I've been separated for about a year and a half, moved out for over 6 months, divorce was finalized 3 months ago. I've been dating a wonderful girl since July exclusively and we got a great relationship and sex life and I thought that I was completely over my ex. I hadn't once thought about her in that way in terms of a relationship and loving her or had anything other than co-parenting discussions or thoughts about her. I didn't think I loved her anymore.

Fast forward to this week and my kids are very sick with a flu like illness and my ex has been taken care of them solo. I miss them all so much and wish I was there to help with the family dynamic and take care of the kids but I don't have them until later in the week. I have 50% custody. I wish that my ex would say that she needs something. I've offered many times to drop off food or supplies or do anything that they need but she's declined each time. I just broke down crying so unexpectedly cuz I just missed the whole family dynamic and the idea of them being sick and my ex dealing with too sick. Kids throwing up and all the stuff that's associated with that and stress all alone really makes me sad. We used to be partners and handle these types of family things together. I just can't stop crying and I realize part of it is me wanting to help my ex and take care of her because I do still love her. I don't know how to get over her. She's a cheater and not really worth my time and yet someone who I spent 10 years married to and longer dating and it's just straight up hard.
