Dworkin is sometimes misunderstood by her critics, but also often understood quite correctly by her critics. In this case, she's wrong for painting with a broad brush and her metaphor breaks down when you put thought into what actually differentiates the broader left and right positions when it comes to women. However, you should also consider when this was said. For a lot of her lifetime, a lot of the establishment on both sides of the aisle was absolutely sexist, and that's the vibe of what she is pointing out.

(And, as pointed out by other comments, she's talking about sex work and, I assume, free love sexual liberation, which she is wrong about as well, but not astronomically so.)

So, she is wrong, but it could definitely be further from the truth. She said a lot worse than this.

I notice that for as much bashing as the left does to left wing men, I can’t really tell why half the time. No, Left wing men don’t really see women as property and tend to be the biggest forgotten advocates among the left.

Her example isn’t even special to men either. Lots of Left wing women conseder others as property given how they talk about men on average. Usually, they only care about men as far as they think men can benifit them.

I disagree with A LOT of Dworkin's premises (I had to read a lot of her in college) but 1) she's a great writer and 2) One of her core conclusions about gender/sex needing to be excluded and separated from the other has some merit to it (the math she uses to get there is some gymnastics, but the end "ask" is pretty compelling.)

One of the core reasons why I dislike writers like bell hooks is that they had all of the tools to dismantle arguments from folks like Dworkin, but chose to anonymize the 'sisterhood/other feminist thinkers' over dismantling patriarchy and bringing liberation to everyone. Currently reading The Way to Change and hooks takes feminist thought-leaders to task, but refuses to outright cite Dworkin, Mackinnon, etc., but has no problem with criticism of other thinkers with less incendiary takes. Super inconsistent and frustrating.

Did she not say all hetrosexual sex is rape? I can't believe I read her stuff, let alone absorbed some. It really fucked up my sexuality for at least a decade, at a formative time.

She was a damaged individual. Less charitably, I think she's sick and mad. I'm not sure who ought to be reading her books, I'm not sure why they should be still available.
