Hey gents, just had a thought I wanted to put down this morning and see if others had this same epiphany. From reading the stories here, I think most of us are struggling with the same stuff, trying to understand it all and deal with the new reality after being fathers, husbands, etc. Growing up as a young man, all we see is our family (immediate and extended) in marriages, with kids, doing the adult thing. I also remember some uncles that were divorced and never chose to remarry and I always felt there was some stigma a bit of "oh why aren't they re-married, something must be wrong".

I'm here to turn this around, I know society seems to beat us in the head for being divorced but what if the opposite is true. What if we have been handed the keys to the kingdom, freedom and the ability to live the life we want? I've struggled the past year but the more and more I have my free time and freedom to do in my house and yard what I want and what I want with my time, the more I think I've been released from jail. I look at my parents, they sure as heck aren't happy, my former ex-FIL is stuck working at the age of 71 to support the massive entitlement and food budget of ex-MIL and I wonder if any of my married friends REALLY are happy. In the meantime, I can fire up the fire pit, go for a ride in the sports car or go pound out some weights at 9pm at night and nobody can say no. I don't nor have I never needed a relationship for validation, if anything it was just an extra bonus to me.

Just a thought on how to positively view the situation, what do you guys think?
