Oof girl don’t get me started. Grimes used to be one of my favorite musicians but then she got groomed by him. Their whole relationship is embarrassing and the lengths she goes to defend her pos redpilling asshole. She is sleeping with the patriarchy and perpetuating it by having children with him. It reminds me of my pickme days when I dated older men too. He is trash and suspect has a dark personality.

Did y’all know Elon’s dad has a child with his step daugther? He raiser her since 4 and their age gap is 40.... being raised by him, explains why Elon is the way he is. Have you red the interview with his ‘starter wife’? He treats women like shi*t.

What’s wrong with rick and morty? I wouldn’t call myself a fan, but I’ve watched some shows in the background while doing chores and it seems Morty’s mom is the smart woman bringing home the bacon (settling for a LVM, Morty’s father, yes) and even Summer, Morty’s sister, is given some moments highlighting how smart and independent she is. Morty is the stupid one. Rick seems to be a moronic genius, but I can’t recall any bad moments. I’d love if someone could clarify though in case I need to boycot.
[–]buy_me_cookiesFDS Newbie25 points26 points27 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I agree with you, the show is entertaining, but the fan base is utterly fucking obnoxious.

I’ve never known any guys into it, but maybe because I’m 29 and in Europe. A girlfriend got me into it (who even got a plumbus tattood on her arm.. lol). I can imagine the young male fan base as I grew up with family guy and South Park and I think that led to similar types of male followers...

[–]SewudFDS Disciple4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I couldn't tell you why but all men who have been fans of Rick and Morty were manosphere types. Probably has something to do with the fact that others are not really watching cartoons.
[–]aellopeFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's because men are largely one-dimensional and think that Rick is the good guy (see also: American Psycho, Wolf of Wall Street, Lolita), idolize him, and use him to excuse their shitty personality traits. They see themselves in the villain/antihero but because he is the main character they can't understand that the character is a critique of those traits, not a glorification.
[–]Fujoshi-kunFDS Newbie4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It’s when the guys think Rick is a good person and want to be him/think they are him that it becomes a problem. Same with guys that idolise Tony stark

He’s not even supposed to be a good person - he’s a crap father, grandfather and overall garbage human being 😂 it’s also what makes it so funny, it’s a trope

I love Rick and Morty but the fan base can be toxic. The creators had to release a statement asking them to stop with the misogyny.

Am I a union buster 🤔😳I have one of his books....12 rules of life or something..takes FOREVER to get to the point...from the 2 chapters I managed to actually get thru he doesn’t seem bad...all I got from the book so far was stand up straight....I did not need read about lobsters for 3000 pages to get that info... I suppose I would be wary of anyone idealizing an author/making it a personality trait. I personally would not want a guy who is super into Robert Greene- although I have practically memorized 48 laws/war/laws of human nature...art of seduction is apparently a LVM favourite...seemed kinda basic/non-practical to me so that’s the only one I didn’t buy a physical copy of. Although I have highlighted pretty much every sentence of some of Greene’s books, I don’t understand what drives anyone over the age of 25 to idealize an author to that point...didn’t Jordan Peterson say he only eats red meat or something? Tbh that sounds like an awesome diet..but obviously stupid. He’s only human tho- are people not embarrassed by name dropping some dude they never met/is unaware of their existence? How is this a personality trait? Maybe I have too much pride but it seems childish af...the dude writes self-help books...he’s not Plato or something

Haha I had this same response to the graphic. JP makes the occasional good point, but he's lauded as the new "Dad to the masses" for a whole bunch of men. I think so long as they're capable of forming their own thoughts and opinions, having read his work isn't a huge problem. He has his problematic views 🤷♀️

I actually like some of the things he says, like all that you mentioned above. However, he believes that the patriarchy doesn’t exist. He believes that men and women are equals in society today and that modern feminism is dangerous. While I do think that modern feminism is in fact dangerous to women, I only think this because it teaches women to degrade themselves and see this as empowerment and to ignore critical thinking. Jordan Peterson seems to think that all feminism is bad because men and women are already equal in society, it’s just that we have different roles so this translates to inequality. I actually do really like how he tells men to stop complaining and whining and actually improve their lives. However, I noticed that his fans tend to blame all their problems on women... which doesn’t make sense because he teaches men that they should cherish and love their wives, because relationships are fundamental to living happy, fulfilling lives. He also criticizes hookup culture, which I also agree with.

