The environment, situation, and context, determine the conversation. If you're at a wake, you talk about big issues--"How did you come to know John or Bev?" or "I never know what to say to child eho lost their father."

If it's at a Yankees game you can talk about how the season is going or how the new rookie brought up from Triple A is doing.

It always seemed odd to me that if I saw a woman studying a Monet at the Met, that I should gear the conversation to something other than Monet, and yet so many guys forget that and proceed with stream-of-consciousness bullshit.

Talk about common topics the same way you do with your friends, where everyone tells stories, makes jokes, and asks questions to find out what's new. However, as a backup plan, memorize 3–4 routines/gambits. Whenever you don't know what to say or is an awkward moment of silence, you can just drop a gambit. That easily solves your problem for about 10–15 minutes.

Lol I was asked on a date then I ask randomly what do you do for work and man I have never seen a man pretended to explain what is his work like he faked “trying to explain” LOL i just stare at him cause honestly its easy to answer lol and later on he was like why are you always asking what I do I said because im curious because frankly speaking curiosity is in my system and my I learn later on that he was like thinking im stalking him or whatever im like what seriously then because one of his ex did that im like this man is projecting on me even my hows your day and uow ate you he was like - you dont need to know my schedule etc etc etc and im like I didnt ask about your work. I was just trying to connect here but he made it complicated and he was like “I assume you were” and lo and behold he was and always assuming eversince I guess the only thing he ask was whats your love language and what is your pet peeve.
