Exactly, by displaying attractive traits indirectly in front of a person, it's easier to be free from feeling like you are trying to achieve a specific outcome. It also prevents you from looking like you are chasing the other person. Yes! I get approached by women quite a bit and I’ve determined this is a common thread. A couple weeks ago I was dancing at a bar and there was a huge line and I looked confused so some woman at the front started talking to me. Great, it was just friendly banter, but I did skip the line. Out of nowhere this other woman comes up and starts dancing with me, we went home together.

In fact the other time like this that comes to mind was at a dance. Go dancing y’all, and talk to people!

Simple reason is: she wants to know you before she wants to be with you.

I think it's about trust and safety. If she knows that you are basically a normal person, she can trust you and feel safe with you.

And for her to know you, you need to talk. If you are just sitting there listening, she may think you are cute but she won't know you.

Pretty much. It shows that you're a sociable person and you aren't some creepy, loner guy. Funny thing is that this is how I ended up getting an ONS. Met some guy at a bar, turned out that he used to work at said bar and knew everyone there. He introduces me to his social circle and met a chick from that circle because of him. Long story short, she thought I was interesting even though I didn't talk much, but because I was with the other guy I guess that gave me the social proof I needed?

It’s also a sort of protection for women from my experience, there’s some men that take a simple compliment as flirtation and will immediately go that route. So when there’s people around, it feels a bit safer. But it’s also nice to do it with others around because they will jump in to compliment the person you complimented and that’s a good feeling.

I have a friend that has great game, talks to everyone all the time, high energy, charismatic etc. If I'm hanging out with him, not saying anything for long periods of time, and then interject and talk over him once and he defers to me, so does everyone else for the rest of the conversation.

Just something I noticed recently. So it's not necessarily that you're talking, but that the group is addressing/deferring you I think.
