For anyone feeling jealous, I'd encourage them to try it out for themself. Anyone of age is allowed to make porn of themself. If that's seems too distasteful for you... well then, there you go, you're like someone jealous of the kid who makes five dollars for eating a worm.
If it all seems fine to you, and you make it as far as actually engaging with an audience, then I think that'll temper your jealously just as quickly. Or anyway you'll be jealous for different reasons, with a newfound respect for what a weird grind it is to put on a sex show.

Also, the average monthly income from OF is only 180$. Most people aren't making enough on there for a "lifestyle" these guys want... it's about control. These men do not like it that men will pay women for sexual activities and that women will charge for it. They get angry at any type of power given to women. If these women weren't getting paid, they wouldn't care.... also these men are super jealous of these women's ability to earn a living by just existing and doing something they wish they could do.

There's still a lot of exploitation. I think it's hypocritical to condemn women for having an OnlyFans while at the same time consuming porn. Very few don't look at it at least on occasion.

It certainly isn't a career I'd want for any family member, but I suppose in the end, it's their choice.

I wouldn't be with a woman who does OF, but I will not judge her negatively, nor abuse her. I also wouldn't want my relatives or friends on it either, but if they decide to do it, big deal. I'll get over it eventually.

My general thoughts on the platform? I'm glad it's not exploitive. I hear OF takes 20% of your revenue, which is very fair compared to YouTube ad revenue, which takes 55%.

Ultimately, I still think porn is a negative to both consumers and producers.

I have a different view of OF than other forms of SW- like stripping.

The internet is forever. Putting your nude images online is a bad idea. You'll only be able to profit off your body for a period of time, after that you'll need to figure something else out. Having a documented past of SW can be a liability and dealbreaker to getting into certain industries/professions.
OF is literally a pyramid scheme. Girls can share their codes and when people sign up with their code, they get a percentage of all profits from those girls. There is an incentive for OF girls to try and sell the lifestyle to others so they sign up using their affiliate code and then profit off of other girls indefinitely. It's messed up imo because there is an incentive to deceptively frame OF to other women to try and get a portion of their profits. There was that girl who lied about buying a house after 3 months of OF and was encouraging people to sign up with her link, so she could profit off of them.
The average OF girl makes a couple hundred bucks a month. When you have your nude images shared online for a couple hundred, is that really worth the tradeoff? I don't think so. It's not like discreetly dancing in some club where phones are banned and the odds of people capturing and sharing images of you are much lower. The internet is forever, and people seem to forget that.
There is so much OF regret but many treat it/frame it as an easy low-risk side hustle. Thousands of women made OF accounts during Covid thinking they'd be able to supplement their income and make thousands of dollars. That didn't pan out for the vast majority. And now they have to contend with the fact that people have nude images of them, their SW career didn't take off, and they made themselves really vulnerable for a couple hundred bucks. A lot of OF content gets leaked onto porn sites and not taken down. I don't think a lot of the women who sign up for OF really grasp the implications. So I'm largely anti-OF because it's a pyramid scheme and is framed in a really deceptive way. Even though it has the perk of being a WFH job that's safe since you don't have direct contact with your clients, the downsides way outnumber the pros.

I'd say unless you're already a SW and that's how you make a living, getting an OF as an average woman is not worth the tradeoffs. Like you, I think people should have the freedom to make their own choices. Including stupid choices that could screw them over long term.

Sex work has always existed. Onlyfans has the advantage that it puts sex workers more in control of their own business than other sex work outlets in history, but ultimately, most sex workers aren’t in the business because they like it. They’re in it because using what they have to make money is what works for them. I don’t think this makes them bad people, but it does make their situation kind of sad.

I also don’t think that the people who condemn them are actually concerned about their children being bullied at school. I think the real issue is that they want women who sell sex to give it to them for free. They’re angry that women get to control who has access to their bodies.

By and large women can only sell sex because men choose to engage in transactional interactions with women.

Interesting thing is as women get more liberated we can see some women also become buyers, engaging in sex tourism even.

I don't really think about it much. If my life had taken a different course I could see either being with someone with an OF, being with someone who didn't, or being alone, none of which would really be so determinative of what that life course would be like outside of that specific detail that I would feel like I would need to think it to death what specifically the existence of OF would mean about this possible life course. If I did it would feel to me like I was avoiding thinking about other things that might be more in my control.

