So the red pill states that love as we are shown by Hollywood doesn't exist, and that it's more like just appreciating the good traits of your partner on a more animal level. Okay, depressing but fair enough. But what's been keeping me going is the 'intentions' of the partner.

For men, do they like their partner because she is not just good looking, but patient and supportive even in his darkest hour?

For women, do they like their partner not only because he looks good and has the status, but remains faithful and steady in his bearing?

We all know the base attraction. Men like looks, women like looks and status. But I don't want to believe that it's just that nihilistic of an outlook. I want to also hear from people that they value their partner because they are sincere, good people. What people's intentions are in the relationship. Do they intend to plate-spin this woman (which I find to be ridiculous), or is she gonna branch-swing the moment a better man comes along? Things like that.

Yes this is to soothe my own relationship anxiety, but I am also hoping I can shed some more knowledge as to what other people's intentions are in relationships. Because I am willing to accept that true love doesn't exist and we are by default animals, only if we are willing to work toward the more human concepts of whatever the closest thing to real love is. It's hard to explain, clearly.

I don't know how to better articulate the question any better. But what is your thoughts on making it work, I guess? Obviously not with someone so different from you, you might as well be enemies. But someone that you have enough chemistry with to be just within that threshold of love. Would you be willing to work on the relationship and yourself? Or would you rather give in to the lure of the theoretically greener grass?

tl,dr: I clearly can't explain. Are you willing to make a relationship work even if there would be a lot of effort and hard talks involved?
