There are "sugar babies" on sugar dating websites that do this. They are essentially escorts, and I think that the number of girls who are doing that is increasing. But besides that, most girls on dating apps and real life probably aren't doing this.

Transactive sex is definitely way lower than it used to be, since it used to be a requirement of any woman (given that women in many cultures couldn't own land, or would be killed for "witchcraft", when "witchcraft" is anything that goes against the status quo, and being married too late counts as that). And then, in most countries, marital rape was not considered a thing. This ends up with the vast majority of women being required to transactionally give sex.

Even on the note of OnlyFans: the vast majority of women on it make virtually, if not actually, nothing, especially compared to the amount of work and skill that kind of job takes (charisma, appropriate camera type and angles, mental energy, posing, knowledge of lighting, keeping up with the social media account, self-employment book keeping, the acting skills, obtaining props, etc). All of that, and she is insanely lucky if she even breaks 50$ per month. Likewise, most porn on the internet isn't pay-per-view or per advertisement, and most porn actresses make very little. Even for direct prostitution and other sex works, they tend to rarely make money, and the money doesn't cover the healthcare costs and risks.

Non-transactive sex is definitely way more common, or at least sex via a transaction that doesn't benefit the woman all that much (which makes sense, since it tends to just make up for the sex itself not benefiting her all that much either).

We also still haven't gotten over the cultural stigma of a woman's interest in sex inherently causing the value of her life to diminish, plus a good chunk of the world is taken over by Christians or the principals Christian push, which devalues the idea of pleasure sex (for women), so most women would generally not want, or not want to admit having, transactional sex.

I think most women want to be provided for at some point. Marriage is the long play, sugaring is the short play. I’ve read many men who have said sugaring is cheap compared to a divorce.

Both people entering a relationship, even a short one want something out of it, so in some sense they are all transactional: people enter them in the hopes of getting something they want out of it in return. Sugar relationships are just more straight forward about what each party wants.

While formal sugar relationships have become more common in recent years, they are still a small minority, but most men I know in LTRs have helped provide for the woman they are with in some way. Society is hypergamous after all.

I'm very much for it. You just have to convince people to FULLY decriminalize the world's oldest profession. Dude other primates even have transactional sex, it's as natural as consuming food or drinking water.

Unless you are a conscious human, all relationships are transactional, because the majority of people are living in their ego.

Therefore they only care what is best for them. They will not get with another human unless that human does something for them. Someone's apparent care about you is indeed transactional and is a form of prostitution. Unless you have a relationship with a conscious human, who doesn't need to take from others to be fulfilled, entertained or happy.
