Ehhh, I thought it was going to be worse than it was. I kinda get what she’s saying, though “violence” isn’t the right word for it. It’s more the stigma of men and women getting married when they’re not ready for it simply because society says it’s normal (and those who don’t get married are not).

I think it’s akin to a new couple instantly and sometimes incessantly getting asked “sooooo…. kids when???”

I don’t particularly want to listen to Matt Walsh (may give it a go later).

However I will make an observation.

JK Rowling (and yes, I know she’s a nutty feminist shill too) actually summed up Emma Watson quite well in her recent tweet: that she has no experience of real life and is ignorant of how ignorant she really is. Hence labelling marriage “violence” since she’s so utterly clueless about real violence and threats.

A daughter of wealthy lawyers: she actually did live a “privileged life”, although feminists would say a white Anglo guy who’s dad was a laid off assembly line worker is “privileged” and Watson isn’t! And then onto filming Harry Potter from the age of 10/11, and sequel after sequel and becoming a multimillionaire at a young age in the process.

She has SFA experience of what most people go through. And if she really thinks she has had it harder than most men (of all races and ethnicities) she is seriously deluded.

A lot of feminists see marriage as a tool of oppression. And they're kinda-sorta correct.

Marriage is a way to avoid the problems that are coincidentally popping up right now with hook-up culture. It locks a man and a woman together so that when their pesky urges come about, the consequences of infidelity/divorce are a deterrent that helps keep them in line. This is both for their own interest since long term investment in creating a happy marriage is incentivized, and also in the interest of providing their children the best likely support system.

I'm kind of oversimplifying the complex reasons why marriage was created/perpetuated, but suffice it to say that a big part of why is because it stabilizes the family unit, therefore stabilizing society, by hindering our freedoms. Because we're stupid, horny animals who will throw away a good relationship and our children's stability if a hot man/woman wants to get it on with us. Also because men will sleep with women without committing to them if women dont have a way to legally enforce his fidelity. And many more reasons.

I'm really glad she's finally getting canceled, man. JK's teardown of her was beautifully poetic. Turned on the person who is the reason she became a multimillionaire at 14, and she was already born to rich parents besides. The fact that all of them turned on her how they did the second it became popular to still pisses me off to this day. I used to really like Emma as an actress, too.

Sadly, she's never known any of the struggles on the other side of the shit she spews. Meanwhile, Rowling lived in poverty and could barely afford the napkins on which she wrote the books that would one day make Emma disgustingly rich.
