You know, the chivalrous, selfless guy. The guy that will give you his jacket when you're cold, pay for all your meals, provide for you, etc. I, like many others, eventually came to the cruel realization that being chivalrous is a dead and worthless act that won't gain you any respect or romance in modern day.

In the modern era, chivalry is no longer desired. Women have the same rights as men. Why would women rely on a man to pay for their meals, provide shelter, etc, when they can just do it themselves and chase after the guys they're actually attracted to. As for the rest of us unattractive men, we just have to suck it up and self improve into godhood, and maybe a woman will lower her standards enough to give us a shot. Sucks, but its a product of our times, and ive more or less come to terms with this.

Contrary to popular belief, I actually go outside and meet people fairly often (restaurant business). I was having a conversation with a couple of other young coworkers, both women, about a guy we know who's currently with a toxic gold digger. I said some dumb shit about simping and how he shouldnt be with a girl like that, almost as a joke because i figured this would be a fairly obvious observation. They both looked at me like i was crazy and said that it was a man's job to provide for a woman, and his behavior is nothing special.

They then went on to talk about how men today are trash and that they want a good old fashion man as described in the first paragraph. This surprised me, because these girls are your typical stacys who've slept around and are currently both in toxic long term relationships where the guys only redeeming qualities are their looks. The thing is, I didn't actually start getting respect from these women UNTIL I decided to stop don't things for them and started treating them more harshly. I understand that I work with what are essentially charicatures of the incel idea of women, but youd think that they would at least understand the importance of masculinity and appearance in a guy, judging by their relationships.

So is chivalry actually a positive (with respect to non-gold diggers) or is this just another case of cognitive dissonance?
