man during their adolescence and/or adulthood, since they were so apprehensive about getting hurt? If yes, do consider sharing the details and if otherwise, simply go ahead and f*ck off!

I'd actually agree with this and like I mentioned in my comment, I sympathize with the attitude of the post.
However, I think the way it's worded will (and did) bring out sexist emotions in some people (commenters). Like I also mentioned in my comment, per contemporary standards in regards to social-political discussion (which are not explicitly mentioned in the post), this post fully displays rampant cognitive dissonance, in my opinion.
Going deeper: ultimately, I find it distasteful (however justified) because a brief look at history will tell you the entirety of the woes and consequences identity politics seeks to remedy occurred in part because of ideas like these being spread.

is this not the same as when men say they are afraid to talk to their female co-workers because they might be falsely accused of sexual assault? "we know it's not all women, but we don't know which women", so you are cautious?
i'm sorry you think it is sexist of me to be fearful when i walk past a man in the middle of the night. but statistically speaking, if i DID run into a rapist, there is a 98.5% chance he would be male. men are also stronger and larger than me, and their higher libidos and testosterone make them more likely to want sex to the point of forcing it on to someone. not all men, but more likely to be men. just how you are not cautious around your male coworkers out of fear they might falsely accuse you of sexual assault, i am not cautious around my female coworkers out of fear they might sexually assault me.

Funny how you and those with your mind set will hard focus on the big percent number of men as perps, but you never mention that 98% number is made up of like just a very tiny percent of men (literally less than 2%). Which is exactly why this conversation, which you want to make sure you go out of your way to do the "men bad" thing.
Men are saying hey, 98% + of us are good, stop with the blanket statement, and your argument is basically "well, we know it's very few of you, but bad people are men"
It's like the whole "teach men to _____" funny how it's never mentioned over 95% of people are raised by a woman.
Are you getting the theme here? Treat boys better, produce better men. Women fought ot fuck men over with kids. The ball is in the women's court, if you want better men, produce them. Telling literal kids they are 98% of the bad in the world.. yeah, young boys who hear nothing but negativity from women, adult women... yeah, they are going to grow up with a wealth of respect for women.
Your whole argument relies on cherry picked stats while ignoring the actual topic of blanket statements.
So here is a stat for you, of the men who commit crimes, especially violent ones, over 80% come from a single mother family. In fact, a father in the home reduces overall violent crimes over 17% and reduces violent crimes against women by over 60% (Per the Heritage foundation). The number one cause for misbehaving male youth is fatherless homes and has been and known for over 100 years. Yet... your ilk will never talk about it.
[–]sweatyapplejuice -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
that 98% number is made up of like just a very tiny percent of men (literally less than 2%)
that's right, i made it clear that it's not all or even most men. it is a tiny percentage. but whether i'll be attacked by a rapist isn't always 2%. for example, if i'm walking alone at night in an empty neighborhood vs in the daytime at a public park. women don't usually say they're cautious ALL the time, rather when they're the most vulnerable.
funny how it's never mentioned over 95% of people are raised by a woman.
don't worry, i'm with you on the topic of fatherless homes. it really is a tragedy how many absent fathers there are all over the world.
The ball is in the women's court
in most cases, the ball was in both the man and woman's court-- until the man left his court.
Telling literal kids they are 98% of the bad in the world
i didn't say that, and i don't know who you've heard say this but i'll happily be on your side if i hear anyone tell a child they are 98% of bad in the world.
In fact, a father in the home reduces overall violent crimes over 17% and reduces violent crimes against women by over 60%
oh i agree. so maybe men should stop leaving their children? there's an insane amount of confounding factors that i don't care to get into, but you do realize that the lack of a father in the home is not the same as having only one parent? the kids have 2 parents. the mother-- may or may not be a piece of shit, we don't know for sure. the father-- guaranteed a piece of shit by definition because any parent who is able to live life normally without being aware of what's going on with his/her children is a piece of shit (assuming he's alive and aware he has children). not to mention, girls in fatherless homes don't end up committing this rate of violence/crime right? im sure they commit higher rates of crime, but not at the level of boys who grow up in fatherless homes, correct? why is that?

one difference is how it is applied: here, this is presumably used to justify women being wary of men and perhaps distrusting. If you (as many comments suggest) replace “men” with “ethnic group” with the purpose being some legislative action like a travel/immigration ban or stricter targeted policing laws, that is a very different situation. that being said, yes this still comes off sexist, and frankly i don’t enjoy being compared to a tick.

I’m not saying it isn’t sexist I’m saying it’s not ment to be sexist it’s just meant to show you what women go through in a daily but in a different situation if you get me

this post has nothing to do with men’s rights and it meant to laugh at women trying to explain why they are afraid of being raped by men

Comparing human beings to insects with brains smaller than a grain of rice. Can you find anything more dehumanising than that?

This is very similar to the argument White nationalists make about African Americans. You know, despite making up only a fraction of the population, in proportion they commit more crimes. In retrospect, this is due to societal issues, and society addresses them. When it comes to men, for some reason, society believes it is all our fault. Imagine if that approach was continued for the previous argument, it would be a complete regression of morals.

I know this goes without saying, but I am a woman and this stupid bitch doesn’t speak for me. This post is sexist 100%. This is the same logic that many bigots use, they judge the majority based on the actions of the minority.

It definitely is but it’s also not incorrect
