So I've been chatting with a guy who seems great. Financially stable, on track to have a great career, decisive, always first to initiate/chase, etc. We've hung out twice and went on one date. It was a concert that he had a spare ticket for and he invited me. We had a great time, he held my hand a couple times but that's the furthest it went physically. I wasn't certain he was interested in me or that it was an actual "date" until after he held my hand (My self confidence runs a tidge low so I generally assume men just want to be friends).

However, right as we entered the venue I offered to pay him for the spare ticket and his response was "Sure, or you could buy me lunch a couple times!".

I think this response was perfectly fair for someone who wants to be my friend and I agreed, but later in the concert he made it clear that it was intended to be a date. Is it wrong to think of this as a red flag?

All my past relationships have ended up in situations that I'm paying for the majority of dates or other costs and I really am done with that game. I want a man who prides himself on providing for me. Is this guy likely not the man I'm looking for?