I’m not sure why I’m being downvoted... I am a proud feminist and that’s why I disagree with a lot of what Jordan Peterson says, however I’m not going to deny that he has some useful things to say.
Yes he really encourages women to be financially independent as well. He really loves his wife and his daughter and he tells men that they should be loving, supportive fathers/husbands, which is why I find it strange that a lot of his fans seem to be women-haters... I also like how he tells men to stop emasculating themselves and blaming women for their problems, and actually go out and build a life they can be proud of.

That’s the thing about Jordan Peterson. His content is seductive because he is legitimately a smart man. It’s just the further you go into it, the more of his alarming beliefs come to the surface. I’ve been down that road, enjoying his lectures on some random topic and suddenly baited and switched.

Exactly this. What they call The motte-and-bailey fallacy...
(named after the motte-and-bailey castle) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy where an arguer conflates two positions which share similarities, one modest and easy to defend (the "motte") and one much more controversial (the "bailey").[1] The arguer advances the controversial position, but when challenged, they insist that they are only advancing the more modest position.[2][3] Upon retreating to the motte, the arguer can claim that the bailey has not been refuted (because the critic refused to attack the motte)[1] or that the critic is unreasonable (by equating an attack on the bailey with an attack on the motte).

Jordan Peterson isn't legitimately smart in the sense of being logical and intelligent. He is however, good at using a convincing-sounding tone of voice and some buzzwords/phrases that manipulate people who are feeling lost and looking for a manual in life. He's really quite confused, ultimately. I suspect he has some sort of deep insecurity going on that prevents him from seeing how things really are.
He doesn't back up his arguments well––his arguments are cyclical. He doesn't understand what it's like to be anything but a wealthy white American dude. He's got like, no perspective, which ties back to that insecurity.

I can't qoute him verbatim from the vids since I'll have to go back and watch. But here's he on Twitter...
"# 2 of questions to get crucified for asking: Do feminists avoid criticizing Islam because they unconsciously long for masculine dominance?"
Or when he said...
"Is it possible that young women are so outraged because they are craving infant contact in a society that makes that very difficult?"
https://mobile.twitter.com/jordanbpeterson/status/913531363915128832
He goes from "just asking" to angrily asserting very quickly in videos, hence the problem. He's very repill minus the depravity or sociopathy. Redpillers also promote getting fit and earning money... but the other stuff...
Btw here are some of the videos where he asserts women are missing male dominance and are just "testing" ( aka what redpillers call "shit test") men with radical feminist stuff...

These are great examples that show that he essentially picks something insightful-sounding and extrapolates it to fit his superiority/inferiority complex / cognitively distorted personal worldview.
The 'women longing for male dominance' thing, for example. The thing is, that this argument is composed of a couple partial-truths that he generalizes out to cover his argument for what the nature of femininity is. It's ultimately a half baked idea but it's spicy as hell, so his followers get so excited because you can point to real-life examples, like I'll do here:
The issue with Jordan Peterson's argument is that he doesn't seem to get that all squares are rectangles but not every rectangle is a square. He's conflating. Ultimately, 'women longing for male dominance' is not an intrinsic part of femininity. FDS espouses some pretty dominatrix-y ideas (not in a bad way lol)
All female JP fans seem to bow their heads to this. I want to ask them all if they were parentified, honestly. Same with the male fans. They want cult daddy JP to tell them it's all alright and to MAKE YOUR BED EVERYDAY. Is he not just a replacement of a parental figure they didn't get? There's a really similar/common affect to all JP fans I know. Like an obvious internal restlessness. They also seem to speak/write in an eerily similar way.

. He mentioned about how men should be more involved in housework and childrearing.
I've heard him saying the opposite on a podcast ( with a conservative women. Forgetting the name)where he references an old study that showed men and women who do split things like washing dishes have less sex(which has been disproven). Another study he qoutes had to do with how pictures of men doing "womenly" chores are rated as less attractive while men doing "manly" chores are considered more attractive. Most of what I've heard and watched him say paints a very tradcon narrative. Maybe he's talking about traditional dad stuff when talking about men being present or maybe he has changed his tune since then idk.
