Rhetoric like this is churned put by the ruling class, because:

It's the "sexy" narrative in current year
It furthers detraction from the ACTUAL reason our politicians do not represent the common person(too many men ... not too many capitalists)
It posits a solution for all the world's ills that is achievable, but WILL NOT actually fix the problems - these probelms are after all a feature to our overlords, not a bug. (More women in politics, the right kind of women and definitely NOT more socialist egalitarians)
You're not allowed to criticize the slogan without being crucified by easily put forth strawman arguments

If we are to be truly equal then gender shouldn’t matter.

Just ask my city mayor. Lightfoot meets most of the requirements in terms of diversity (black gay woman) and she’s horrible. Companies are leaving the city and people have been calling her bluff. The corruption never ends if you pick people for positions based off external things like aesthetics and not internal things like actions and principles.

I have a theory that’s secretly the reason directors keep filming Gotham City here.

I forgot to add to my original post, but I honestly worry for gullible and impressionable girls and young women who see this. Thinking men and boys can't be trusted and aren't good by default, and not giving good men and boys a chance. Growing up thinking men and boys are out to get them and deprive them of their rights, when this couldn't be farther from the truth. This is nothing but divisive BS meant to make men and women enemies of one another during a time they need to have one another's backs.

I saw same kind of news also during pandemic, countries run by women are not affected by COVID.' and they were talking about only two small countries I think Ireland and one another European country and glorifying it but then later after two days these two countries also got lockdown and started to show the cases. 😂 Example of 'Women Are Wonderful' effect.

I, for one, will be glad for whoever can save democracy.

Women - hurry up and save it! Hold leaders accountable for corruption. Advocate for things like voting holidays. Campaign against people losing their right to vote over victimless crimes that just happen to be labeled as "felonies" which have nothing to do with voting rights. Volunteer and get the word out on good candidates.

I'm half-joking of course. I know that it's a silly headline, and women aren't going to "save democracy" any more than men will. After all - women aren't some monolith, as much as some like to pretend that they are, and this applies even to deeply personal issues to women like abortion.

As you say - Democracy will be saved by good and honest people.

Of course I would argue that it has to be saved by grass-roots organization and reform. People need to get good politicians elected from a low and local level, so that we can get the power built up to eventually be able to put those same people into larger and more important offices.

Yeah, it's a common CLAIM that gender is super-important politically. But usually it's dwarfed by other demographic factors.

As an example -- it's true that men were a bit more likely than women to vote for Trump, but it's also true that while a majority of white women voted for Trump, over 80% of black men (and an even higher fraction of black women) voted for Biden.

So race matters a whole lot MORE than gender does; and yet it's very easy to find people who want to blame it all on men.

The same thing applies to abortion. Claims that it's about men wanting to control women are common, but reality is that the gender-gap in support for abortion is only approximately 4%, while for example the gap between the religiously unaffiliated and evangelical Christians is about 70%.

In most political issues, gender isn't particularly important as a demographic factor in voting-patterns. There's usually SOME difference, but other factors like race, age, religion or social class usually dominate.

I think it's one of those "if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" things.

A baffling response I heard multiple times is: those women got there by behaving like men, otherwise they wouldn't succeed in a male-dominated environment.

Which implies that only honest and competent women are really representative of how the world would be like if women were in charge.

Which is hair-raising idiocy.

How can you support the hypotesis "women make better leaders then men" if you decide which data count and which do not based on them fitting the hypotesis in the first place?

I'm open minded btw. Maybe it's true that women make better leaders than men.

I just don't give it much credence currently, since there are real-world examples which clearly contradict it, and I don't think there's any sensible reason why we should ignore them, considering also that most people (of both sexes) privately understands that women can be as egoistical and unscrupulous as men.
