At least they correctly identify it as a pejorative, what pisses me off is when people who treat men this way basically goad men into by constantly calling them angry and claiming they're angry then they sit their going "Hurrr! Why are white men always so angry?" honestly it's fucking stupid.

I literally had somebody try and pull this shit on me yesterday desperately trying to convince me I was angry in an attempt to annoy me into being angry so I just put the silly cunt on block. When you're dealing with somebody like this, honestly, the best option is to just walk away, these types of people aren't interested in a conversation and just want you to yell that them so they can talk about you to their friends and act like they're brave for standing up to you.

This is my theory, it's incredibly childish, so don't get suckered into that sort of fight with somebody because they'll win if you don't have the patience of a saint.

Simple steps to solve this, if anyone cares enough to do so:

CLEAN STRATEGY (recommended)

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. Edit the page to correctly describe the term as misandrous and racist, with citations. Keep it professional and save a backup copy of the text on your PC. If anyone changes the wikipedia page back to it's misandrous-racist state, just keep changing it back to your version.
If an admin steps in and locks the wikipedia page in it's misandrous-racist state, screenshot it (and the "locked by admin" message) and post it to social media & alternative media outlets, shaming wikipedia for supporting misandry and racism - Add the irony that wikipedia is currently attempting to drum up donations to keep itself afloat. Keep in mind that wikipedia is international and generally it's only in America do you hear people saying "white people can't experience racism" - In the rest of the world (including the English-speaking world that use the English version of wikipedia) all racism is racist.
Either wikipedia will sink into the "go woke, get broke" rut, or they'll fix the page to reflect the true misandrous-racist nature of the term.

DIRTY STRATEGY (not recommended, but fun to think about)

Create a page called "Angry Anti-White Feminist". Copy the exact contents of the AWM page over, and just change all references of race and gender to critique feminists, but always keeping the contents logical and truthful, with citations. Again, save a backup copy of the text on your PC. If anyone changes the wikipedia page, just keep changing it back to your version.

I love that if you put certain info without a source in wikipedia, if the editors there still tend to like the info presented (on this Wikipedia page there’s something about people referring to Trump supporters as angry white males) instead of removing it they just put a source box that says “by whom” or something. But if you had put that the term is racist and sexist in the first paragraph it would’ve been removed even if you had a source.

I'll likely get down voted for this, but I think there are a couple of important things to point out.

First, the sight does say it is a "pejorative" term, so it's not like the page is validating this. And it is an open-source dictionary/encyclopedia, so people are free to change it.

The other thing, and this is what I expect to get push back on, is that men, and white men especially, and heterosexual white men, do have significant degrees of privilege in society. I can say that as a white, heterosexual male because I've experienced it first hand.

On a side note, most of these privileges extend to heterosexual white women as well.

I, for example, have never been stopped at the mall by a security guard and asked to provide receipts for what I have in a bag, or been asked to show my movie ticket on the way out of a theater, or been asked to pay for a meal before I eat. I've had Black friends who are familiar with that experience.

I've never had somebody to tell me to 'go back where I came from' when I express my disagreement with something my government does.

Nobody has ever called me by a gendered pronoun that I don't identify with.

But I have found that there are a great many white, heterosexual men and women who love to complain every Christmas that they can't say "Merry Christmas because people are too politically correct" even though they can and do say "Merry Christmas." For these people, just the thought of being inclusive and saying "Happy holidays" (which mind you, most people used to say back in the 70s and 80s when I was growing up because they didn't want to say "Merry Christmas and happy New Year") is some affront to them. Unsurprisingly, most of these people don't even go to church.

I see people complaining about immigrants and not wanting to have to change for them and saying they should change for us. I don't know any immigrants who are asking people from places like America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to change for them, just that their own religious freedoms are respected.

And yet, so many white people seem to get angry about these things. They mock people from the LGBTQ+ community. They mock young people who fight for climate change. They mock inclusive language.

And why?

So yes... "The angry white man" is a phenomenon. And it is often "The angry older white heterosexual man" and a a great many "angry, often but not always older white heterosexual woman." And some times lesbian and gay folks. And sometimes members of racialized groups, but always people who identify with or want to identify with the dominant culture.

Does the term "angry white man" come across as racist and sexist? Sure. But it isn't referring to all white men. It's referring to white men who behave a certain way.

And yes, the term is limited because I Black men and women who engage in the same rhetoric.

But it doesn't change the fact that this is a legit phenomenon.

Just like the angry feminist who dismisses men and refuses to recognize the pain, danger, and social challenges that men encounter, or the trauma they have faced.

In short, the term is flawed, yes, but it is speaking to a legit concern that has permeated our political discourses.

Here’s the thing: you guys are angry - see: suicides, shootings, etc. But only because anger is the only emotion guys are left to feel. What many men really are these days is sad, but given male stereotypes (especially White male stereotypes) men contort that sadness and confusion into anger.

This article is right to call it out as a phenomenon, and rather that being so reactionary, you should use it as an opportunity to explain why white men need help too.
