She wasn't trans. She was a lesbian woman who could dress up and even trained to act so that she could pass off as a man.
Her book cites everything like how she didn't feel threatened by male gaze and much safe.
Trans people have a struggle if not being accepted, she was accepted in male groups but thought of as being gay due to feminine features somewhat.

In her book and documentary, she talks about men not trans.

Who's this "y'all?" Who says trans people aren't real? That doesn't make any sense. No one is denying they exist. Some don't like how much attention is being given to them. Some want them to get treatment for mental illness. Some don't want their children to take life-altering hormones. Some don't like being called 'cis.' But no one is saying they don't exist.

And Norah Vincent wasn't trans. I've read her book and recommended it to others. She was comfortable being a woman, and acknowledged to an extent that her life was better for it. She did not feel comfortable or "at home" being in a man's role, the way a trans person might say they feel.

she doesn't represent male experience because she wasn't male, full stop. she "experienced" how males are treated 100% as a female, both biological and socialized. her book is interesting as an observation of male behavior and life, but not as "how MEN experience X internally"

You're half right, her suicide had nothing to do with her experiment and it's disgusting that there's guys on the internet using her tragic death as a way to score points in some meaningless shit flinging contest.

But she did talk about real struggles that men deal with (alongside real positives too). If people approach her experiment with an open mind and genuine curiosity it can be very great and fulfilling learning experience

Vincent is an interesting case, because they were a cis woman dressing up as a man (ignore my terminology if it’s offensive, I’m just describing what happened). So, in effect, it was a woman’s hormonal perspective of what men see life like.

People who medically transition have some interesting additions to this experiment, such as treatment with testosterone. This can have profound effects on a person’s mind and body, so the fact Vincent didn’t take any might be a factor.

Regardless, I think it’s unnecessary to classify Vincent’s experience as “man or trans”, as their experiences are absolutely backed by many other people. This wasn’t a one off thing, many men found Vincent very relatable.

To begin with, she wasn't trans, but even if we imagine it that way... Nothing will really change.

You kind of ruined your whole argument in advance, because it is a proven fact that even trans people have repeatedly responded that men are treated more harshly in society, while women enjoy greater basic respect and trust.

I've never heard anybody claim that Norah Vincent committed suicide because her time spent as a man was too harsh. You're fighting a strawman. She killed herself some 20 years after she stopped posing as a man. The argument you're arguing against is nonsense and unpopular.

All of that distracts from your total lack of explanation for the second part: trans struggle. She was not trans (you wrote trans woman but you mean trans man). Trans people often do not struggle with having multiple gender identities, that's more of a genderfluid thing than a trans thing. And she did not earnestly feel she was a man at heart, which is likely a pretty different feeling compared to most transitioning people. It's bound to affect you differently as far as conflicting gender identity.

Not only that, she directly attributed her mental health struggles to SSRIs, not merely the life she lived as a man
