I am a recovering pick-me in her early 20s, and as such I have been evaluating my past experiences and relationships and have noticed that I am very drawn to the artsy, alternative styled men. You know the type, the type that roll up their jeans, listen to Homeshake, Tame Impala, & the lesser known similiar types. They probably play in some shitty Mac Demarco x Beach Boys nose ring band, or maybe they just broke things off with you because they're leaving for art school to fall in love with the manic pixie painter girl, or maybe just loves 500 days of summer because Zooey Deschanel is hot.

I am painfully, hopelessly attracted to these types of men. My stupid brain thinks that if a man isn't of this flavor then he's too boring. In my experience with these men they don't just pump and dump, no no. They string you along in a situationship, they make you feel like they care about you because they are so sensitive, and in touch with their emotions, and care about the same leftist/"feminist" values as you. But really, they're manipulating you into some real mind fucky shit.

I have been working on leveling up, I have a degree and a creative career I love, I eat healthy and exercise, I have hobbies and amazing friends...

Working in a creative field I have met many creative/artsy men who are my type, and outside of a dating setting they come across as really cool, legitimately good, gainfully employed, well adjusted men. Once you add sex and love to the mix suddenly some shit changes, something flips, and they show their lack of... ability to be emotionally serious?

Any other ladies out there have any insight/input?