Whatever it is that I think about this, I would want for my own stances to at least be able to take some account of what people think about it who have spent more time thinking about it than I ever will. The consensus there seems to be that the evidence is not so clear cut that "addiction" is the right category, that nevertheless it can be problematic but that that has more to do with what it means in the context of a specific relationship, or guilt or shame felt by an individual person about it, than that it's across the board a good or bad thing.

All that said, if a voyeuristic approach to sexuality - as might be a fair description of what might point a lot of people towards hosting an OF - really bothers you, you do have the freedom to try to seek out people who feel similarly about it as you do. Then there's a whole other set of problems you might have to face with what stops you from trusting people who say they actually have the same attitude you do, or what to do if that trust ends up broken. You can probably guarantee to yourself never to have to face that issue by never taking a chance on it though.

I know a couple people where it didn't work out. A year of content and the both made from $100 - $300 a month. Subs would hit, then drop, sometimes they would come back after a few months.
I also know a girl who's doing pretty well. Not like buy a house and retire well, but pay all the bills with some leftover every month.
I figure it's a decent side hustle for most. For some, its a good financial opportunity.

I am not a fan. I don't think sex work elevates anyone involved in it from consumer to provider. I would not want anyone I care about to engage in sex work. Exploitation is a feature, not a bug. I do not view pornography anymore for this reason.

With that being said, sex work is work and workers deserve rights and protections.

Uber-prostitution. The same "be your own boss" nonsense, now in this case it's more like "be your own pimp". A system designed to exploit the vulnerable and the unpriviliged.

As for the women who do this kind of work, I really don't care. I don't care about what each person does for a living as long as they aren't criminals. Also, I don't see how I would benefit from judging. It's a real thing, but it's taken way out of proportion. Reallity is nothing like movements like NoFap and Figth the New Drug want to make it seem. They have to much of a broad concept of what having an addiction mean. Having a repetitive, compulsive behavior that you struggle to control is not an addiction, for it to be an addiction it must be causing some actual problem in your life. Porn consumption definitely has some effects but in the vast majority of cases is not something worry about.

In the paper “Nudes? Shouldn't I charge for these? : Exploring what motives content creation on OnlyFans" authors from the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, University of Michigan and Arizona State University have explored the motives behind OnlyFans.

They found:

"two groups of people making content on OnlyFans, with significant overlap: those who desired to sexually express themselves, and those who needed money".

They say that:

"The financial possibilities of OnlyFans over other types of gig work were a motivating factor for most of our participants despite the fact that we found that many participants did not make the amount of income they hoped."

We can assume that a part of creators have joined the platform due to the lack of other income. The paper also talks about how people have lost their income during the pandemic and joined OnlyFans in order to earn money this way. There are also people joining OnlyFans because they are bound to the house (for example because they need to take care of someone) and can't hold down a regular job.

Like with other lines of sex work, people often monetize their bodies out of the lack of alternatives. Some enjoy it, others don't and do it because they need to survive. Thus OnlyFans has a problematic side attached to it, and I think it's sad that people (I talk about those who don't enjoy it) are not given any other possibility to make a living or the support they need.

There are other problematic aspects to it, but I will leave it at that.

I don’t put them on a pedestal but I can respect their hustle. I’ve went to school with some of them and slept with 2 of them and I noticed that most of them aren’t shameless nymphos that a majority of the manosphere depicts them as. Most of them are barely making ends meet because they didn’t take advantage of the opportunities earlier in their life or they didn’t have opportunities at all. One chick from HS hopped on the wave because her mom was struggling to pay bills from her cancer treatment and the rest of them were just broke coming from low support households. With that being said, most of them don’t have OF anymore since they found better opportunities (one finally got in her career after college, another is now working front desk at a dentist using TA, etc). They’re not ashamed and definitely not proud of it, regardless, I wouldn’t hold it against them given their circumstances.

With all that being said, I see them the same way I see blue collar workers(factory workers, construction, warehouse). I respect the hustle to make ends meets but I hope they don’t do it for the long term, considering the physical and mental tolls that it can place on them.

My thoughts are:

Woman has a right to do it as long as it's all legal and everyone is consenting in the matter.

However, on a personal level, I would never date anyone who has done OF nor would I tolerate that if my girlfriend wanted to do it. Just my own personal bias in it.

If it's some stranger I don't know or something, not my business and earn your money.

The way TRPers and incels think about women of the live demonstration of this effect. You may say "well lots of men watch porn and don't embrace TRP," but you should consider how many of them mask their more disgusting thoughts and feelings for the sake of societal approval.
