I don't really GAF about Target's sex toy options, if I wanted a masturbation toy with bells and whistles like automatic stroking and warming or whatever I would just go to an actual sex shop and not Target. What I do find troubling is that so many toys/accessories/etc for men seem to work against him getting pleasure. Numbing gels, condoms designed to reduce sensation, rings that cut off your circulation. They're all marketed as a way to "last longer" but they're all the same; reduce your own pleasure (ostensibly) for your partner's sake.

A lot of women will mock men for arousal, getting hard from just kissing, reaching orgasm too easily, etc., but it's not just women participating in that shit culture of shaming men for actually enjoying sex. When I was 17 and going to lose my virginity, older male friends/acquaintances would advise me to think un-sexy thoughts to "last longer". No one was telling me to enjoy the moment and let my first time be special. Everything was anxiety-inducing advice that made me worry that my performance wouldn't be enough, that I'd look like a fool if I was too enthusiastic, that she'd be angry or disappointed in me if I reached orgasm too easily, etc. All the expectations are on you, and most of them revolve around you not allowing yourself to fully enjoy it.

Even the men that were (seemingly) sexually open seemed less concerned with the actual joy and pleasure of sex and more interested in "getting girls". As if the validation from women that you're good enough to be considered a viable sexual option was more important than the sex itself and the enjoyment that comes with it. As if sex wasn't meant to be enjoyed if you're a man, with sex instead being a challenge to please women and impress other men, with your own pleasure and arousal taking a back seat to a list of of abstract social motives.

I hate this mentality. It doesn't even make your sex life better. In real life women want to feel like their man is into it; feeling pleasure, feeling attraction and excitement. If you're young, horny and sensitive enough to cum in two minutes you're probably horny and sensitive enough to get hard again for round two pretty fast. You can do other acts, as long as the mood isn't killed and you aren't made to feel ashamed for daring to experience pleasure. You have hands, you have a mouth, you can fill the refractory period with other stuff. Most women would actually probably love it if a guy came super fast, then kissed and fingered and talked dirty to her for fifteen minutes before going back in. The idea that cumming ruins sex is actually insane.

That's how it is with all these big box stores. You gotta go online if you want good options for male sex toys. Even sex toy stores are like 80% products for women. There's more of a stigmatization of men owning sex toys than women so it makes sense. But like, even people who run these shops don't seem to care in the slightest what gender you are when I've spoken to them. I see this as stores selling things people will buy rather than them enforcing a norm, all they care about is making money.

I don't think this phenomenon is limited to that category of goods. Look at men's clothing. A year ago I wanted to buy a nice suit but the only colors I could find were light gray, dark gray and navy blue. That was it. I'm not looking for pleated tassels in gold lame (I don't even know what that is), I just want a non-npc color. Nothing fancy. But nope.

I always see mention of the "pink tax" when the pink version of the object is a few bucks extra. Yet on the flip side, when the men's version of a typically female product is deliberately made less pink, all I hear is "lol fragile masculinity they'd pay extra to not have to touch pink".

That pink tax thing was always weird to me. Like if it’s exactly the same product just marketed to woman and the only difference is it costs more, why not just buy the identical men’s version if you care so much about the supposed “tax”

As an avid user of adult toys and dolls, this is so true. I remember the first time I was searching for dolls, nothing fancy just basic ones and in my country I found that you could get the equivalent for females at as low as $100. Similar stuff for me costed $400 and even then there was a massive difference in the size/overall quality and usability of the product. To really get something enjoyable I would need to spend atleast $700-900 to get a good enjoyable doll.

Same with comparison of female vibrators-male strokers. Female vibrators are cheap as fuck here, there are even some local shops in metro cities where you could get them for under $10. But male strokers? You need to atleast spend $ 50 to get a decent male stroker here.

No I'm not condemning anyone who is, I just have a different purpose for sex that was an unhealthy discovery. Having good sex has effects that make the relationship better, so actually wanting to have sex and conveying that physically serves a purpose that a toy might diminish.

Personally... I remember all the conversations I used to have with women on forums in the early 2010s where people all were in the same place. Women would always reassure men that the vagina was a resiliant structure that would return to a natural "tight" form over time. Given the sex toy usage I'd be bold to assume these would be the same people who pick scabs nonstop and still expect a flawless recovery...

It is what it is, I'd expect if men had an equal or better option they'd be less interested in sex. But I also feel like there would be obstacles in relationships because some women are very vocal about men liking porn. If porn upsets them, whatever contraption that is made that men like could also be a problem for them.

This is not the blue hole ... sex shops are aimed almost exclusively at men. Many women don't feel comfortable even going there. They do feel comfortable at target. So the toys are going where there is an audience. No self respecting man would go strutting through target with the super stroker no girlfriend 5000.
