There has been a normalization in our culture of soft prostitution. The exchange of something of value for something that is sexual, but may or may not be sex.

There are:

Exchanges of money for a "benefits" situation such as the Sugar Daddy segment, there is even an online dating app where you put a bid in for a date (do you think sex might be involved in some of these bides covertly?)

Exchange of money for sexual behaviors such as webcam sites, good old fashioned strip clubs (did you know that is still a 7 billion dollar industry!?), some might argue even night clubs fill this role

Money in return for creating suggestive content - With the monetizing of Instagram, snap-chat, and YouTube, woman are making suggestive content and profiting.

Straight up porn - Let's be real here, porn is prostitution with a license and a camera - even pornhub has been monetized, so you do not even have to be an official porn studio, just a couple with a camera.

Dudes are spending billions a year on this stuff and women are making a solid chunk of that money. This is all a legal exchange of money for services or goods, and the SMP has not changed in reaction to easier access to this kind of stuff.

As far as straight up prostitution, all you have to do is look across the pond at Germany, as far as I understand prostitution is completely legal there (embraced even?) and has been for a long time. I do not think that the SMP there is better or worse than here in the states, but I would need a German to confirm that.

In short - I do not think legalizing prostitution here in the United States is gonna change much.

It... might... prevent Black Pill frustrations, but I do not know how much stock I put in that because Black Pilled men seem to want women to like them voluntarily, and a paid sexual relationship is not that.

I am having a hard time envisioning RP men using prostitution services, unless they have gone somewhat MGTOW and do not want the hassle of plating, it is definitely frowned upon in the official TRP arena. BP men might use these services, in fact, I think that the sugar daddy stuff is straight from the BP handbook.

That all being said - I am a Libertarian at heart and I do believe that it should be decriminalized the same way that marijuana has been (for some states anyhow), but that is a topic of conversation beyond the scope of this discussion.

Nothing much. I'm from Germany and prostitution is very legal here and it doesn't do anything to make women less sought after (and thus entitled). American manosphere members put legal prostitution on a huge pedestal.

Most states ban it, but it's straight up legal in Nevada, and tolerated in many other states. No harder to get than marijuana in states that ban it.

Prostitution is legal in a lot of countries and I don't see there any significant difference for SMP. Hookers are expensive (here). Really expensive. 200 bucks for a fuck. That's expensive. You only use them if you have a long dry spell (or to lose your virginity I guess) or for a therapeutic effect (i.e. in case you don't want to fuck up sex with a women you like so you train how to do it properly with a hooker so you're not clueless and nervous around a women you like scaring her away). In some way hookers are part of sexual education for some men because for a women to fulfill a guys expectations towards sex is "easy" - pleasing her is the difficult part. Concerns about sexual performance is some issue in some men even when they are physically healthy. It's also in women an issue but usually tied to physical abnormalities. Evolution didn't make us into fucking machines that can last even just a couple of minutes. An length of sex is usually also a demand from women increasing the sexual performance pressure on men. A lot of the sex and sexula demands are - ironically - sort of unnatural and thus the cause of a lot of issues. Hookers may serve as training dolls.

However, hookers don't fill an emotional role in a man's life. Sex with a hooker for a lot isn't the same as consensual sex. Sex with hookers is business sex. It's like paying somebody to be your friend - it won't feel like a real friend. It's not even close to a real friend. Hookers on the other hand might serve some kink as men certainly can have kinks they wouldn't want to do with a women they love but a hooker you've paid would serve that purpose.

In the grand scheme of things I don't think it changes much and I'm personally for legalized prostitution because then the government can make laws regulating it protecting both prostitutes and clients and it might even help fight sex trafficking. If prostitution is legal there's less incentive to go to an illegal brothel or something but you can go to an official one where they have paperwork for their prostitutes and health regulations and all that stuff which makes it much more unlikely that the prostitutes there are forced to do their job. The goverment could do routine visits and check things out to watch for signs of sex slavery and stuff. Much better for all involved if you ask me.

If I ever go to a prostitute I sure as **** don't want her to be forced to do this.

What's the difference between prostitutes and escorts though?

For background, I found out in my state that escorts are legal and I've found local websites for escort services. For shits and giggles, I contact them saying I'm interested in an escort and they give me a price and ask me if I'm staying at a hotel. So are the prostitutes with another name?

Looked up the legalese and there is a grey area that escorts ride on. Essentially, you can pay a women to be a "girlfriend" for the day or arm candy to something and technically it's not sexual in nature.

Plenty of regular men used them then.

If it’s suddenly legal, the same guys will likely use them.

Legality means nothing. Its how easily accessible hookers are that matter. If you look at the surveys, something like 15% of American men paid for sex before, while 40% of Japanese men paid for sex, and 90% of men in Thailand and Cambodia paid for sex. This is with prostitution being illegal in all of these countries (Nevada excluded). What you need to change the SMV is not to make paying for sex legal, but to make it accessible.

Im fairly left leaning to start with and this idea crosses my mind often and bothers me. Its not a win-win solution for society but I will try to explain my thoughts best I can.

Prostitutes existing allow men to seek sex outside of relationships. It gives them options. (This might be hard to understand but) sex for men is a drive, like thirst, having to pee, or wanting to eat. You can go a month without eating if forced, you can go your whole life without sex if forced. Yet notice what that drives a person to do seeking it.

Without the power of sex women can not completely and utterly control men they way they currently do in American culture. Lets look at a fat middle class guy pass his prime in every way married to a fat shrew of a woman. In the current system this man has no out except divorce, he does everything he can in hopes to please this internally unhappy woman in hopes of a tiny touch of unfulfilling sex. That and divorce rape keep him in the marriage.

With prostitution legal he ignores her manipulations, enjoys himself when he really needs to at a financial cost and comes back and deals with this woman who can only threaten divorce. This man is much more likely to exit the marriage and just have a generally happier life.

Men of the marrying age are less likely to enter into and stay in clearly toxic relationships in the first place. Women by and large would not be allowed to act hysterical privately in conflicts. She no longer has a trump card. Its a level playing field based on romance and friendship, and not manipulation. Before men made the money now we are largely equal with even the burden of children being accounted for via the court systems.

Growing up online I've noticed the cultural effect of prostitution is that women take better care of themselves overall, put value on home making, are more dramatic but more loyal; and if they personally fail at those are very success oriented.

Marriage becomes a team effort because neither party has any reason to be there beyond that they like you. Each party is equally capable of doing all roles, or finding some compromise without manipulations.
