There is still a lot going backwards in France. For example, if you are legally married and want to buy a property together, make sure that you do it with a lawyer! In France, the widow only inherits the usufruct or a maximum of 1/4. The rest goes to 1. children, 2. parents and siblings, 3. grandparents and 4. only then! to the widow!
