Q4Women: Can the women of PPD describe what “presence” means and what makes one man stand out from the crowd?

In a physics class of about 30 people (maybe 3 of which are female), there is really one guy that stands out above the rest.

He always answers the teacher when she asks general questions (often is the only one daring enough). As the others in the class cower in the face of the teachers post-exam disappointment speech, he lets out a hearty laughter at her euphemisms. He stays after class and challenges the professor when he feels something was done unfairly and is not afraid of making mistakes or being wrong, and he stands his ground in a way that is incredibly respectful.

In addition to his mannerisms and behaviors, he also stands out physically above the rest. I'm not sure if I'd say he's the most attractive guy in class — he's probably not, but he is certainly the most noticeable.

Horseshoe mustache, long brown hair, always dressing likes he's going to the disco, or perhaps burning man. His fingers are covered in bandaids and he sharpens his pencil with a pocket knife. He rides a retro, customized bike to class (but there are no bike racks, so he has to bring it to school and leave it in the corner of the room).

So what makes a man stand out? Wearing your personality... but of course this only works if you have an interesting personality. Of course most people might prefer someone who is more conforming... but I think this man, above the rest, will have very little trouble getting quality women or finding and securing a good job. There is something so admirable about a person that is shamelessly themselves, but it is rare when doing so doesn't result in being a massive POS.

I will describe my husband and the first few times I saw him and was around him. I was anti- marriage, don't even leave a toothbrush son, until I put eyes on my now H of 7 yrs.

The best words that I think of him as are Regal and Powerful, he stood in his natural relaxed state with a barreling proud chest and a chin pointed upwards, as if above everyone around him, like a lion in a cub's den. There was something about his eyes when he was scanning the room, watching people - it's how he caught my eye while i was scanning the crowd watching people. He is not particularly tall but he felt like a mountain I needed to climb.

I tried so ridiculously hard to grab his attention, I mean it was cringe-worthy looking back, I didn't care I was going to make him aware of me one way or another.

I stalked his ass after the first party we were at together, I made all my friends text all their friends and find out the places he would be and then oops oh hey, you again! seems cosmic! I laid it on thick and he would just laugh and laugh and bust my balls with negs that would make most women cry or slap the shit out of him haha. There was something in his eyes, a level of mischief and amusement, i knew he was into me.

The sex was of course fiyah and that was that. He was The Magic Man forever after, the end.. When I got to know his life and what he does, he became even more powerful to me because he literally holds power over many people and they do his bidding.

The thing about a natural is they aren't even trying, they are just existing causing women to break federal laws just for a date lol

If they are attractive to me they are not invisible to me.

The opposite of meek.

The men who stand out are the ones who look like they are having a good time and appear open or charismatic enough to share that good time with you.

An air of confidence, a friendly expression on his face, good style and grooming. Great posture

He's always friendly, to everyone. Joking around, and able to make people laugh at themselves. Willing to answer any questions, and flirts with every woman (including the older ones)

Having a personality that's very authentic. Let's take two people I know, T and K.

T's personality is built entirely on pop culture references, you can EASILY tell he has horribly untreated ADHD, he practically needs attention from others to live. He's not bad looking, but not stunning. He might be the loudest in the room, but his presence is either aggravating or sometimes funny.

K, is quiet but speaks his mind. Everyone notices him, in a good way. He has hobbies and interests, literally everything from cars/guns/martial arts/blacksmithing. I made a joke he probably had deep sea scuba gear in his trunk and he actually had some not deep sea gear but still scuba gear lol. He's funny, kind of mean, but can be serious because he genuinely doesn't give a shit what people think. He's had more success with girls, with life in general, and is more well liked than T, despite T constantly trying to prove he's cool and trying very hard to have a non chalant idgaf attitude.

K has the most "manly" presence out of any guy I know, and he's literally only 19. Both him and T are equally attractive.

I think there are a couple things. Posture is a big one. Someone slouched looks like theyre hiding. His facial expression is another one. Non confident people have a look on their faces like concern over everything.

He can command and guide other men. I notice if his guy friends follow his lead or come to him for advice. People naturally defer to him as he is a jack of all trades and can hold a conversation about a multitude of subjects. He's the guy who steps forward first to help when something unexpected happens. He's good at one line zingers that get a group of people to laugh.

About one Japanese guy I met recently amongst a group of 15...

He was tall, but shy-looking. He had cute eyes which became small and moon-shaped, sorrounded with some crows feet when he smiled. And he smiled a lot geniuenly, and we had this thing where we would smile at each other whenever we made eye contact. He just seemed really adorable to me, and I loved how he said he studies Japanese Literature and that he spends most of his time reading. He also showed me one of the authors he liked the most
