Why are girls with boyfriends often more receptive than single girls in bars and clubs?

I don't know any women from this subculture of going to bars/clubs, but just on the face of it I'd say they're not happy in their relationships or are trying to make their boyfriends jealous. Either way, it's immature behavior to stay far away from so you don't get hurt in the crossfire.

I'm curious though, in these kinds of interactions, how do you know they have boyfriends? Do the women openly say it, and could be lying? Or does she point him out in the crowd?

I don't go to bars and clubs. Barely felt any desire to do it when I was single, feel even less desire to do it because I'm taken and feel like it would be disrespectful to my SO to surround myself with a bunch of drunk, horny men. I've had sips of alcohol here and there, but never enough to even feel tipsy. My SO is the only person I would ever consider drinking around for real once we're married since I trust him and I'm open to whatever happens from there.

So if a woman is going to bars and clubs in the first place, while having a partner, and he isn't there, I think it's safe to say the she is operating with a very different set of values.

Wether I'm single or taken I'm happy to have friendly conversations with people. I have been told that I can be misinterpreted as flirtatious because I tend to fully engage in the conversation, I don't shy away from deeper topics and I have a lot of energy. Friends also tell me that I am bad at picking up on other people's expression of interest.

One time I was out with my best friend and a new guy friend of ours. At one point my best friend interrupts the conversation, leans over the table, looks the guy straight in the eye and tells him "I know what you're thinking. She's not flirting with you. This is just the way she is. She's not interested". That was pretty awkward.... But also a bit funny. So perhaps some of the women you've met are equally oblivious?

That might a filtering issue. You can't know for sure whether women who rejected you are single or are in relationships, so a good share of taken women probably reject you. You pay more attention to the opposite examples though.

It's classic making assumptions.

In WW2 people sent out planes. And then the plans came back with bullet holes and they spent forever trying to figure out how to reinforce those ones.

When really what they should have been looking to improve were the planes that never made it back
