It's just sex because modern medicine and culture has found ways to mitigate the consequences of it.

Pregnancy is a natural consequence of sex. The birth of a child is recognized as the most significant event in a large percentage of most ordinary people's lives. In the past, pregnancy could often result in the woman suffering a painfully brutal death. There was significant reason and incentive to partake in it wisely.

However, science and medicine has come along and provided us with a plethora of options to mitigate these consequences. We have condoms, birth control and thorough understanding of the circumstances that can result in pregnancy. If these fail, we offer abortion to women who do not want to raise a child.

In the past, sex was also associated with the need for men and women to fulfill traditional gender roles. Raising children required resources and that was assigned that fell largely on both the mother and father. They had to reach compromise which typically meant marriage.

Today, we have child support and welfare. If the mother and father can't reach compromise, then the state will intervene. Mothers and children come first. Our society would rather throw men in jail and let them go homeless than expect a woman to face the consequences of promiscuous, irresponsible sex.

Not saying that these developments are completely a bad thing. They have provided many benefits to modern society. Sexual freedom being one of them.

However, ignoring the past traditions that got us to this point is to ignore our evolution as a species. Just because we have developed methods to mitigate the consequences of sex does not mean that promiscuity is a healthy practice to indulge.

We should seek to understand the rationale behind why traditional gender norms have been so common throughout history. Denial of their validity without an attempt to understand the reasoning behind it is primarily a result of willful ignorance.

I'd be interested to see how a girl who rationalizes her behavior as "just sex" would feel if her boyfriend fucked her best friend. After all, it's just sex. No feelings involved.

Of course women can have "just sex".

Though, to conclude from posts like that that one gender hamsters more than another is a generalization; there's many differences in the way the individual members of a group think which may not always be voiced.

The reason why you see lots of hamstering in RP guys, I think, is because there's too much ignorance going on in our culture about these sorts of subjects, and they often hold retarded beliefs to compensate for their lack of understanding of all the mechanisms involved in the big picture.

I think one of the points TRP tries to make is that when people make decisions based on feelings instead of intellect they often requires some mental masturbation, or hamstering, to justify their decision after the fact. And women, in TRPs point of view, are more inclined to make decisions based on feelings compared to men.

That doesn't mean men, and TRPs, refrain from making decisions based on their feelings. And when they do they must hamster it away after the decision has been made. Angry divorce-raped men and angsty teenagers are excellent at this.

But changing your view? Your view is that TRP hamsters more than women. They don't because they're not as in touch with their feelings as women. But they do hamster at times.

Your CMV is something already discussed, not only in PPD, but TRPers have questioned each other's male hamster. They boil it all down pretty bare before making any attempt at theory, but I don't expect you to believe that.

Just because you assume that they always want to get an alpha to commit doesn't mean that it's what they really have in mind. Sometimes they really can have sex simply to get laid.

A study was released recently that asked women whether they preferred LTRs. 100% said yes. When asked about the hookup culture, only 8% were comfortable with the casual sex pervasive today.

It's not just intuition, reason, and personal experience that makes TRP a great place to figure out how fucked up things are. Science is very revealing when it gets even remotely close to TRP truths. Remember that study that came out of Bloomberg? Women want status and they ditch men who don't have jobs; they're not okay with men being the dependent/submissive one. What is hamstering is taking that same study and saying "well, the man should have to help, so that excuses women from responsibility for initiating divorce". The difference between what is and isn't hamstering is actually pretty obvious the more examples you actually try to find.

I've never had a ONS that didn't want me for more later. Even the one who expected me not to call her back entertained an LTR. It's all an act put on by those women who have low self-worth or a bad history of getting used. They want more.

TRPers are actually men who stripped off the world view you continue to peddle. It's baffling that you could have so little awareness of what TRP is after all this time.

They accuse women of hamstering and solipsism, but that's basically the whole foundation of TRP truthisms.

Again, where do you think the vocabulary came from? They opened up their eyes and used lenses to clear the feminist bullshit fog, and that's what they saw. To simply point at the words they use and cry irony is fatuous at best and outright intellectual dishonesty at its worst.

I think your misunderstanding that thread.

They actually agree that women fuck just for the sake of sex. However, the question targets to the point at why a girl minimizes something that was "just sex", as less than a full relationship, when for a man, straight up sex is more valuable, or at least more difficult to achieve than an LTR.

What does male hamstering have to do with anything here? It doesn't matter if women are telling the truth when they say "it's just sex" because the way TRP sees it, the "it's just sex" type of guys are the guys who inspire women's tingles, they're the ones women lust over; make no mistake women would prefer if those same kind of guys would also commit to an LTR but they won't and women know this which is why they know full well that "it's just sex". Meanwhile the "stable and married" type of guy is just that - the guy who women see as good LTR material, being good LTR material doesn't necessarily mean you're inspiring the tingles, that's what TRP is trying to get at.

For many guys, being the 'married and stable' type of guy is the second rate and a raw deal - because they're getting a post-slut who's wanting to settle. Guys don't want to be settled for, they want to be the first choice, the guy who inspires the tingles, the "it's just sex" type of guys.
