I think this is interesting advice but should be taken carefully. There will be a lot of inexperienced guys that will use this as a tactic to try to increase the attraction of women they are hyper-interested in. They'll believe that all the have to do is ignore her and they'll win her over. And then the day comes where they haven't heard from her in a week and they'll wonder what they did wrong.

Not responding for x amount of time can be useful to mirror the girl's current interest in you. But it needs to come from a genuine place. You can't exactly not respond for 2 days and then send her an aggressive, needy text back. It's an asymmetrical frame. But if you have to worry about this tactic at all, it's worth considering that she's not very interested at all, and it may be worth your time to move on to someone that does actually want to talk to you. And when you start to value your time/life more than the fantasized construct built over a girl you barely know, you begin to act objectively and genuinely.

Edit: some of you dont realize that this is all about inner game and confidence. If a girl sends you a message that is so hard to reply to that you literally have to change the topic it is clear that the conversation has died out naturally. Too many guys are afraid to let it die out because they are insecure and believe it you dont give her constant attention then she wont like you. Which is totally wrong and actually the complete opposite.

Makes perfect sense to me been doing it for years. Texting does not have the same rules of normal conversation and people thinking every conversation must end with a neat bow like "hey I'm going to go to bed now goodbye" is mistaken. This is especially true in the early days of an interaction where both of you shouldn't have that much investment in each other.

Another way this applies is if a girl hits you with ambiguous/low effort content. For instance liking your message or laughing at it instead of giving a proper reply to what you said. Most guys try to escalate MORE on the heels of that ("so does Friday work?! haha"), but in my experience this is often a mistake. Instead, I simply match energy -- with an emoji or just silence. Right now I'm dealing with a woman who liked a message related to a date I was pitching. There's some unease on her part I'm not fully sure I've figured out the source of. But in any case, it's not a date we can do until this weekend anyway. So instead of essentially double texting with something like "so are you in?" or "how about Saturday?" instead I'm just going to STFU until Weds/Thurs. Often times, when you allow this space, the woman fills the gap herself. But even if not, I've now given the space for her to sort through her emotions where hopefully now when I circle back, she's more receptive.

Leave them on read if there’s nothing to talk about or if they seem uninterested/aren’t agreeing to meeting up.

Sometimes it's interesting to decide "I'm not going to respond to this person for a couple of hours" and see what happens.

Don't be a dick about this, especially if you're in the middle of a convo and are expected to answer, but just when it seems to die out naturally.

The amount of responses I've gotten out of the blue indicate levels of interest that otherwise would be hard to measure. Not exactly sure what to make of it, other than not responding all the time makes you a bit scarce in a world where everything is hyper available.

As a woman, I do not think this would have the desired effect for most. You would only irritate her and make her less likely to engage in any more conversation.

Instead, find a girl who you can talk to, and the conversation comes to natural ends rather than one of you awkardly leaving the other on read! You deserve better than someone who does that to you and vice-versa.

Of course, if you find that this method works for you then go ahead! But for others I would suggest refraining from such a method.

I think the advice should be "don't try to force a conversation". Conversations end, that's normal, but some guys feel like they have to lead every conversation, that if it ends, it's because they didn't do enough, so they'll just try to keep going, forcing the conversation, even when there's nothing else to say, which in the end, gives a bad impression to the girl.

It's also not valuing yourself enough. Guys shouldn't forget that they are the prize too. You put effort into getting her, but if she's not putting effort into getting you, just move on. If you feel like the conversation is one-sided, stop replying, and move on.

Agreed with everything you said. It seems like people are misinterpreting the post. You’re not saying “Leave girls on read on purpose just because” you’re more saying “It’s okay to not respond when the convos reached a natural end or there isn’t really a response to what she last said”.

When I was younger, I remember always feeling like I had to respond or I’d lose the girls interest and I fell into this trap a lot which just lead me to over texting a lot of the time. Nowadays I hardly text unless it’s logistics related.

Honestly when I was single I disabled read receipts. Way too much drama or girls deleting / blocking because you have to work and not reply instantly. Yea you could say it filtered out the rubbish, but I just couldn’t be bothered dealing with it at all. Disabled read receipts and never turned them back on, nobody needs that much access to me, I’ll reply when I’m ready without being judged for it. It’s amazing how not replying for 8 hours can built intrigue, UNLESS she can see you read it and haven’t replied.

I don't have anything else to say so Im not gonna drag on the convo. Ive realized its good to show interest over text but let it die out if it's not going anywhere. Show her the guy you could be, but stop being that guy if she doesn't reciprocate.

The thing is, attractive single women always have men they are talking to. Always. If they don’t, something is wrong with them.

I want to believe you will “stand out” if you leave them on read, and I’m sure it’s worked for some in the past, but I think more times than not they’ll just move on to the next man who gives them the attention they want. The woman needs to be into you for this to work. If they’re iffy or whatever about you, it’s not going to work.

OP I’m with u/avnas3 on this one. Do this and she might go from liking you to hating you but i’m also going to play devil’s advocate here. Why is it that men can’t do this to women but women do it to men all the time. Personally i don’t put up with that shit if its constantly happening. Once, twice, maybe three times because i know women have lives and shit happens and comes up but if its constant then good fucking bye.

This is good except I would say leaving a girl on read comes into play when she sends you a text that seeks a response. If you say a joke and she writes “lol your sooo funny (emoji)” That doesn’t necessarily require a response and is more just letting the conversation resolve itself naturally. Text game is all balance and timing. You gotta feel out when it’s good to go sexual and you gotta find the right balance of how often you exchange texts with the girl. In the beginning I personally wouldn’t recommend talking more than 2-3 times a day. Each exchange being maybe 15 min worth of back and forth banter. Then let the conversation resolve natural sometimes, leave it on read sometimes, tell her to it gonna go do (something productive.
Switch it up so your not saying the same thing every time and not saying something completely different every single time.
Don’t initiate good morning or goodnight text they have no positive and a lot of potential for negative.
If your asking her what she had for dinner or even worse lunch your texting her to much, so eas back and find a balance

coming from a girl, it does make you stand out. I have a possible love of my life, we rarely ever text but whenever we see each other there’s always that spark. I know i’m terrible at texting for this reason because i do the same thing, but it makes everything more alive when you see one another. But remember not every girl wants you. so don’t blow your head up too high. confidence is good but too much is overbearing !!

The main point to take away is value your own time and put yourself first. If you feel like you’re being used for the attention, leave her on read.
