Basically, the early, default configuration of a human foetus is female. If we were to assign a sex at conception as per Trump's executive order, all of them would be female.

This is all a red herring when sexual characteristics are only meaningful to personal intimates, in which case they want to know the actual reality, not the nearest closest category; and the rest of society only needs to identify every individual uniquely (which is the real problem).

Business can employ people according to the characteristics they need, not the erroneous binary sexual shorthand we have adopted for decades.

The medical profession needs to be able to treat everyone, not selective subsets.

There are many advantages to being identified uniquely instead of by category, including the inability to profile people and discriminate.
